Degeneracy of Energy Levels or Energy States and Orbital Degeneracy is one of the most easy and most scoring topics from Quantum Chemistry, watch this video to understand the concept and solve problems.
Sir.... For hydrogen like atom value of Z =1...for the orbital degeneracy it is directly as the square of n.... Although you got a correct answer while using this energy formula...
Thank you very much for these videos. It's really interesting videos.. I have learnt alot from these videos. Sir could you please teach some spectroscopic techniques. Like NMR that you have already done. Others like x ray diffraction and others.
Last question was awesome.. nice explanation.. I am thinking that if degeneracy=1 would be given in both option.. then still Option A would be correct answer.. Because energy is lower than other option . So that satisfied 1st excited state.
Jamal Adyan, I've made a video on Michaelis Menten equation and Steady State approximation. You can watch that... For chemical kinetics I'll upload a short video soon
In Last question if nx=1,ny=2 energy comes out to be =h^2/8m(17/4a^2) To calculate degeneracy 17 can be arranged in 2 ways 1^2 4^2 &4^2 1^2 Degeneracy come out to be 2 not 1... I think nx should be equal to 2 and ny =1 ....Then only the degeneracy is 1.. What do you think? When you have time do reply...Thank you
Organic Chemistry, in order to assign Degeneracy of 17 you've taken nx=1 and ny=4 and you're considering it to come our 17 just by taking numerator in consideration. But the question is different from usual questions, the box is rectangular, if you our your values of nx and ny in complete formula of energy where denominator is 2a and a then you won't get that value of energy which is given in option. Just try and check. 👍
I have doubt on last question explain sir 17 is (4^2+1^2)..nx=4,ny=1another possible nx=1,ny=4 so degeneracy is 2 so option also correct ???pls reply sir
Not considering the electronic spin ,the degeneracy of the second excited state (n=3) of hydrogen atom is 9 then while the degeneracy of second excited state of H^- ion is ? Sir please help me with the solution of this question 🙏🙏🙏
in the second question, how can we choose n=3 so that it becomes 9 times the ground state energy, the question asked to find the degeneracy of a state whose energy is 3 times of ground which is simply 3E, so the degeneracy is one (1,1,1) correct if am wrong thank you
Sir in the question of the rectangular box for coefficient value of 17 we have possible values for nx and ny are 4 and 1 and we can rearrange them in 2 ways. So the degeneracy for that energy state will be 2.But how can you write that 1.I need explanation. Plz explain sir🙏
Bcoz in rectangular box we were also having different values of lx and ly. Now if you change the values of nx and ny keeping lx and ly same (which is given in the question) then you will not get the required energy. So that rearrangement is possible only if your box is square in 2D or 3D but not for rectangular one.
Sir please help me in solving this question in DL Exam The energy of particle of mass ' m' present in a particular energy level in cubical box of length 'a' cm is 7h^2÷4ma^2 the degeneracy of the level is The answer given is 6 But how to solve this
The energy formula is n^2 h^2 ÷8ma^2 And question gives 7h^2 ÷ 4ma^2 So "n^2" must be equal to 14 to equalize above both equations.. Thus, nx= 1, ny=2, nz=3 Which gives degeneracy 6 ... And that's the answer. Thank you 😊
PANKAJ JANGID, I've discussed about organic topics which are easy to score and where probability of doing questions wrong is very less. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-w9Jt3jbgBYs.html This is link for that video, I'll suggest you to watch it once completely. I hope it'll help you
Nx ,Ny, Nz where we puttiing a numeral no. in x or N ( i know we put in N but my question is that why we r not putting it in x ,y, z) What does orbital degeneracy means???
Nx Ny and Nz are the number of particles along X, Y and Z direction respectively. We cannot give numerals at x, y or z place coz they denote the Axis where the particles are, obviously we have to give values to N as N denotes number of particles
All 'Bout Chemistry Sir it means that if we have ( 1,2,3) ....it means no of particle in x direction or axis is 1, in y its 2 n all ...... One thing more, what we collectively called (1,2,3 ) ....A State of System???
Yes you're right, it means 1 in x, 2 in y, and 3 in z. (1,2,3) will be state and all combination of these three which will have an equivalent energy of (1²+2²+3²)h²/8pi will be system I think. Means the system will include (1,2,3)(2,1,3)(132)(231)(312)(321)
You're welcome 😊 For problem solving there's no particular book as per my knowledge which is totally dedicated to quantum. Bt you can solve previous years problems or u can purchase arihant publication book for NET SLET there are topicwise problems so it will give you some question to practice.
PANKAJ JANGID, I've made few videos on stereochemistry, and confirmation of cyclobutane, Watch them and I'll make more videos on Organic Chemistry very soon.
Jyoti Bhatt, as I've already told in that question, that there's only one way of assigning value of nx and ny to get total energy, BcoZ if you interchange the values of nx and ny you'll not get the same energy value. Thus Degeneracy will be one
If you put 121, you won't get 9h²/8ml² 1²+2²+1²=6 so it's not possible, The Correct answer is option 1 only and total degeneracy will be 3 only. I hope you got it.. 👍
