This is the most amazing frag movie of all time, from any game!
Featuring two of the top Quakeworld players Dag and Def, and movie produced by Pez.
I had to split the movie up into two parts since youtube don't allow longer than 10 min long clips.
I have not made this movie myself, I'm just a big fan of the game and the movie, and I could not find it with good quality here on youtube so I decided to rerender it and upload it, since it deserves to be seen by everyone!

The length of the movie is approximately 20 minutes and the size of it is fairly heavy. It comes in two flavours, a light weight version on 779Mb and a top notch quality version on 1,5Gb. It is a must download despite the file size though as you really don't want to miss this!"

The learning curve for new players in Quakeworld was simply brutal. If a newbie ends up with 0 frags it's an accomplishment, as usually newbies end up with minus frags in QW.

Yes. In QW, if the difference in skill between two players are more than just a little, the better player ends up completely destroying the worse one.

It's amazing how the Source engine we know and love today (TF2, L4D2, etc.) originally came from GoldSRC, which came from this.

You can turn freely in the air and change direction.. Which in turn makes it harder to hit airbourne people than in other most other games.

CoD4 Promod player here (undoubtedly the hardest competitive CoD mode), and I can safely say that all Quake games are harder in general skill than CoD4PM. ProMod is actually quite difficult and requires nice team synchronisation, but ultimately if you have the better peek you can acquire your desired frag, which is quite a boring mechanic for a game to revolve around.

seriously in my 13 years of playing fps games this game still is the best game i have played on earth because it is just so perfect for any competitive gamer. there are always times in every other fps were you will get kill because the game wont respond fast enough. for instance, if you are out of ammo and you walk round the corner to a camper and you have the choice to change weapons or reload and both choices take too long to be able to take down the enemy i. could go on but utube wont let me.

@submitted I"ll admit , it looks like a Lego FPS, but damnit, the ferocious action will make any modern day FPS it's bitch. I now have Quake 4 (q4max), Quake III (defrag, cpma, excessive plus), Quake Live. Is Quake World and Quake II worth tracking down? many competitive players around anyone? Or even where I can find an active clean download?

Think I won my first 99 games online vs random opponents on Wireplay (UK service). I was pinging 90 (!!amazing!!) to Manchester servers with a 56K modem. Anyways on Game 100, I met this guy called Sujoy on DM4..... then I learned how much more practice I would actually need. Sujoy 24 - 0 Vanilla

Hence the reason why it has elements from halo even though it doesn't really fit. So basically kinda what happened to Team fortress. After writing that comment I checked out Xonotic and I freaking love it. Do you think there is any point in checking out the original Nexuiz?

QuakeWorld was the best Quake hands down. Loved the video. What did you do do to make the graphics so much better? That's near Quake3 quality (except on the poly count).

Unfortunately it's not available in my country (DE) on steam. Maybe it's because it used to be on the index. But it's not anymore, so I don't know why I can't buy it there :(. I guess I'll just have to pay the 20$ (16.99€) if I want to get into Quakeworld. Would it be worthwhile?

and unfortunately the kids that say games like this sucks are the reason why we will never get another gem like this again because the amount of kids around that think realistic graphics, set pieces and quick time events equal a good game greatly out weigh the people who just want a fun game no matter how nonsensical it is. you know it would be nice if someone took the formula of this and added something to improve it, idk like add the skiing from tribes or something.

Theres few games where you can actually modify FOV these days... makes me sad panda :( and every "PC" game that comes out are broken console versions that needs to be patched 10 times after release. This is the only fps that i have huge respect.

I do like Quake Live, but the only thing that pisses me off is the absence of gibs. Getting a rail on someone in midair just doesn't feel the same when there's no gore.

I thought everyone moved to Quake Live. I mean, the Quake III: Arena servers are almost dead, and almost everyone I know personally has made the switch as well. I'm surprised EVERYONE hasn't moved to QL with all the hype it's been getting over the years.

@DoomTra1n Let me guess, the files the installation asked for is the pak1 file? You are not required to have this file to be able to install and play the game, but you cant play certain maps without it. Impacted is not the same thing, I have not tried that client myself, but I can strongly recommend to use ezQuake client, which is the one in the nQuake pack, its the most popular one out there. Even though you can still play on the same servers with basically any client...

@ExsplosivePlatypus Because not everybody in the world needs 100 achievements, accolades and unlocks to come up every time you hit a trigger to feel good about themselves. There are people like us who play QW because it is 100% skill based. Fast paced, technical movement, complex positioning, accurate timing and perfect aim are all needed in order to succeed in this game. When you win in a 1v1, 2v2 or 4v4 it is a COMPLETELY different level of satisfaction when compared to pub smashing on console

Nexuiz doesn't seem too bad either, it has the painkiller style bunny hopping, rocket jumping and has features from unreal like the primary and secondary fire and mutators. It also uses cryengine 3 so it looks gorgeous.

@supadupa2525 Sure you can, you just have to enable it by either an option setting, or a console command. And by the way, in game-terms, it is most often called a crosshair.

i'd say i am a q3 veteran (playing almost since release) but those small changes they've injected to ql really made it for me, plus i dislike overhyped games every subhuman tends to cater towards

Glad you've seen the light :) People can't really comprehend what a skillbased FPS is until they have tried playing some quakeworld online.. most people get so crushed they never try it again. Nice to see a real gamer giving his view on the matter. Thanks.

Because when i uploaded this, RU-vid had a 10min rule.. and this movie was longer than that, so i had to split it into two parts..

If your PC can handle it, download Xonotic. If not, go for OpenArena or Warsow. All three are free to play, and they're all arena FPS games similar to Quake and Unreal.

You could buy it from steam, download the shareware version or EZQuake off the internet then take the .pak files from the steam quake and put it into the shareware or EZQuake files. That's what I did.

Thanks for the link. I already got the demo/shareware version and played the first 3 levels with default settings. But the only reason i'd buy the game is to be able to be able to play QW online with actual players. I only thought about buying the game because of the comment from Crovaxx2 down below. Is that a false info? All servers empty, no tourneys, no nothing? :(

ezQuake is the client to play quakeworld, the best choice to play multiplayer. Now nQuake is a package of mods, skins, demos, maps, configs n shit that comes with ezQuake as well. So the only thing you need is the game(or just the pak files)and nQuake, just follow nQuake installation instructions. I highly recommend nQuake.

If anything, use the gauntlet and saw them in half! Man I wish I could play Quakeworld, since QL is starting to bore me (I wouldn't be surprised if they added rechargable flashlight at some point). But I do not own Q1 and apparently the only way to get it is to give iD 20$ for a mere download of a 15 years old game that comes without OST :(.

CO-OP on quake is fun :D i sort of found quake the way he did but i never had an xbox 360. I have a gaming pc I played valve or almost any steam game i heard about quake i suck at it at first but got better at quake live and started playing quakeworld and CO-OP on the orginal quake and strafe jumping is different though. Everytime i go to my friends house and play xbox cause i want to hang out cause they dont like retro games i destory them at halo or any other games Games today are easy

I also played ProMode and i dont liked at all, it looks like CS somehow.Now iam playing Battlefield and it is good, i like the team work, it is just nice when you and your squad sneak behind the enemy lines while trying to avoid tanks and infantry,i found it 100 times better than run around shooting everything that moves with a AK-47.

Well as you can see by my profile pic, i do think highly of quake 1/world and i would say its worth it if you are fine with going against bots (since there is not many people online anymore). It is a very fun game to play with every minor annoyance in almost all other FPS games not present in this game. But I would recommend you check out the shareware demo first just so you dont get disappointed by what you get because what you see in this video (in terms of textures) is not what you get.

My only gripe about this game is the color scheme. It's far better than CoD, but still never really liked how everything (including the weapons) was brown.

i would + something to your comment: i did discover that with this fps games ur brain generates more adrenaline...and who the hell doesnt enjoy to feeel the adrenaline!!!! btw i dont play Quake, i took de path HL --> CS but let me tell you, watching this vids makes me want to go inside this world again....now im chillin out with games...u kno, had troubles bla bla bla And if anybody could post the tracks name would be very appreciated (:
