There are 2 possible explanations. The pans had a nonstick coating, so high heat could burn off the coating and/or she had at least one sitting on the bottom of the oven which gets much hotter than the rest of the oven
She had the oven cranked wayyyy too hot at 500F, the pan wasn't burning the non-stick coating that is rated for MAXIMUM 500F was. It's pretty common knowledge not to blast insane temperatures on non-stick coatings.
@@DoomclownIts true, if you have pet birds the fumes from doing that will have them drop dead. It's really tragic when it happens because it's not so well known. Most bird owners learn by a death from exactly this
You need to read the product descriptions & instructions before buying them. If you think that each is just another pan, like the ones you've used before, you can get a lot of nasty surprizes like this one. Some pans, with a non-stick coating, need to be "seasoned," by being coated with oil then heated at a specific temperature, for an hour or less.
Even metal for cooking has a rating up to a certain temperature, especially if it has a non-stick coating. She, of all people, should know better. But I'm also the dumbass that stores non-oven safe things in the oven and, half the time, forgets they're in there and causes them to melt and shit. My dumbass still hasn't learned my lesson so I'm not anyone to be giving her a hard time.
