I just bought a house that has a Castile pellet stove and can’t get any help or service on how to use it and clean it. My model is not the same as this one 😥😥
Though these types of stoves are more efficient than a regular firewood stove, had I known how often this stove had to be taken apart to clean the insides, I'd had never bought it. Be prepared to get dirty, raise clouds of dust and wrestle taking out parts and reinstalling them.
Personally I have not had any problems with my unit like the one in the video. I only have to clean the fire pot once a week even when I am running it 24/7.
Don't tell me most of this is daily?? I'd sooner sit outside with a firepit. This is a disaster waiting to happen. I have a pellet stove up and a woodstove in the basement. Great.
Hey everyone, Messaging from Western NY blizzard of 2022 zone..I bought my house with a Castile Quadra fire pellet stove already here. I cleaned it really well or so I thought. It's been making a heck of a racket last 2 days. Tonight it just shut down. I'm cleaning it out again but just noticed the lever at the bottom by the ash box. It's seized up tight. Any ideas on how I can break it free as I think it may be the problem. SOS: this is my only heating source.
If I understand your problem - that the trap door lever is seized - I experience that as well and it's caused by carbon build up on the trap door plate. I use a putty knife or a miniature pry bar to break the carbon loose so the lever will pull again. Emptying the trap frequently will help somewhat to keep this chore to a minimum, and I think differing brands of pellets may also affect how much this happens. Whether this is the cause of your racket, I don't know... it does not seem to create a racket in my Castile.
