I'm in North Carolina and this reel has been my go to for almost two years now when I go fishing at the pier. I catch all kinds of fish, Black Drum, Red Drum, Flounder and Sheepheads to include live lining for Spanish Mackerel! Cannot beat it!
Have 2 of the older versions, one set up four back bay and three other four the ocean. Railed a 12.4 lb fluke with one (personal best). These things are little beasts!
Quantum reels have always been in my life, way before I ever knew aboth John Skinner, he's great but I knew about Quantum long before youtube, etc; I watch John and have learned a lot from his videos, though...
I have 2 of these and they've been great for the last 2 years for fluking. However I'm adding a 3 rod to the mix, any reviews of the Quantum Smoke X and maybe how (besides the flipping switch) it compares to the Accurist?
Im fairly new to baitcasters and i came across this one and really curious about it! I usually do some inshore saltwater fishing , I usually fish for redfish, trout, etc. I just been looking to try out baitcasters! Would this be any good for the type of fishing i do and if so what would be a good rod to pair this up with?
@@jandhtackle This is the rod that casts 1 / 2-2 oz (15-60 g) lures. In our country, we generally measure in grams. and I wanted to understand, will the coil withstand the load if I use lures weighing up to 60 grams? I hope you understand me!
Quantum doesn't offer replacement parts for their reels for very long. Buying equipment from manufacturers who value profits over filling landfills don't deserve any nature lover's dollars.
I still have a problem believing that this reel has the power to lift a heavy fish from a party boat deck. Even though I have watched John Skinner's excellent videos, I am not convinced.
