About Roll With Cole & Charisma:
Hey everyone! We’re Cole & Charisma. Since the start of our relationship we've gotten a lot of questions about how we make things work as not only an interracial couple, but an interabled one as well. There are certainly differences, and despite them we have a great time, all the time! On this channel, you’ll find travel vlogs, Q&As, couple challenges, how-to/educational videos and more. We started this channel to bring people into our lives so we can answer some questions about how we navigate the world. We’ll show you behind-the-scenes stuff people typically don't see, and hopefully raise awareness surrounding accessibility and dating in a wheelchair. You'll quickly see in our episodes that we're all about positivity, inclusion, and keeping a great attitude no matter your circumstances, so if that's what you're into, you're in the right place!

Hi Cole and Charisma I have a Question. I watch also Zack his Channel and I wondered why Zack has a leg bag for when he has to pee and you don't have it. Did you have had it too in the past???? And is that because of your operation with the botox??

As someone in the medical space, specifically sports medicine world, this video is SO important. More people need to be educated on the differences, we can all be doing better to understand each other :) you guys did an awesome job of organizing the information and explaining it clearly with those examples!

As a software engineer I can tell you there is a lot that can be done for people with physical disability. Something as simple as a robotic hand that your actual hand can be attached to. Something to support your spine area that won't hurt you, etc.

My mom has been a complete paraplegic for 25 years now. She has no core whatsoever. Makes me happy to see videos like these because normal people don't know the daily struggle that these people go through. My mom seems happy to outsiders. But I see the pain, depression, anxiety, and different medications that she goes through. It's easy to say not to dwell on the issue and to look on the bright side. But in reality, no matter what, there's plenty of days that that person will fall into depression out of nowhere. But as long as the person can pull themselves out of it they will continue living their best life. My mom has raised four adult females all alone. And I think that makes her superwoman! Love this video 😘💋

Loved the sarcasm in the beginning. 🤣👊🏽......The fact that you guys even have to explain ....is mind blowing. People can be so insensitive. Like your team of doctors wouldn’t have to told you what you have. Like you just diagnosed yourself after your injury. Stay positive guys. 👊🏽👌🏽

One of my late husband's was a T3 paraplegic, we had a blast. There's a downside of loving someone in a chair, the remarks, questions that are too personal. They didn't understand why. I never really see the chair. I only saw the love in his heart. I miss him daily

I love how you broke this down, and made the information so easy to understand. Unfortunately, I did not know that there was so much that went into the diagnoses of quadriplegia and paraplegia. With that being said, I’ve also never felt so entitled to tell another human being that they were wrong when I am not a trained professional AND never walked a day in the individual’s shoes. I am so sorry that you have to deal with the dark side of social media. Please continue to make more videos, because you are truly making a positive impact when it comes to increasing awareness on SCI, and the beauty of a healthy loving relationship. I love you both, and I pray for nothing but God’s absolute best for your lives!!!

So glad I found this channel recently. I have Spina Bifida (but I have use of my legs) and I love to see that, even though you may have a spinal cord injury, you are still able to get on with your daily lives as if nothing really happened with not a lot of change. I was so lucky that my spinal cord injury was not as severe as others with spina bifida, although I still have some problems regarding organ function such as bowel and bladder/kidneys. Love the channel, keep up the great work!

Thanks for explaining. I have spine arthritis, herniated disc, 2 back surgeries, SS and severe right foraminal stenosis. I have to use a rollator. I also have peripheral neuropathy which affects my balance. Also 2-level ACDF C4-5/5-6 with plate and screws. I use to be a medical transcriptionist and I had to give up my job that I loved so well after 34 years. It is hard to depend on others as they truly do not understand how hard it is to get around and do things you would like to do on your own but we need help. You two amaze me and Cole you are so lucky to have a strong person by your side like Charisma and your family and her family. You two make it work seemingly easy but I know it is not. Keep up the good public relations and stay strong.

Im an incomplete quadriplegic. It's hard for people to really understand this. My level is C2-C5, all those vertebrae where shattered so they used bone from my hips to make a new neck. Now 3 plates 11 screws later, I'm doing better, I'm able to walk with balance issues but I'm able to walk again. You remind me of my younger self. I know what you have gone thrive is hard, been there too died 6 times. But seeing your will to fight in this video, don't stop your therapy. Don't stop working out everyday. Every time you want to give up, you make yourself keep going regardless if you want to or not, you must push yourself. Don't give up, it's been 21 years since my accident. Never give up and watch at what can happen. Keep your mind the strongest! Good to meet you guys by the way. Take care....

Very informative video! most people associate quadriplegia with complete loss of function in both upper and lower body, but as you have clarified, it all depends on the degree and level of injury. Sadly In many developing countries (where I come from), many people with acquired disabilities especially those related to spinal cord injury are not exposed to the same kind of extensive rehabilitation programs because of lack of sophisticated/modern equipment such as the ones you have, resulting to rapid deterioration of their conditions (to put it mildly). Thank you for always showing us what is possible with intervention and I wish you both the very best!

This was good. My dad was a incomplete quad. Has weak biceps and hand function like Coles but thumb function was fair. Had some good core function and initially could walk with a stick first 10-15 years post SCI until started falling a lot due to spasms then had to use a chair. Was a c4 c5 c6 if I remember well. Thank you so much for these explanations! I am a Caregiver and am starting with a new client tomorrow whom is a quad. I'm not sure of his level of injury but this has really helped me get a idea of how I will be able to help him.

Thank you for cleaning it up for all of us. I didn’t realize there were so many different forms of paralysis.

You guys are awesome! I love your videos, and this one is a great resource. I’ve been a practicing Occupational Therapist for 2 years and I’m so glad I found your videos. That sip and puff reacher is cool! I will definitely share this video with students, co-workers, and patients! Thanks! Best of luck in OT school Charisma! 👍

Thank you so much for this video! I am an occupational therapy student, learning about SCI, and the functional examples really helped me! Y'all are an adorable couple with great chemistry, as well. Hope to find a connection like that myself one day (:

This was so educational! Thanks for showing and telling us about the proper terminology. It's a lot more involved than I thought!

I have functional quadriplegia but i also have damage to my spine in the neck region due to a car accident that deteriorated over time. I love how people think they know what they are talking about and are trying to tell you what you do or don’t have because they themselves are ignorant. It’s also really annoying when people think that because you are sometimes able to do things that you aren’t actually disabled and that part to me is the most frustrating part of all because then it makes it difficult for anyone to feel good about any recovery made since just because you have been able to regain some function you are still quite disabled and struggle with every single task. It’s also misunderstood that all plegics are totally paralyzed and unable to feel or use their limbs at all and that’s not true either because some of us actually don’t have paralysis or complete paralysis we still cannot use our limbs normally and not for very long either. Some of us can transfer really well too. Like i can use my limbs but it’s extremely painful and only lasts a few minutes at a time and although i do have extreme numbness and i can’t feel very much i can still feel some and can still use them for a few minutes at a time. I do have to use a lot of assistance devices even for holding up my phone which hurts my hands a lot or for trying to stir something my hands totally lock up and excruciating pain starts shooting through my entire hands all the way up my arm to my shoulders. I’m just someone that likes to push myself and do everything myself so i don’t say anything to anyone usually and just keep trying to do it all myself even though it hurts so much. I have ms and neuropathy as well as multiple damaged disks in my neck and spinal cord compression and a severe scoliosis in my lower back. Thank you for this channel i just came across it!
