For four days and nights in September 2022 the coffin of Queen Elizabeth II was lying in state in Westminster Hall, the oldest part of London's Palace of Westminster (a palace that includes the UK Houses of Parliament). Despite queues of up to 25 hours I headed to London to pay my respects and experience this unique once-in-a-lifetime event. The Queen had been monarch of the UK all my life, a constant in a world of massive change and challenge. The experience was incredibly moving, especially walking through the 1097 Westminster Hall and seeing the coffin first hand, draped with three pieces from the Crown Jewels. It was a unique pilgrimage, and something that will stay with me forever. Video is from the official live stream and shows me briefly (left of screen) walking through the Hall past the coffin.
