If the grade beam volume is large you should deduct it but otherwise you can just leave it anyways it is for accuracy that I said that.

sorry for the late reply. so if you don't get the answer the 9 & 8 timising come b/c we already deduct for pit excavation so we take the span to span length by deducting the pit excavation so if you count the trench on the x-axis it will be 8 and on y-axis it is 9 if that is you question. Thanks.

That’s a good question.So, you may change the column size from (450x450)mm to (200x700)mm but depending upon a lot of things first what is the type of the slab is it flat,solid,ribbed second how many columns are you going to change and etc... when we come to the slabs for ex. If you use a flat slab changing the column from square to rectangular will affect the capacity of moment resistance it will affect the punching shear capacity it will affect the compression load that is going to come from the x and y direction another point is if you change majority of the columns the building must be checked for stability b/c rectangular column have high moment of inertia in the longer dimension but low moment of inertia in the shorter direction also the moment from the x and y direction should be checked also check if there is any archietectural fix on the dimension anyways it is hard to cover this on one text but more or less check the above things.If you have any question feel free to ask.
