#1 isx15 is single overhead cam #2 cat acert is sequential turbo not twin so its two stage so it means two diferant sizes not twin that would mean two turbos that are the same size mostly used on v stile motors.and it is the easiest one to tune .
@robby844 I believe the bolts are sized proportionally to the engine (large bolts being stronger) and being such a large diesel it wont make the revs to warrant 4 bolt mains.
@robby844 You might be right I was only making the assumption that if the manufacturer has designed it this way, it's probably going to put up with the load intended for it.
@robby844 u must be comparing cat to a detroit. i drive an '08 pete 388 with an ISX and i've only come across a handfull of trucks that can run with it. and NO twin turbo cat has even come close.
I am a Diesel Mechanic and i have worked on many engines with 4 bolt main bearing caps and rod bearing caps. Obviously you have no clue what your talking about. The reason for 4 bolt main and rod caps is because when Cummins went to the steel pistons to handle the heat from combustion, they needed to beef up the connecting rod, rod caps, and bolts which is why they went to 4-bolt main and rod bearing caps, to withstand the farce of the newer heavier piston going up and down in the cylinder.
not this model of engine its a dual overhead cam only the cm2250 engines had a single cam and only because of the lack of a need for a injector cam brought about by the high pressure common rail fuel system dont say if you dont know or dont have training or hands on experience both of which i have
Notice how the EGR valve is missing!!! What a shot engine have 4 trucks with this new isx and within 8,000 km fuel pump shit the bed and so did the rest of the engine...
@farmyardmassacre your kidding me right? the CAT puts out double the torque and almost double the HP and they have 4 bolt mains.the sad thing is even the four banger in the small excavator and skid steers have four bolt mains.
Why do people insist on putting such heavy rock music with these videos that bring fascination to the engineering? Classical music would have been much more thought conducive.
@broken4813 good then.but i have seen enough flatcammins down with bad parts to know how shitty they really are.turbos fail, cams fail, rings fail, cranks seize,oil pumps fail. the list goes on and on.
not used in any on the road equiptment due to the qsx designation as opposed to the isx which is the version in trucks. dont listen to the uneducated jctech
you dont have any trucks with this engine. it is exclusively in off road vehicles and power generation equiptment learn from CUMMINS certified epa 2010 and 13 technician.
