I think the Queen Anthurium is just gorgeous but I'm new to them all but decided to take the plunge with a baby and although it's only been 3 months, she's grown 4 new leaves and is doing great so far! Fingers are crossed..... I am in Florida so maybe that's why she's not died yet 🤔 anyway she is a beauty and I love her

i'm pretty sure the people who lived in that area knew about the plant. the german guy didn't discover anything. he took it from its native habitat and brought it back to europe is more accurate.
@ThePlantsMeow
@ThePlantsMeow 4 года назад
As all botanists do unfortunately. He genuinely loved the plants though. He died a few years later exploring plants on his last dime. He decided living among them was where he was happiest. I mention him because he is often overlooked in science and he deserved more.

Your leaf tips are yellowing. It's not as simple as just giving the plant more water to deal with high VPD. What happens is the water evaporates from the leaf before it makes it to the tip, and you end up getting calcium deficiency at the tips.
@ThePlantsMeow
@ThePlantsMeow 2 года назад
Vpd is the relationship between temperature and humidity. There is no place for high humidity in regular household temperatures. Based on that I am not within the “danger zone” where my plants would over perspire or suffocate.

You said that about the 60-minute mark that you put them in a net pot. When you shown yours in the one video where you showed all them and I just made comments on and you replied... I didn't see a net pot. Is that because you then put the net pot in another pot or is the net pot and a cache pot? I know my orchids the miniature ones I was having trouble with them dying when I repotted them Embark and took the Moss away and the little core that they grow around. I bought a wire basket I guess it's like a bread basket or something lined it with Coco coir fiber took some of the Moss away from the root system but didn't move the roots on the miniatures and then put the orchid bark mix around them. The Coco coir fiber kept the bark charcoal and pumice mixture from falling out of the basket. Because of the air flow and not disturbing The Roots those Minis that I potted there were five of them I bought on sale for three bucks at Lowe's because they weren't blooming last August. They now have bloomed numerous times and love love love the air circulation in those wire baskets I bought a few more of The Minis on sale and full price that I'm getting ready to replant. I just soak them in the nutrient solution for about 20 minutes or half an hour to fertilize them. I use orchid fertilizer have strength add Epsom salts to the water one teaspoon per gallon I also give them calcium magnesium mixture from a brand called cow magic it's a liquid. Orchids are calcium Hogs I don't know about anthurium. I also use seaweed emulsion because it has a lot of hormones that help the plant grow roots leaves and flowers. Just like we humans need hormones plants need them to. I also add micronutrients. A man's videos I watch about orchids and African violets it's called Rick's orchids also suggest because orchids are calcium Hogs and he found out the secret at the greenhouses that grow them is they add Epsom brand pelletized lime which slowly releases calcium to the plants. So the orchids have a tiny bit of calcium all the time near the roots. I've got my orchids to rebloom and they're getting huge big healthy leaves not sure if that would help your anthurium. If there an epiphyte they're constantly getting hormones dripping from the trees and calcium everytime it rains so that's why Rick says to use these items and your nutrient solution. Just a thought for you calcium is used if you watch one of his videos on calcium and magnesium calcium is used in every cell and calcium is not a mobile nutrient so if a plant Orchid or any kind of plant needs calcium it can't recycle it from an older leaf it has to be in the soil mix or the water and most calcium can be absorbed from or tap water. I love your videos I love your in theory m I might might might if I get enough money buy one because they are so very beautiful

Just got my Queen yesterday. She's a narrow dark form. I don't use any soil in my aroid mix at all and all my Philedendrom are thriving. I don't like soil so I'll use a little coco coir instead. I'm gonna try and mimic your mix..I'm so glad I live in Kissimmee Florida where the average humidity monthly is about 75%. My tropical plants including rare ones grow like weeds. My Queen is from North Florida where the humidity is lower so it should enjoy my home more then it's last. Can't wait to get her. Thanks for the video it was perfect. Your bits about humidity/air flow outdoors vs. indoors and how plants grow differently in general indoors/outdoors was a huge insight for me. It seems so obvious now. THANK YOU! I was trying to maintain 65% in my fancy plants room but gave up. I think 55% will be perfect. My queen dropped all her leaves but I have one beautiful leaf now. I'm picking up my queen on Wednesday & I'm so so nervous. What should I do with her as soon as I get her home? I don't have a "green house" or anything like that. I just have a fan and humidifier in my "plant room" which is just our front sitting room that has a bunch of my plants in it. I'm buying a milsbo cabinet and outfitting it with lights an a fan, but I'm not ready yet so I don't know what to do with her 😬 she's in sphagnum moss

It looks as if the bark mixture you're using has pumice in it cuz there's big chunks of white stuff. And I know the chart the Orchid mix I use has charcoal pumice I believe it has some chunks of Coco coir but not fine Coco coir just some chunks like as if they were a piece of bark. I know my orchids love that mixture I do add a little bit extra promise and a little extra charcoal to the mix I think I'm going to use the same mix for my Hoyas that I'm repotting. And the only reason I'm repotting them is I have found for Hoya plants that are Hindu rope that I want to pot together and I have some tiny little other Hoyas that were just rooted cuttings that I want to put in a pot together. So I'll probably add soil like you just did for your anthurium mix my other choirs I've had for a couple years and never repotted some people say not to repot leave them alone for years and years other people say re pot them

Aloha Meow, thank you for well done, & highly informational video. I recently received a Queen Esmeralda from Ecuagenera USA, & she is beautiful w/ 5 leaves, plus a new unfurling leaf, & lots of ariel roots. I was so excited I turned around 2nd Queen Warroqueeanum X Waterburyanum, because I thought it was dark form. Esmeralda is lighter green. After I impulsively ordered WxW I tried to research, but haven’t found much info. Well, WxW arrived today, & she is also beautiful. Although sitting Esmeralda next to WxW, it’s easy to see the Waterburyanum in her. A bit wider, a bit shorter, & not the dark form. My questions is: What is the purpose of crossing this hybrid??? I’m thinking maybe it’s to make the hybrid easier & stronger to care for??? But that’s just a guess…. PS: near the end of video you jokingly called yourself a witch, but you seem more like a Mystic Queen to me…… Aloha

Hi. I need help identifying what can be wrong with my newly acquired plant. Have you yellow dots on the leaves? I’m also seeing the spots on the newly unfurled leaf 🥺

Hey hun, I’m after some advise. I received an Anthurium Veitchii (posted) last week that was in wet moss & yellowing leaves. Decided to remove moss, checked roots 👍 & repot in leca. Roots are half way up pot & look ok but leaves still turning yellow. Should I have potted in open mix or am I just panicking too much. Would really appreciate any advice. Thanks

I bought a queen seedling from NSE tropicals in october (I live in SE Louisiana). She was doing AMAZING, not a single sign of acclimation damage UNTIL a huge ice storm hit us mid February. The super low temps were too much for me to protect her and on top of that she dried out a few times without me noticing😖. I just moved her to a slightly more shady spot (spring is really starting to heat up here) and increased her watering. So far her roots are fine; I noticed a bit of drying from those few missed waterings, but from now on I’m doing my best to keep her consistently moist. Her newest leaf is still holding on strong but the smaller immature leaves are yellowed. I’m just hoping she’ll put out a new one soon and forgive me for my sins. Your videos are incredible, I come back to them at least a few times every month. I love your philosophy of compromise with your plants! I have noticed an incredible difference in quality from her to my other anthuriums, it’s almost like Enid is known as the queen of anthuriums for a reason😉
