Not only did she name herself Lady Gaga, because of the song, but also because of the deep connection she feels with Freddie, and by proxy, Elton John. She modeled her etire persona after those two, the show elements from both of her idols, and the bravado of Freddie, she chose her roll-models well, and she proudly wears it on her sleeves, Lady Gaga is great :)

QUEEN never broke up ever!!!! His diagnosis was not till 1987. The last album was released 5 years after his death! The whole album but the last verse was Freddie. He sang into a recorder in bed with a keyboard and drum machine. Brian kept writing and Freddie kept singing. It was heart wrenching for the band to put the album out posthumously, but they did. The album is Made in Heaven, it is beautiful.

Another fun fact: Sting said later in an interview that the other bands were sitting below the stage in the common areas and everyone was looking at the screen going "they're doing it. - They're stealing the show.". Mind you, everyone tried that day but it was Queen who walked away with the prize.

I quote another fan: "Queen only accepted the invitation to perform Live Aid bc the guy that orchestrated this from the Boomtown Rats had listed them as having already accepted playing. They finally accepted, and then backstage before this performance, the band was arguing bc they didn't think they'd be relevant in comparison to all the other more "current" singers from 1985. They thought no one would know/like them at that particular concert since they were popular 10 years prior. Then they came out, played a 21 minute set and stole Live Aid. That was the first time anyone had seen a performer command the audience to that level. When Radio Gaga played and the entire audience did the hand clap motions, it wasn't just the audience in Wembley stadium. This was live broadcasted with another concert in Philadelphia (the biggest concert to date at that time as it was live streamed to a ton of countries and had 2 Live Aid concerts going on at the same time. Matter of fact, side note: Phil Collins played on the Wembley stage and then got on a Concord, flew to Philly and played onstage at Philly for the concert), and the entire audience in Philly did the hand clap motion and could be seen via big screen satellite. There were thousands of people who were doing the hand clap motions between the 2 concerts and everyone (including other artists) were in complete awe of the whole experience. It was overwhelming the amount of people who responded to Queen. Also, when Queen took the stage, that's when massive amounts of donations poured in for the cause. 2 billion people saw the concert all over the globe. Biggest audience ever. This was monumental in music history"

It was Freddie who got the audience, he reached out and gathered them in the palm of his hand, he did it wherever he went, didn’t matter if they were there or watching on film or TV! Oh, and something Freddie would have loved, all radio stations had a Queen CD ready for the news of Freddie’s death, each DJ was told to just put the disc on and press the play button, the DJ on the local commercial station in Liverpool, England, duly put the CD in and pressed the play button, the track that came on was “Another One Bites The Dust”!!!

ChemicalReactions! - First, they NEVER broke up before Live Aid and just did a massive stadium tour until a couple of months before. That was just for drama. Secondly Freddie wasn't diagnosed with AIDS until 1987 and Live Aid was in 1985. He may have been suffering early symptoms like the sore throat he had at Live Aid. The other stage was in Philadelphia. David Bowie followed them. A lot of BIG names were po'd to have to follow Queen who stole the show at a time when some considered them "has been's". All four had solo projects, not just Freddie. Brian and Roger did solo stuff and John played with other groups. Why is it always ...Brian May, great guitarist? Freddie, great front man. Roger, singing drummer ...BUT....John Deacon is never mentioned. He wrote a lot of their great and biggest selling songs (look it up), was a top rated bassist and was a great dancer (DISCO DEAKY). You talked about tapping your toe. Did you tap it to Brian's guitar solo? Nope. You tap to John's throbbing bass, the backbone of all their songs. Give Deaky some respect. I'm sick of my favorite being ignored. He also was an electrical engineer (Brian wasn't the only one with a degree) who invented the "Deacy" amp which Brian used throughout his career (it had never been duplicated for decades). It allowed him to make the unique vocal and orchestral sounds he did with his guitar.... a major factor in Queen's and Brian's success. Freddie's "arrogance" was his stage persona. People who knew him said he was kind and even a bit shy. I saw them live. They were the best live act I ever saw and I attended a lot of concerts as far back as The Beatles (who were sadly held back by lousy technology in the 60's). Your reaction needs some research.

An important bit of clarification between what the film showed vs real life: Freddie was NOT diagnosed w HIV until 2 yrs after Live Aid in 1987. And, Live Aid wasn't the band's "swan song", as the film kind of makes it feel: They were actually rejuvenated as-a-group by their awesome performance this day, so decided to do a massive concert tour the following year (1986) playing all giant stadium venues. (During the tour, they were also the FIRST band to play behind the Iron Curtain, in Budapest.) Then, in 1987 (after he received his diagnosis) Freddie pursued a life-long dream of his, to write/sing an operatic performance w soprano Montserrat Caballe, whom he idolized: called Barcelona.
@fryke
@fryke 5 лет назад
Plus: "The Miracle" in 1989 was a massive success, even though he wasn't able to perform live any longer. "Innuendo" in early 1991 went straight to number 1 as well. So, yeah, Live Aid definitely wasn't the swan song. However, I understand from the filmmaker's perspective that their Live Aid performance fits for the end of the movie. They wanted to leave the audience with that majestic feeling that Queen concerts tend(ed) to leave the audiences with. That they therefore had to push the diagnosis before the Live Aid event is a pity, but it makes sense from a storytelling point of view.

Hi guys I really love your reactions. Since you talked in lenght about Queen and Live Aid after you saw the concert I want to draw your attention to some points😉 1. Queen never broke up, not before Live Aid nor afterwards. They had just completed a huge world tour of the The Works album. They did not tour the US for several reasons. So they were pretty at their game at that point. 2. Freddy was not diagnosed with Aids at the time of Live Aid. He learned about it in 1986 during the Kind Of Magic Tour. The Magic tour was their biggest and last tour, selling out stadiums all over the world. They did not toured the US. 3. Queen were huuuge all over the world throught the 80ies. After The Works album they made 3 more album during Freddys lifetime. All of them sold millions everywhere but not in the US. Their last album Made In Heaven alone sold over 20 million copies worldwide. The Movie Bohemian Rhapsody is quite good, but it states some facts horribly wrong, which is quite annoying when you know the truth. I‘m not a fanboy, I just happend to witness the 80ies as a teenager😀 Nevertheless, great reaction. Thank you.

Now you guys need to react to 'Show must go on' by Queen. Recorded only about a month before Freddie's death. Brian May said that Freddie looked really sick at the time (he was really thin) and he was afraid that Freddie could not do the vocals but Freddie really stepped up and literally did a one take on the vocals. He said that he was going to perform write and record until he couldn't stand up any more and the lyrics of the song really describes how his mentality towards music and art was. Patricia you are right and I couldn't agree with you more. If you watch the video Days of Our Lives Part 2; it is explained all about the group and their hits. When group wanted to release Bohemian Rhapsody, it was rejected b/c of the length. The record company was shocked that it went for estimated 6,000 copies sold to 60,000 copies sold over night. Also the song was released 3 times and each time it went big. First with the original release in 1975; I think when it was performed at Live Aid 1985; and in 1991 when Wayne's World was released. However, I don't know if the single climbed the charts again when the Bohemian Rhapsody movie was released in 2018. It seems that every time the song gets released; the song climbs up there. I think if Freddie was alive today, he would be shocked at just know much that song has done over the years. RIP Freddie Mercury.

thanks Guys, as a Queen fan from the late 70's, I personally get frustrated, when people get facts about the band wrong, now with the Movie out, lots think it's a "documentary" but lots of the story is distorted for dramatic purposes. I don't blame anyone. I'm a bit of a super fan, I've seen EVERYTHING produced on Queen so my trivia on the band is pretty full on. The biggest error was the "breakup" that never happened. Freddie was doing Mr Bad Guy before Live Aid but with the full support of the band, plus Rogers band "The Cross" had a great sound. The best doco for Queen is a 3 volume VHS set (It's that old) called "Queen: Magic Years" which was filmed after the huge Magic tour in '86, after Live Aid, it's the best and most honest "behind the scenes" look at the Band and Freddie with interviews from a bunch of awesome musicians, friends, roadies, crew and just well known fans. I still to this day get emotional when I listen to the "Made in Heaven" album, songs like "The Show Must Go On" feels like Freddie saying goodbye to each one of us true fans. I sometimes feel a bit robbed by losing the greatest frontman in history. Even now, even the best vocalists admit the vocals in Queen songs have to be altered (pitch/key etc) because nobody can replicate his vocals. George got close in Somebody to love, but interviews with artists from the '92 Tribute concert all said they had to change the songs. He will never be forgotten, even if the Movie is not really accurate, I love that Freddie and the boy's are immortalized now in this way. "Not bad for 4 aging Queens". much love Freddie. R.I.P.

You just witnessed the greatest front man to ever perform. Freddy Mercury could hold a crowd in palm of his hand.

Nice reaction, please react to more Queen. May I suggest from the mid 70's White queen live at Hammersmith, The prophet's song,March of the black queen, Stone cold crazy, great king rat, Flick of the wrist, Seven seas of Rye, Death on two legs and from the 1981 Montreal show: somebody to love, dragon attack and bohemian rhapsody.

I love how the dad is into it from the start and his daughter slowly becomes seduced. They both have to know that this is probably the best short live show ever with a front man that will never be equalled.

Did you know Freddie wrote Crazy little thing in the bathtub? He got hold on a guitar, rushed down to the studio and had to record it at once - and it got to be a great hit. One thing for your daughter to think of: Watch the audience. There were ca 70.000 at Wembley, 100.000 at JFK stadium, broadcast all over the world. But this is the footage we have today. No candid cameras, no cellphones, no RU-vid uploads. This was not Queen's ordinary audience. Many of them came for other artists, or just for the good cause. I don't think we will ever have a similar concert today. It wouldn' be possible to deny people to bring their phones ...

Wow I was Juliet's age when I first watched this with my Dad. It hasn't gotten old yet either. This should be shown in every school on earth, just like teaching Shakespeare. The greatest show on earth, stolen by the Greatest Showman of all time.

I would like to request one of my favorite queen songs that no one seems to ever react to or playtime ain't that great but imo one of their best.....Another one bites the dust 🤗. Thank you. Also if y'all can delve into Lynyrd Skynyrd.
