His calmed way of speaking makes me wanna stop him in a half of a sentence to make it go faster! I hate it! Brian: "Well, I'm speaking, speaking, speaking... Me: "Ok, basically, it's that and that"! Brian: "Well, yes... But..." Me: "Yeah, yeah, I got it! Thank you"!
Now Now! U2 actually did an amazing job, Bono even went down to help security get 3 women free from the crowd crushing them, its well documented. They actually lost the time to do the song PRIDE. in order to help the crowd. No doubt Queen stole the show...... Freddie Mercury was a unique talent and gift to the world! ...But make no mistake, Queen went through their own troubles as a band, a breakup and Freddie trying a solo career...... We are all fortunate to be fans and enjoy his gifted voice!
Don't base your "knowledge" on the film. The performances were great, but the writers took a LOT of liberties with the "facts." Do some research. They all did solo projects. In fact, Roger was the first one to do a solo project. They never actually broke up, and Freddie didn't find out about his AIDS until a few years after Live Aid. @@shaunaweisman1119
+Mark Boston I think they probably did know they would be the best, barring any technical problems they had no control over happening on the day. Their competition was the New Romantics, who were all crap musicians by comparison, and other veteran acts like The Who and McCartney who hadn't played live for years. By comparison, Queen were a well oiled machine and were very used to playing stadiums in South America in particular. And of course Queen turned the limiters off the PA's, which was probably always in the plan, so they came across louder than anyone else.
+Matt Maloney I have to argue with you Matt. Lots of very hot at the time groups were at wembly including, U2, sting, phil collins, dire straights, Elton John and even more in Philly. I think Queen expected to do well, they always have and Freddie Mercury was one hell of a singer (on my all time greatest list for sure), but to do what is considered the Greatest Live Performance of All Time.....I don't think they knew they were going to do that.
+manturian U2 (vastly overrated IMHO), Sting (far better in the Police), Phil Collins (same story - at his best in Genesis), Dire Straits (a really good pub rock band, not suited to stadium performances), Elton John (middle of the road balladeer). Don't get me wrong, I like quite a few of these acts but Queen were always destined to steal the show from this lot unless they had a REALLY REALLY BAD DAY! Personally, I reckon the only one they might have been worried about was David Bowie.
Alana Thomson Agreed, but i wrote that months ago before getting to know more about them, by the fact this was the first interview i have ever saw of them together, so i didn't know anything, later on i heard he was extremely nervous for the Live Aid performance, and unfortunate in so many ways i end up getting a bit obsess with him... x3
If you're here having NOT seen "Bohemian Rhapsody" yet, ignore ALL the negative reviews and the critics and SEE IT! It's a GREAT movie. I've been a Queen fan since 1977, so trust me! :)
Paul V. And they won BEST PICTURE at the Golden Globes this year 2019 and RAMI who portrayed Freddie WON BEST ACTOR tonight!!! I’m so so so happy about this! Great movie and GREAT acting!!! I’m obsessed with this movie, etc!,!
Cheryl.....get a grip!...how very disrespectful of you..saying that about Freddie Mercury...it speaks of how little you know about him... how dare you call him an ”hysterical Queen”....I see that you’re fluent in trash talk.
This is an awful 'lesson' to put out there, but imagine if he had refrained from the 'pleasures of smoking' only to live a longer life... what a waste that would've been. He lived to the full in that regard too, I suppose.
Jemppu ...... yeah, if he wasn't a peter puffer he may still be alive today. Ultimately it comes down to your genes when talking about smoking cigarettes though. My great grandfather and great great hrandfathers were still alive when I was born and they smoked their entire lives. Yet there are people who never smoke who die from cancer at 30, or younger.
Nothing...let me say this again... NOTHING is for NOD! Whether you saw this live today, or from a tape from 40 years ago. if you can feel it, Then it lives inside of you! If it is inside of you, then it lives! It can change you because of the electricity it has within itself. It is alive! Just think about it. ;)
Roger Taylor has a degree in Biology, John Deacon has a degree in Electrical Engineering and Brian May has a Doctorate in Astrophysics. Damn straight they're intelligent
the best thing about Freddie Mercury is that there's no "I", its a "we". They're a tight, cohesive team - they are a team of musicians. It reflects articulately in their music as a whole. Salute to one of the greatest rock band of all time!
3:58 the way Freddie looks at Brian while saying "We're just gonna go and play". He knows the band kicks ass. All of them. It was a pure and honest gesture of "We got this, i ain't worried".
Interviewer: There aren't meant to be any egos involved. Brian: Oooh, no. No egos at all, no. John and Roger's faces: Egos? Us? Never. Freddie's face:... Well, I can't help it, darling!
Freddie Mercury is surprisingly down to earth. He shows no sign of an inflated ego in spite of his major stardom. Just sorry I never got to see him perform live. RIP.
I especially loved the scene where deacy introduces another bites the dust to the band but an argument between the other 3 breaks out. With no involvement in it, he just sits down and plays, changing the mood between the others. Love him❤️❤️❤️
@@shaunaweisman1119 being mean is typical of modern day american women...they've gotten far to big for their britches...men have allowed them to get this way, so they are suffering now..till we finally put women back in their respectable place.
@@bigconan Do you see what you actually just wrote conan? You are going to put us back in our place are you? Much like a pipe when you have finished using it? Or an automobile when you park it in the garage?.....You poor poor little man! Modern day women have come forward because they were oppressed by men such as you... I speak my mind as a fellow human being, not because of my gender (which you define as a woman as being a thing, an object to be put away once used)....You see "bigconan", you actually don't know history very well. Because if you did you would have known that women have been an intrical part of the world and its growth over the last 5 thousand years... Women have been oppressed in many countries and treated as a lesser human...Unfortunately for you and people like you, we no longer just sit back and take it, and thankfully common laws are being used properly to make sure we all get equal balance.....Instead of calling yourself "bigconan", perhaps the best suit for you to wear is that of a Troglodyte Caveman... I don't need to insult you here, you shined your ignorance and wore it well for everyone to see.....So so sad that there are men like you!
DAMN the actors in the movie got these guys' movements down to a science, especially Rami Malek as Freddie but honestly they all did so well and it must have taken an insane amount of work & dedication
Interviewer- So do you think egos will get in the way of this project? Brian- No! Roger-Not at all John-Nope(kind of mouths it) Freddie-No words, just that face that says, Pfft duh! All day every day!
Def go see it. In a huge way, I cant help but think where Freddie & Queen would have been had he still been alive. Such an amazing voice, amazing group.
My name is Debi........... I'm a SUPERFAN and it's been 17 hours since I've watched my last Queen video......I'm having difficulty breathing, I cannot crack a smile, I'm hearing "I'm going slightly mad" in my head and I'm seeing visions of Freddies mustache........I have a problem! Truly love you Queen!!!!
Actually Brian's voice is even more calm and soft...Freddie, normally, as the greatest singer he was...normally had to have a voice with high and low pitches...you can't actually be a great singer if you don't have that...
Man it's so strange to see such a massive band being so humble in an interview and so respectful of each other. You know it's not just the massive ego frontman or the lead guitarist everyone comes to the show to see or the one guy they've designated to be the talker, they're just all mates having a good time
This isn't backstage before the show, it's an interview during their time rehearsing at the Shaw Theatre on Euston Road, London a couple of weeks before Live Aid. The biggest bands and acts of the day played at Live Aid in the UK and US, but at 18:40 BST at Wembley, Queen walked onto the stage and blew every other act away and tore the roof off Wembley Stadium. Fucking outstanding! The greatest moment in music from the greatest band of all time. Long live Queen
Queen snuck in their personal sound man, who tweaked the sound system to their liking, and when they started playing, it blew everyone away !!!They opened with "Bohemian Rhapsody" and proceded to play a 25 minute set that kicked everyone's ass !!!Geldof, McCartney, and John, were backstage when Queen played, and they remarked " OK who's going to follow that?" Nobody could follow that set !!!!
I love their energy , the clear bond that they had and actually very un-Diva-ish. Their body language is very warm and Freddie does NOT hog space unlike the way the movie depicts him.So refreshing
This band is so unique, even their Interview is magical!!! Their Performance at this Event showed how brilliant and outstanding they were!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
It’s so amazing to me how well educated all the men were. Some singers just don’t go for further education and say they want to sing and that’s what they are gonna do. These guys literally had amazing degrees and Brian eventually got his doctorate. So cool. I know they aren’t the only band to have degrees. But of legendary status and as big as they are and were, it’s just awesome to know that.
Yep! Did you know that Brian went on to become a university professor at Cambridge after Queen? He is an astrophysics expert. Damn, despite graduating as a psychologist I stopped understading math at 12, and I would have lasted less than a fish out of water in a science faculty, but if I studied in Cambridge, I would go for astrophysics only to have him as a teacher.
I was in 11th grade when Freddie passed away, I remember playing "we will rock you" as we entered the opposing schools pool. We kicked their asses that day! I loved Queen then and still do. RIP Mr. Mercury
Honest, impatient, forthright and real. Kind of miss that nowadays, not much intelligence around and too much ego...thanks for the uplifting memories and for the brutal force you gave the live rock world guys.
I LOVE ALL OF THESE GUYS. This particular video is one of my favorites because John is just there. With his big smile. Just being John, and happy to be in the moment.
Bass players tend to be the ‘quiet ones’... you got to watch those 😉 Must admit it would have been incredibly devastating to lose such a close friend 😔
"For a change, the money's going to go to the right place". Brian, you made my heart swell with that statement. You're all immensely wealthy, and you've all earned it. So glad you could see the good your talents could do for others. I've come to deeply admire and love Queen.
I love how soft spoken Brian is. You can tell how much they love and admire each other just the way they are. It’s crazy how quiet and shy John is too. You’d think being in a band that would not be the case!! God i wish we still had Freddie. I’ve seen many people asking God to take Kanye West and bring back our beautiful, amazing, wonderful and TALENTED Freddie Mercury!!!! (FYI before anyone might get offended because there are a lot of ❄️, i don’t wish Kanye dead i just think he’s talentless and Freddie was amazing and has been missed for almost 30 years.😢)
I love that they are ; a dentist, an angineer, a physicist, a (graphic?) designer and gave us this great music chosing it over their initial professions...thank you forever..
Freddy went to school of arts which is basically acting, not graphic designing. But yeah, all of them have college degrees which is rare to see in the bands these days
The Greatest Performance in Rock History! ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ QUEEN was Awesomeness!!!!☆☆☆☆☆ Miss you Freddie, but you're forever in our Rock n Roll hearts♡♡♡♡♡♡
all of a sudden im into Queen again after watching the movie last week, we have been blazing ALL Queen music in the house. what a legendary band! But what a humble bunch of lads after watching this interview. BRAVO!
I'm here after i watched the movie Bohemian Rhapsody. They are all amazing musician & oh!freddie were indeed a legend.Their songs will never dies.Rami Malic is an amazing actor,He gave justice to the role👍👍👍.Amazing Amazing🔥🔥🔥
The word Legends isn't even big enough to place on these four guys mantle. The world will never see a band of their stature again. Greatest British band ever ( IMHO ).
Queen's performance at Live Aid was, IMHO, the absolute best live performance I've ever seen. I would have given anything to have actually been there rather than just seeing the TV broadcast. I'm so glad to see this background, which I'd never seen before, so thanks. :)
They're all so young and they talk like it's amazing how they are still at it. Little did they know back then that bands like Queen never go out of style, and they play as long as there is breath in them because they enjoy it and people will always want to hear it.
Roger's reaction at 2:40 is so cute, Freddie is talking about their last song (which doesn't include John or Roger) and jokes on it (the fact that Rog and John are totally excluded of it) and Roger is like "Okay, we laugh about this, very well" just after checking for John's reaction
I have been a. 'Queen Freak' a. 'Freddie Fanatic' for so long...nothing ever has surprised me about Queen's ability. It's just soooo great to see them get the acclaim that they have ALWAYS deserved!!!
