The video is a bit disjointed, appols for that, I suddenly found half way through things didn't align. I sorted it all out but not everything was captured on film. Hopefully you still get the idea....
man that’s awesome, some much nerdy detail that never gets shown or really explained !!! and it’s all coming together ! next week fiberglass and paint! ❤
Brilliant video Danny, love the fasteners. I do enjoy faffing around with a cowl to get the motor lined up spot on and a nice tight, even spinner gap. Very satisfying.
Thanks Ian, not just me then? Yeah love the simplicity of the fasteners. The actual ones are shaped I will do something similar, shaping bits of filler should work. My problem is, as you will see in the next video, I cannot resist a bit of detailing, which distracts me from the bigger picture...... All good fun though, and keeps me out of mischief!
Hi Septic , Bloody good Vid , Sir !! Love the cowl fasteners !! I've been living at the De Havilland Museum , and my friend Pete Shallcross , is the head Archivist, he says , if you need details , just yell !! Cheers Phil
Great stuff Danny, have watched a lot of your videos, very informative and well put together. I'm currently also doing cowl and engine mounting as well on my 1/4 scale plane....although, opposite to you, I need to put in 3deg side trust and 5deg down trust. I made my cowl as a separate part using a copy of the firewall with MDF formers similar to you (side, top, front views etc) except I balsa sheeted it like the rest of the airframe... glassed, auto bog, glazing putty etc, filler primer and detailing/rivets and panel lines. Then took moulds. Keep up the great work, and look forward to the next installment. Cheers
I like your cowling fastener design. Might I suggest making a recessed horizontal grove for the fastener to rest in to help keep from vibrating vertically.
