I'm 59. I started watching NASCAR on Wild Word of Sports. Look it up. We got maybe 1/3 of the race. My dad bought a HUGE satellite dish just so we could get the raw network feed so we could see the race. Sunday. What Chase did, the restart, the agression, the way he stuck the nose of the #9 car in between 2 others, maintained control and drove that car into the lead? Some of the best pure, raw driving ability that I've seen. Plus his personality? If I could meet him, I would most definitely shake his hand. I know that doesn't mean, to most what it means to me and my generation. Chase. He's not only a man, strong, don't mess with me but he's also. Humble. That is thanks mostly to his dad, which I'm sure is due mostly to Bill's dad, so on and so forth. Good family. Great drivers. I'm proud to be a long time fan of the Elliott's.

I dont think NBC has broadcast an oval race all season since they took over the schedule. Pretty lame imo. Road course pale in comparison to ovals. I dont even know why people go to a race in person... just to see your favorite driver for a couple seconds at a time for a total of a couple minutes combined during the whole race? I would definitely stay at home at watch for free over spending money at a road course.

I know what you're thinking there, but towards Jr's train of thought, there's a number of tracks with previous generations of cars where the guy leading the race isn't necessarily as advantageous towards winning on the last lap as the guy running second with power in reserve to work the slingshot. Car design notwithstanding, it still means the guy leading is pushing more air and burning more fuel whereas everybody behind you is feathering the gas and able to power around you in the last turn.

Blows my mind to see how empty the seats are here. This is one of the most thrilling races on the schedule. I've been watching NASCAR for 30 years and I'm a very conservative type of fan in that I don't like many of the changes that have happened or the traditions that have been killed over the years. I'm also not a fan of the fact that Atlanta no longer really exists and that what we have now is something else riding under the same name but I can't deny that this thing that's riding under the same name of something that no longer exists is unbelievably exciting to watch.

Sure wish they'd run like this at Texas. Atlanta, Cali and TMS are functionally clones of one another and typically kind of snoozers to watch as the layout prompts single lane strings and everyone is stretched out, but this is a nice change of pace. Indeed, very plate-like pack racing.

Someone please explain why the competition caution is "on OR ABOUT lap 25". So NASCAR just says "we want to call the caution when we want." AKA "we'll call the caution when we get the guy we want out front."
@TheNylter
@TheNylter Год назад
It's a CYA ambiguity. If there's rain, or another caution, or another reason the yellow flag gets tossed, NASCAR reserves the right to change the actual lap of competition caution. I've seen a few races, don't remember which ones, where the caution came up 3-5 laps before the scheduled competition caution, and NASCAR went ahead and made that caution the competition caution also.
@darthwagner5897
@darthwagner5897 Год назад
@@TheNylter throwing the competition caution early due to another caution being already throw happens a lot and makes sense. (They’re not gonna do two cautions back to back). But throwing the competition a lap AFTER it should’ve been thrown is ridiculous and unnecessary. Imagine a stage is supposed to end at lap 100 but they dont throw the checkered flag til 101. A lot can happen in one lap.
@TheNylter
@TheNylter Год назад
@@darthwagner5897 I have been on the lookout for situations like you're talking about, the ones where competition cautions happen after the targeted time, and I can think of only one timee, maybe, where the caution came out at the appropriate time or later. The thing is, they have to wait until the top tend cross the start-finish line before they'll fly the green and white checker.

I hate this narrative that Denny is innocent in his battle against Chastain. Break checking someone and trying to make them fail to meet minimum speed like Denny was when he was multiple laps down is not innocent. The highlights of their battle they showed about 3:20:00 in didn't show Denny driving up into Chastain earlier in this race because Chastain managed to save it. I'm not particularly a Chastain fan, but Denny seems as Petty as Harvick was against Elliot last year and I can see it costing Denny the same way Harvick cost himself a chance of the championship last year.

Please fix your product NASCAR. This isn't any good. Stage cautions sucks and the playoffs are the worst thing to ever have thought up. I miss the days when races were good and you didn't need any gimmicks to help you win a championship. Thanks NASCAR for some of the dumbest ideas of all time.

Yeah like the incomprehensible points system and only 3 drivers having a chance is so much fun to watch, 260 laps of single file bullshit racing. Don't let the door hit you on the way out.
