Agreed. I have their Live Aid live version of "Radio Gaga" downloaded and on my playlist, because it's a million times better than the album version. Not a lot of bands' live performances are better than the album, but Queen is in that category.
@@edizheijden1382 The only playback Queen used live was the operatic section of Bohemian Rhapsody. This performance is obviously not playback. It sounds a lot different from the studio version.
Roger's doing a remarkably amazing job here. You rarely get to see a drummer who keeps the beat that steady and even sings in perfect harmony simultaneously. Hats off.
+ SwedishHouseFifa John was, and still is, an introverted very shy person. It was Freddie who was able to break John free from that stigma during their tenure with Queen. Sad as it is, John was left very scarred after Freddie passed away to the point that he has pretty much become a recluse.
though thats barely even a special thing these days, do you know how many teenagers and young adults are like that? a huge number of them, i guess the difference is that john is an older man, but then again he didnt have what you would call a normal carreer either. so its hard to compare.
JD's a great player but "Another One Bites the Dust" is a reworked version of Chic's "Good Times". Bernard Edwards deserves a lot of the credit for ABTD.
@@alyssanicholson5129 no, ... thank YOU!! Us Deaky and Queen fans always stick together! That guy's gotta be "high" on something to dare say Deaky 'stole' that bass line!😉 lol
JD's is not the original. In music the "borrowing" never stops. ABTD was obviously inspired by Good Times, as were dozens and dozens of tracks incl. Timberlake's "Rock your body". No need to get defensive, Nile Rodgers himself has admitted to and demonstrated how he had done the exact same thing. It's much more common than people realise.
I'd be honored if some Queen fans would come by & give a quick listen to my acoustic piano & vocal live performance of RADIO GA-GA in tribute to one of the band's top 80s-era hits and to Roger Taylor (who wrote the song). Live 1-take recording with no autotune or digital editing. Peace & stay safe.
@@zosolemon2 haha I was thinking "348 likes and no replies?" Not one single person felt confident enough to back that statement up with words lol. I don't even notice Rogers voice but that just me. Rog great bassist and decent songwriter too but singer...🤔🤣

The man is wearing shorts, a cap and a kerchief and is more mesmerizing than any other overly costumed singer today. That’s presence. That’s a person who knows his strengths and owns all of who he is.
Who's wondering about the high quality of this Videos from late 1970's, its becouse they recorded this concert in analouge 35mm film-format. If they had recorded it to any digital Tape at this time, the quality was like max. 360p Video. But they decided to the way more expencive 35mm cinema analouge film cameras and this Films can be scanned today with a special digital read-out scanner and put up to 4k video in impressive quality.
It’s the fucking confidence that he had on stage. I haven’t seen anything like that. And of course the AMAZING guitar and bass riff and the harmonization makes it an awesome piece of music to dance to. Heaven.
I always do that, lol. I still say we should give more recognition to John Deacon for what he brought to Queen, especially this song. He's talented af but the most underrated member of the band. That said, I'll never stop loving Roger for his unique voice and skills!
Kylie Alvey There's nothing more attractive than a confident man and Freddie had that even as AIDS consumed him. His strength and valor through that made Queen/Mercury fans proud
"Another One Bites the Dust" almost never saw the light of day. After Michael Jackson heard the song. Michael told Queen that's a hit record that needs to be released. Queen listened to Michael released the song and the rest is history.
It's not that stuff shot on 35mm film was poor quality in 1981, it's that it's not until recently that the consumer technology has finally caught up and we can finally see this stuff at home in its full glory.
@@Thoracius I don't know much about cameras. But I'm pretty sure that this concert specifically was shot on cameras used for movies instead of the regular ones used for concerts and everyday use, hence why it can be remastered to this extent
Idk, looks pretty 1981 to me…even if it is movie quality. Just from looking at other films and videos from then. The poorer quality back then though was the cable television, the news channels…
@@thatdudevj459 And then the angelic high notes he used to have, that I think came from the years when his mother made him sing as a choir boy! He had a neighborhood band younger than any rock star I've yet heard of--7 years old--but it was a ukelele band, I think--The Bubbling Over Boys! Roger's mother got Queen their first gig. They had to use Roger's name at the top, at first, because he was the only well known one in the area because of all those teenage years playing drums And singing And being the good looking draw for the teenage girls--imagine never having an awkward teenage life, but only one spent as the cutest guy in the neighborhood rock band, and then on to Smile, then Queen/his solo band The Cross (with unknowns.) Brian said on the video, "Roger, I always thought you should have gotten other famous musicians for that band." Roger said, "Now, you tell me that."
Do you think these people knew what magic they were witnessing ? Considering they are still rocking fans with this performance over 30 years later... Freddie's a gift.
I was thinking the exact same thing until at 3:07 you can see the guy in the green jacket that looks totally blitzkrieged and probably witnessing a different kind of magic.
I'm actually pretty sure Deacon wrote the lyrics for this song. But Ur still write in saying that Freddies voice fits this song incredibly well, he breathed some serious life into the lyrics
From my understanding his vocal chords were actually built differently, so it gave him a much wider vocal range. Pair that with perfect pitch and a stellar band that understand how to create the most complementary instrumental track for the vocals and you get this kind of magic.
I was at this concert in Montreal in ‘81 ... brilliant. Freddie was in fantastic voice that night. Also saw them in Ottawa in ‘78 with Graham Parker and Cheap Trick, my first concert (I was 16). Absolutely brilliant both times. Memorable shows.
In defense of some of the more timid appearing concert goers in the front row, I imagine there was a legitimate concern that there could be wardrobe malfunction, and they paid to see Queen, not the Doors.
I was just commenting how I love his style.. it's like he could careless what people think!! No one will ever do this!! I love how he moves perfectly to the beat
👍, 'Action This Day' is the other clip you want to watch as well. Hits on all those points on why. Its baddass. Especially the end - 'Freddies improvisation, his pipes and his Minnelli cabaret' stage end'

Growing up I always thought this song was sung by a black man/group. The fact that Queen was able to create music that sounded like funk to pop to classical to rock is really amazing. They are truly different
Freddie Mercury even said in an interview that some people thought Queen was a black band because of this song. And sometimes people would show up to their concerts and be surprised that they weren't black
That's 35mm film for ya. What is amazing about film is that, if you have the original copies, the films can be expanded to 4k or even 8k quality. That's why we're able to get some amazing footage from the 60's through the 90's.
Schinkenzeit According to Wikipedia, Roger Taylor sang the chorus in earlier live performances, when the audience didn’t know the lyrics that well. Maybe this is an earlier performance?
these were recorded on a 35mm tape, 35mm tape can be cleaned and resized to whatever resolution they want because it's not digital, that's why there's no moon landing footage that looks good, we completely lost the tapes.
@@ReMetallicMusic No, it's because they wanted to PuRpOsEfUlLy mAkE ThE LaNdInG LoOk rEaL. sorry about that it's just that the Landing-hoax believers piss me off & I wanted to make fun of them...
The simplicity in classics like this are unparalleled. Many people think “professional” refers to “level of talent”... but while these boys were and are very skillful, what stands out the most is how well they structure even the simplest parts into a powerhouse anthem
You know a man really owns the stage when he can strip down to booty shorts with no shoes on and everyone is begging for more. He always seemed so self-assured, confident and comfortable in his skin. Love ya Freddie!!! Wish I could have met you!!
These guys are on a whole other level. The music is insane and the vocals are flawlessly executed. I usually don't like the live versions but this one kicked ass.
I gotta admit I didn't really notice him before I saw the movie. Now I think he's "EXTREMELY" talented--And you just gotta love how he's rockin' out on this song!!!! ... ALRIGHT!!!!
this is such a good song to play when having a peaceful time, it blows my mind how great this is. I wish I could turn back time even just for 1 hour to listen to it again
my kid asked me the other day why Queen liked chicken so much? I said... ummmm, what?! Chicken? He goes yeah, this song and the "gimme gimme gimme fried chicken" song! Probably my proudest parent moment ever (so far)!
