I still am loving this a year later... Covid is still around but not as much Thank God!! WE can triumph through this. All of us. Rock on buddies and lovers of the Dev. Shine on!
@@Sun-Eater616 Start from the beginning chronologically. You can't miss. Reversely, if you start from the newest album first you might find a lot more weaker stuff.
Dude, if you read this, I hope you have at least a small inkling of how these "Quarantine Projects" are helping us stay on the right side of sane, not to mention being one hell of a huge inspiration to the musicians on here. Thank you.
Devin, your music has been a salve for me. I lost my wife and mother in law in two days almost exactly a year ago. This year has been so very strange, but your music has been so very cathartic. Thanks for all you do. This fan appreciates it.
I'm feeling bad for your lost loves. But you are brave to share with us your story, and you are a great person 100%. Devin for me was a moment of deep change like 2 years ago: "rejoice" had the right words and I was in the right place where I began to fight again. I did not have a family and lost my ex because of my illness. Epilepsy. So... Let's fight everyday my new friend.
Sky Blue is one of my many favorite records - Dev & Anneke and another of the many facets to Dev's evolution. I wish this manna from Heaven was around in my youth. But as an old man - I'm probably the biggest fanboy of the bunch. I can't believe we get to see Ocean Machine - that would never be possible without this long break in live shows. After 6 years, and miles of comments and pages - I have never come across any fans that aren't beautiful people. There's something very special in this community
This is the most powerful song Devin ever wrote in his life. Sky Blue is my favorite album of all time. I see I posted my thoughts before a few months ago but this song has not lost its effect on me. If I ever lose my wife or one of my sons when we get older I will not be able to listen to this song ever again. I am crying now just thinking about that kind of a loss and hearing the emotion in Devins voice and phrasing of the guitar.
This version is so much better than the original it's unbelievable. You can clearly see how and where Devin wanted to go with this song and that was quite absent in the original mix. Excellent job, Dev! Absolutely loved the stream too!
This has a much more "Accelerated Evolution" sounding mix, which I really like in terms of dynamics and impact. The original Sky Blye album (as most modern metal albums in general) sound a bit too tight to me. The drums sounded weak. This sounds gigantic and properly Townsendy :P :)
Drums sound progressively weaker and more castrated on DT's recent output. He clearly doesn't want to be heavy anymore - even in the rare times when he is playing heavy stuff.
@@Qwerty-ks8dn doesn't always equal 'bad'. Synchestra had some of my favorite drum sounds, and the drums are arguably light on that album. Mixing is a game of compromise.
don't you feel the artist's heart? Devin is making this project to make us forget about this global crisis. The virus is the beginning of a new stop. We will have years and years of depression. So I think you should consider Devin as an "angel", not as a musical factory
Ok, news flash. One dislike....ONE FRICKEN DISLIKE!!???!??. Ok, we're going to find this turd, bring the tar and feathers cause this boob is getting the turkey treatment!
I Suk at Geetar! Same here. As much as I love death metal, this guy puts melody in like no one else. Sky Blue is amazing and there’s spine chilling moments from start to finish.
I bought Z2 without listening to it before and I was amazed by Dark Matters, but Sky Blue really blew me away. It made me open my mind to a new kind of music I never thought I would find in this place. Ah, and Universal Flame is one of my favorite songs ever... not just Dev's... like EVER
I prefer the original, at least for now. On first listen the vocals get drowned out in some places, among other nitpicks. This had some cool added things too, though. Either way song is still great so hey
Sky Blue is my favorite Devin Townsend album. The songs are beautiful. And I found it through a good a friend. It was a great bridge between a terrible part of my life to a great part of my life. It will always have a special place in my heart. Thanks Devin.
the current crisis is doing wonders for the creative communities especially for those who create from home. This is a great example of that. very moving and heartfelt. Great work Devy!
Top notch, the video reflects the beginnings of the corona crisis.. mid section is drowning out Anneke's vocals though. Just listened to Terria, you're brilliant Devin. Thank you for all this good music and inspiration.
This is a very touching song, DT. I know it'll just be another generic comment among all the other comments, but you are genuinely one of the best artists to come around in a long time.
I can't believe this didn't make it on the sky blue album, to think we would have never heard this if it weren't for what was happening right now. I'm glad good things like this are coming out of this hysteria and sadness, thank you Devin.
Hey I saw that stream! Sick that we got to be a part of it. I /really/ dig this mix, Dev! The tweaks are subtle but really really amp up the emotional ferocity of the track. All the back-tracked screaming.... fuck. I appreciate the shit out of you and your work, man.
I had a break up and used skyblue as my motivation album to get exercising and lost 15kg! 94kg to 79kg. For 4 months every day i listened to this straight!
Devin...This Song, and most of Empath are keeping me from blowing apart. Iv'e been off from work, my wife and I able to survive here in the states because of augmented unemployment which will soon end. I was laid off and not sure if they want me back. I feel sort of stuck even though they've opened up the country, I stay concerned about COVID. I get up every morning, make espresso and breakfast with the wife...and proceed to write heavy music on guitar, although I mainly play Bass. Thank You so much for all the Amazing Material and the Quarantine Concerts. God Bless You Always!
This song strikes deep. Words from my husband as he and I tear up through this song. I downplay the word song. This is artistry at it's core. I love Dev and all he does for the world. And for himself. Rest well my friend. Be well. And stay strong. You empower many and move even more. WE love you Dev. Thanks brother, for the music and love.
Hey mec ! Ca fait plus de 20 ans que je t'envois des bisous, et plus de 20 ans que tu motives les musiciens que nous sommes. Plein d'Amour à toi, portes toi bien ! Still wanting to compose with you. This is clearly a fundamental objectiv in my life. So see you Sir Devil TownSound !
Well fuckin done, Devy. As if it even needs to be said, but you sir are the Shepard in a field full of sheep. I was a fan of the original mix as it was. But this adds a whole new level. It has more feeling to it. A harder impact. Well done.
I've probably heard this song loosely about 2 times in the past, but it seems I can follow this song all throughout in melody. I would like to know how this is possible, especially with countless songs available. Surreal.
Man, this sounds great. Devin’s greatest asset is the overwhelming catharsis he seems to infuse in nearly every song, Sky Blue is one of my favorite DTP records, I really love the pop elements throughout. Lots of love to Devin and this wonderful community :)
Damn, this elevates the song so much. Always loved the Sky Blue album, it's a shame it doesn't get more attention from the fans (especially the title track "Sky Blue" - that song is awesome).
@@The1860th Same here. I wasn't a big fan of Dark Matters, but love Sky Blue. I'd love to hear the same treatment he gave this song to Midnight Sun. Absolutely love that song.
Easily my all time favorite track from Dev. It was so amazing seeing you work on this on Twitch. Being able to see the project file and how everything is working was a wet dream. Such an important song to me. Thank you, Dev.
