brian is my favourite musician, nobody can play the organ like him(believe me I have been singing and playing piano&organ for 40 years, although I Am too clever to attempt to play like him)I was fortunate enough to meet my hero back in 2009 in Barcelona, I even was bold enough to tell him he did not record as often as he should. After talking to him I realized he is not only one superb musician but one of the kindest human being I had the honour to chat to. Thanks Brian for your music, you are the man.Greetings from down south Barcelona. ps- everybody keep on listening to lps, that´s the key.
Since 1969, Brian Auger has been "The Man," when I discovered the Oblivion Express Album. What made me love this album so much? I asked myself. Then it hit me: Brian wasn't playing the "usual" stuff. He had melded Jazz with Rock and Funk! "The Man" is flawless. His keyboard ability is 2nd to none. And his strong, mellow voice is high-spirited and very soulful. It's March 2021 and I'm still happily "ridin' The Train." God Bless you and your family, Brian!
Vanessa, you weren’t the only one shouting (me, quietly in my head). Thanks for sharing this, music is life. Thank you also to Brian and the band. This was a magnificent way to spend 2 hours grooving. This performance was as tight as ever.
Thanks Jorma, we spoke at a good length just you and I, I mentioned your Maine 2 hr. Acoustic/Electric shows, at Barrelhouse Tavern. You said something like "Ah the good old days". " When we once were able to pull off those kinda shows' Indeed An experience I still treasure dearly. Again at the ranch, we spoke mano mano, for a brief moment, enuf for me to show my appreciation of our last meet. I'll close with this: "You're man, you're a man you're a mighty good man." Keep spreading shining your light on US! Thank you and your supporters sooo much!
Brian Augers Oblivion Express has been in my vinyl collect almost as long as JA and Hot Tuna. Niels debut album I bought at the ripe age of eleven years old was my first in 1968. JA Surrealistic Pillow Volunteers at 12 years of age soon followed. I feel whole and not changed unlike many of my friends as we've aged as a result. People tell me I've not changed. If you're wholeness aint broke why change. Music has and always be my medicine for the soul. Rock on! Often times the good stuff like the fusion you're seeing is "Close Enough To Be Jazz" *Mr. Rhythm Man former WNKU.
Hey Ronald,. I remember you. I rarely listened to WNKU. Were you on WOBO or WAIF, also? I'm a jazz guy and listened to WNOP and WVXU. I guess I also spent time at WMBU out of Oxford and Saturday night was the Grateful Dead hour at WNKU. I liked WCIN, too. Those were the days. Now it's jazz, bluegrass and Motown on SiriusXM.
This is just amazing and such a nice treat to share with your tribe!! Thank you for throwing the ultimate curve ball because that just sizzled across the plate without any of us expecting a pitch like that!
Wow! I didn't know Brian Auger still had an Oblivion Express? I saw his band once in the '70's some time shortly after high school at the Roxy in Hollywood! Speaking of which, as I write this they were coincidentally playing, 'Bumpin' on Sunset'. How many of these guy's were with him then? I know that the singer Alex Ligertwood, played guitar and sang with Santana for quite a while into the '80's at least, but what he was doing before that? Very surprising and interesting. Thank you! A love supreme, Coltrane. Augy, San Diego
@@rhmayer1 Thanks, So as I indicated I was pretty young when I say the Oblivion Express, thus I learned something. So when I do I'm always grateful! Thanks again, Augy, San Diego
Waaa, fell asleep and only woke up at 4am, this was the first quarantine concert I didn't manage to stay up for. Glad I managed the last half hour. Thanks to all at FPR for keeping us all sane
This is wild. I am watching PBS Newhours but the comment below go to a video I watch previous from the Fur Peace Ranch. Did some put RU-vid in a blender?
A Holidome with this band in the lounge. $2 top shelf from the bar. A chef in the kitchen until midnight and the bed in the room has magic fingers massage for a quarter. Life was good.
