Guys, there were 72,000 people in that stadium. 72,000 people that sang in sync and at his command. We will NEVER have another Freddie Mercury. Ever.... 🥺😔

@Luke Mills just be great full, if it wasn’t for Lambert we wouldn’t have Queen as a band anymore. I like him, but he just doesn’t seem to be a rock guy. Don’t take it away from Adam he’s a good singer, but no matter who you bring into Queen, don’t dare compare them to Freddie because we know who wins. It’s Freddie always and it’s so hard to compare the 2. Adam is definitely a more pop-ish kind of guy. I think they need Marc Martel if they want the same king of singing, but if we want the same stage performances we need Lambert. If I had to pick, I’d pick Marc Martel but yet again, don’t compare anyone to Freddie because it’s not fair to the singer and whoever sings for Queen will never EVER be nowhere as good as Freddie.

Interesting factoid: the next act after Queen was David Bowie. Apparently Bowie said to someone just as Queen were taking their bows, "How the FUCK am I supposed to follow that?" And Elton John went to their caravan afterwards, came in and said, with a huge smile, "You bastards! You've stolen the show!"

They played short versions because every band on the day only had a short time slot. Around 20 minutes only. Lots of bands played only 2 or 3 songs, Queen understood and got more songs in by only playing a bit. That was one of the reasons they were so good that day, that and the quality of their music and performance. I remember the day like it was yesterday, was it really 36 years ago......

In my opinion, this was THE Greatest MOMENT in Rock History! Now you know how Queen stole the show on July 13, 1985! I bought my 1st VCR the day before specifically to record the entire 24 hour performance. I bought the DVD many years later, so I have literally enjoyed this performance 100s of times, and for the last 20 years, I celebrate the anniversary by watching again every July 13 at the same time of day as their performance. Yours was the most joyful reaction to Queen/Live Aid that I've seen, and I knew it was going to be fantastic to share in your experience! Makes me feel like it's 1985 watching it LIVE all over again! Love how you guys keep it real! And I don't care what Wikipedia says, there just HAD to be 200,000 people there. Doesn't Wembley Stadium seat 80-100,000? The entire field was WALL to WALL people STANDING, packed together like sardines. I've been at a Rock Shows (Bowie, Stones) at 90,000 fans. This just HAD to be twice that! 🇨🇦🍁🇨🇦

I understand why you say that but watch another 60,000 Londoners (many of them not alive in 1975 when this song was released) in Hyde Park at a GREEN DAY Concert all sing it before Green Day took the stage. I was in complete awe and also devastated with what was happening in Africa. I laughed, I cried, I sang my little heart out and donated. I used a cassette tape and recorded them from it, telling my mum to be quiet lol. London's Wembley Stadium; July 13, 1985; Live Aid concert for Ethiopian Famine Relief; an audience of over 100,000 people (with another 100,000 in the United States). Freddie said he was only about 70% vocally, but took 3-4 shots of vodka and went out on the stage. While other bands played all their newest hits, Queen hadn't performed together for a while so they stuck with mostly stuff everyone would know. It's reported that after their performance, as Queen was leaving the stage, the next act to go on (the legendary David Bowie) supposedly said "How the f*ck am I supposed to follow that?!?!", and Sir Elton John said to Freddie, "You know you just stole the whole f*cking show!" And he did. For 20+ minutes, the UK was ruled by a different "Queen". In an interview, Freddie was once asked what was his favorite thing to play, and his reply was, "The audience, darling". And he did that... very well. 1st song - Bohemian Rhapsody 2nd song - Radio Ga Ga 3rd song - Hammer to Fall 4th song - Crazy Little Thing Called Love 5th song - We Will Rock You/We Are The Champions

Amazing. This is the best concert of all time in my opinion. The phone lines were going quiet until queen came on. Watch the movie 🎥 bohemian rhapsody if you've not seen it. Then rewatch this.

8:32 it is hammer to fall. I think Queen was one of the best if not best rock band. Freddie Mercury with his personality and amazing singing skills, we mis u freddie❤️, Brian May with his epic guitar skills, John Deacon with the bass and Roger Taylor behind the drums. When i first listened to them i was like woooow this is amazing, i was speechless. I Just love them🙏🏻❤️

I also defy you to not cry when you experience him sing Barcelona with Monserrat Caballe (live versions, obviously - and yes, he wrote it!). It'll blow your now educated (musically) minds :-)

Guys I saw them in Dallas, after modeling for fourteen hours. Boy did I quickly forget I was tired! Freddie Mercury was amazing but they were all fantastic! We were backstage when the limos were waiting for them, Freddie walked out with two guys! Brian May stoped the limo and called me over I should have gone! Great Night!!

Freddie had problems with his throat this day, and performed against doctors advice. After the show someone asked how his throat was and he said “like I’ve been gargling glass shards”.
