It’s interesting bc I’ve never seen anyone raising quail, my dad, I remember would go quail hunting. This is fascinating to me. Thanks for showing the difference between the male/female.
I'm just getting into quail, I haven't bought any yet but I'm refurnishing an old chicken coop for them to have a more free range life style. I love to have found your channel and thank you for the information!
My hatch rate was lower than expected. I had two incubators one did great the other was bad. but I would have been overwhelmed if all had hatched out. This has help me see what it going to take to get ready for more.
Hatch RATE! i put a bunch of thermometers in my incubators...NONE of the incubators came anywhere near the temps they claimed at egg level!!!!! i complained and someone very senior personally called me back and sent me 3 sets of free gear when i said i would post viral info.......the only way i got up tpo temp was to cover and insulate the incubators........please note ...luck to all! what amazing , fierce, dark eyes you have !!! wow.......thanks for the info everyone
I have an old model of the Farmer’s innovators incubator that took me some time to figure out and get my levels right. I’m actually making a video on this next week. I had to buy a couple of hygrometers to finally find one that was accurate! Thank you for the compliment.
Your probably way more experienced with quail then I am, but my quail also jump around in the hands, and I just always make sure they have something to stand on/ a hand.
I've got all the colours from a lady, my last hatch failed and I got one chick. I'm trying to decide if I've got a boy or a girl. I have a pharaoh colour chick, with a pure white chest! 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Thanks for the video, I think I'm going to have to find out the other way! Lol
I started having jumbo coturnix about a month ago and got some more today, hoping to starting hatching some and being able to keep the males and females in check, by having the correct ratio
Thanks for male/ female differentiation. Does the farm quails, those hatched from incubation machine lay eggs and do they also hatch eggs by their own ?
Lailani, birds look great! We have a mix of cortunix, we couldn't tell by feather sexing most of them. Theres lavenders, whites and browns. We had to vent sex. My son got them for me for mothers day last yr along with chickens... we're trying to incubate our own eggs, got 4 in brooder, right now. Wasn't great hatch rate gonna try again with more eggs. If you got any advice I'd love to hear it! So much conflicting information out there.
What a wonderful gift to receive on Mother’s Day. As far as incubation goes, there’s sooo much! I feel your pain with all the information. Maybe if I had a more specific question to what happened I could better help you🙂.
@@MakeitMake out of 22 eggs only 4 hatched out on day 18. It's now day 23, 18 eggs still in incubator. Kept temp at 99.5, humidity at 75%. I keep wall thermometer/hygrometer that is accurate, I calibrated it to be sure. We candled them at lock down everyone were where they're supposed to be. I dont know what we did wrong, if anything. I dont want to give up on them yet. Seems people differ in opinion on humidity and other things. More I read the more confused I'm getting.
I kept my RH levels between 40 and 50% until lockdown. At lockdown I kept it as close to 75% as possible. That’s with a forced air incubator. It took me a couple of hatches to really understand my incubator. I ended up turning my temps up cause I new something was wrong with my hatches. The next hatch was way more successful. It may take some time in fiddling around with it but you’ll get there. I personally think every incubator is different.
75% humidity was more than likely your issue. Only need to run 30-50% on humidity and three days prior to hatch date bring the humidity up to 75% for helping hatch
@@gerald4027 LMAOOOOOOO That’s why I’m steering clear of Cali 🤣 I need CLEAR male/female so I can keep my population growing. I don’t need any choppin off their own parts and being unable to reproduce 🥲
