Most of the doctors also didn't have much experience with childbirth. There's actually a theory that childbirth for royal women was more dangerous because they were almost exclusively treated by high-status male doctors without much experience in delivering babies and not seasoned midwifes. It was not "socially acceptable" for a royal princess or queen to be treated by a lowly midwife.

The scene where Charlotte is walking down a corridor, and she is trying so hard not to cry, not fall apart in all her loneliness. He is 5 steps behind her. He pauses, watches, and extends his hand out to hold her without touching her...touching just the air between them. That scene alone is beautiful. I absolutely LOVED this scene. He basically told the Archbishop to move bih get out the way get out the way get out the way 😂...& threatened him. Then he not only didn't leave her side, but pretty much saved Charlotte's & the baby's life with his method of delivery. The doctor was useless. He loved that woman. All the history books stated the same of his love for her. He never ever took a Mistress, unlike all the other men in his family. It was also said that they had a very happy marriage...I guess aside from his illness.
@lyraserpentine894
@lyraserpentine894 Год назад
So, this is partially accurate. Though George never took a mistress, during his bout of mental illness, he did inappropriately approach many of the queen's attendants. So, though he never cheated on her, he tried, and trying to paint him as anything but what he was is an inaccurate telling of reality. We can blame his mental illness, but the truth is that he still made unwanted advances to women who were not his wife, and that's not loyalty by any means.

@@lyraserpentine894 Do not underestimate the toll of untreated and misunderstood mental illness. George had fits of hallucinations; moments where he was not him and the world was not his. Moments where he forgot who he was. In a time where the right medication did not exist and where it was all misunderstood and where he could not see her half the time. You cannot measure loyalty for him against the same standards you do to people not having his condition because that is unfair. He was a good husband, King and father. Or not. Some women have pleasurable births, some don't really feel more than the uncomfort of being pregnant, and some are in such excruciating pain they don't know what to do. There was a video of a woman that gave birth to her fourth child technically at the hospital, but by herself really, without meds. It was very quick too, and it didn't seem to hurt at all. Tho it was likely the overall physical uncomfort of pregnancy and labor than painful. If Charlotte did that 15 times then there's a good chance it got much easier than this. Ideally...

The way he supported her when she needed him the most speaks volumes about his love. Even though he was so scared to speak assertively he could defy Archbishop and show him that he is a king! He used his power to protect his love!

IRL they did love each other a lot. So much for the horrors of “arranged” marriages that people hack on so much. Actually, they had about the same hit and miss as we do now, and they weren’t forced (mostly) into it after maybe the medieval era. Even Eleanor of Aquitaine picked Henry II.

Well it depends. In the case of a young teenager coupled with a hairy old ogre I can't see how there can be ever a pleasant moment for the girl.

I feel like probably no couple ends up with 15 children unless they have a considerable attraction to one another.

Never ever, stand between a man, and his wife or kids. If he's good and loves them, you will be risking death. Same way around for a woman whom loves her man and her kids. Just don't. Especially if they're the head of state!!😂😂🎉🎉

George needed Charlotte 99% of his reign. But the 1% area where she needed him; he was calm and sane. He saved their lives. He gave his best mind in that moment.
