I was there, second row from stage, paid a tenner for ticket 🎟 Me and a couple of buddies arrived in a white Ford Capri, haggled this guy selling tickets to 30 quid for 3 tickets to see the best concert I've ever seen. I remember it took us over an hour to find our car afterwards as there were many white Capri's! Kept running upto them saying this is it, there it is, 😆 Great memory of my early 20s.
I was 16 years old, and this was the first live concert I had ever been to. Being in that crowd watching the wave of hands clapping to Radio Ga Ga as the sound travelled to the back of the crowd (we were in the first third near the stage) is one of the true highlights of my memory. Incredible band!!
I remember going to this concert, it was the best concert that I’ve ever been to. Amazing, Freddie was a musical genius. I’m so lucky and thankful that I got to see him with queen live. I will always remember this forever. Miss you Freddie
You're the luckiest person in the world to see final live performace of Freddie , i born two years later after the tragic passing of Freddie , but i'm so happy to be Queen fan for 15 years
I was 16 when Freddie Mercury died. I had just got into Queen. The greatest band of all time. I am 45 now, and still there is no person or band that even comes close to the genious of Freddie and Queen. They were simply the greatest.
I wasn't much older than yourself, I only really started listening to Queen when they released The Works album. Still the best band on the planet by far. Freddie Mercury is and always will be a legend. Rest in Peace you lovely man!, such a sweet guy.
@@neilburns8869 how big were queen in the uk during the late 80s?? Had they reached their “legendary status” by that time?? I’ve heard a few people say that they were considered “uncool”. Is that true??
I'm from the village of Knebworth and we used to go up there afterwards and clean up, so much a bag of rubbish. Used to find all sorts of weird stuff! Very happy memories.
Grew up 4 miles from the park, spent half my childhood at the skatepark that used to be there. Was best man at a wedding in the church by Knebworth house. Still live in the area. Used to take my kids there all the time to play at the fort when they were little, now they’re older, and understand who Freddie was, I took them to an outdoor theatre performance there a few weeks ago they couldn’t believe I was there that night with my dad, 16 years old, and saw Freddie’s last performance. Didn’t know the significance then of course. Still cycle past there regularly, and every time, I still think of Queen 1986. I miss Freddie. The all time Guv’nor at doing a show, 120,000 people in the palm of his hand. Really was a kind of magic.
I saw Queen at Wembley in '86. Up at the front luckily. Best concert I ever went to and Freddie was the best front man ever...and Ive seen Jagger, Paul Stanley, Plant, the lot. Freddie for me was in a differentr league.
Knebworth was my 4th Queen concert! Saw them 3 times at Glasgow's Apollo Theatre in '75, '77 and '79. I never dreamt Knebworth would be Freddie's last Queen concert. I know how lucky I am...………………….
Me and my husband were teenagers. I knew him 37years. Now we are married and we talk about all the great times we had. Rock 🎸 and roll kept us together 37 years and counting.
Remember it like yesterday. Sat in traffic in an old R reg 1976 Opel manta that was overheating for 3 hours trying to get there !! We had the heater on full blast to try stop the car from boiling over lol.. Once inside we got the hash out of my girlfriends bra and rolled a joint.. It was a beautiful and magical day and a great time in British history. No i phones, no face book. Just love, music and sunshine. God take me back to 86. RIP Freddie, you sir were indeed the greatest.
I was at this concert. I saw them at Maine Road Manchester a few weeks earlier ..and on the spur of the moment, a few days before this concert i decided to drive down on the day (4 hour journey so an early start). I bought tickets just outside at the gate and walked straight to as close to front as I could.. which was very close to the stage! and after the concert walked back to the car (which was miles away!) ..and drove home. Got home at 4am.. absolutely knackered but what memories! i'm still reminiscing and enjoying the fact that i went to see the last live concert of this amazing band. Thank you Queen for giving me so many wonderful memories.
@@Mcbevhills I was at Knebworth and I think everyone was aware that we were seeing something very special. No one could have guessed though that it would be Freddies last concert with Queen.
I drove 400 miles overnight from Scotland in my clapped out Ford Capri, stood all day for the Gig, then attempted to drive back up the road After it.........yeah right. 6 hours to get out the car park. Fell asleep numerous times in the queue. Hit the first service station on the M1 and zonked out in the car till morning. All the time watching our budget of around the zero mark. We were literally praying we wouldn't run out of petrol on the way up the road. You know what though, i'd to it again tomorrow? It was the best time of my life. As said previously Big Country were superb. Quo not so much. I felt sorry for Belouis Some, he got utterly pelted with missiles when he done 'Target Practice'. Queen----well, what can you say, it was Queen. Out of this world, as usual. I had followed them all over the UK since the 70's. A little side story i was right at the front next to Deacy, and never knew till a couple of years ago, about him throwing his bass at the Amps. Poor guy was going through a rough time. Bless you Deacy.
@@mariegrimes8085 Yes of course it was. I was highlighting the tieredness levels. I couldn't hold my eyes open, i was literally falling into a deep sleep every 10 minutes. My passengers had to keep shaking me when the cars in front moved a little. :-)
I saw Queen in 1986 in Slane Ireland and I’m still here I adore Freddie love Queen what a Great time to be around in the 80s and to be able to see Queen love and miss you Freddie xx
Freddie was the lead singer of the group but he really didn’t believe he was the leader of the band. I watched him wait for his band mate as they walked out to perform (at the end when they clowning around after that voice warm up bit)6:46-7:06. Love they were so close and kept his secret to the end. Can’t find or buy that kind of loyalty today. RIP Freddie.
Freddie never walked out into the public without someone he trusted at his side. He wasn't being 'polite' so much as it was he was anxious and wanted Rog - someone he trusted - close by.
Was fortunate enough to have seen Queen 3 times at the iconic Montreal Forum back in the 70's and early 80's. Never disappointed. Never be another band like it!
I was there, unforgettable. Went with my future wife (love you Nicola), we've now been married 30 years. Queen were magnificent, also it sticks in my memory that Big Country also performed a fantastic set and the audience loved them. Status Quo were only average on that day, not sure why, but Big Country outperformed them. What a day, I will never forget it, 140,000 fans on a boiling hot summer day, what could be better?
5:54 Freddie almost sounds childlike with the "how long we got?" question. Love the look of anticipation. He never stopped his excitement for performing. What a pro!
I saw them in 82. They were a hybrid to say the least. No governor on the engine They played - music, not specified to one category. Just a really great band..
What a day it was. He had every single one of us in the palm of his hand. And then spent 3 hours in the car park afterwards, trying to get out. But no-one cared; we all had our stereos playing full blast. One of the most memorable days of my life. RIP Freddie Mercury, the greatest entertainer ever.
@@trimley i can imagine how frustrating it was then for you and others affected. I was only a teenager and far from the maddening crowds. I wished I was born or lived in London for a while. I am jealous of you and others who got to see Queen in concert. It was worth the frustration.
Это такая тяжелая работа...Freddie,но ты ни разу не жаловался - все хотели шоу.. и ты это делал...дарил свой собственный мир,чтобы каждый мог задуматься и подумать о своем...ты БЕСКОНЕЧЕН...поэтому Show MUST!!! Go On...!!! ❤🙏🇷🇺
Roger Taylor said that by the end of this tour he could tell that Freddie was exhausted and no longer had it in him - you can’t even tell watching this, the man was outstanding.
@World Press .... Yes !!! I just realized it now that you mentioned. Could it be due to religious restrictions or prohibitions ? He was a Zoroastrian. I'm just wondering.
Emotional watching this footage knowing this was Queen’s last show. Yes, their last show -because without Freddie & John it just isn’t Queen. Everyone who got to see them live at anytime through ‘86 was so lucky! Freddie looks really good here! Love seeing him & Roger together. If only Freddie was still with us for these past 30+ years! Greatest vocalist and frontman of all time! Legend!!
I was fortunate enough to go to this. Not really my band at the time but the memories are now very precious. I travelled back to Knebworth park yesterday to feel the musical spirits once again. This time the field was empty and there was no music but the aura still lingers. The Knebworth fayre really was such a special occasion.
Queen, and Freddie Mercury took the world by storm. No matter wherever they went on tour, in the UK, or abroad, they had audiences, in the palm of the hands. Queen delivered show stopping performances, with the late, great Freddie Mercury's million dollar voice. Although, Freddie Mercury is no longer with us, and John Deacon has since retired, Brian May, and Roger Taylor are still performing as Queen today, in 2018, Queen's legacy will live on, forever. RIP Freddie, Mr and Mrs Bulsara, and Freddie's partner, Jim Hutton. 😥❤
Michael Asquith Oh yes! I was a poor girl from a poor family (born in 1948) and being from that family meant that the only noise that I ever heard that was called music was that of a small town evangelical church choir. It’s no wonder that I developed my interest in music only after I escaped the family in which I was abused (of which I seldom speak). Then came jazz, blues, Elvis, women’s music and at last British Rock-from the Beatles to Bowie & Queen & many more. Yes it’s a tale of deprivation but my rebellious spirit saved me.I am ever so grateful!
Me and the wife at Knebworth compliments of Harrier Films who were filming “Full Metal Jacket” at Bassingbourn for which I was the Liaison Officer.. My Mrs was lucky enough to see them in Hanover in 1984 for “The Works” tour when we lived in Germany. At Knebworth we didn’t bother to go in to see Quo or a Big Country. What a fantastic memory for us. Freddy and Queen were magnificent. RIP Freddy. You will always be in my heart.
Amazing footage! i am just astounded at the size of the audience!! Reading the comments of people who were at this concert and just trying to imagine how incredible it was - I can't of course!! When people say do you have any regrets - it will be that i never go to see Freddie perform in concert. I know it won't be the same but i really am considering going to a Queen + Adam Lambert concert.......i just want the experience of being in an audience full of Queen fans shouting and singing along to their songs!!
Consider the queen extravaganza with Marc martel. He's like Freddy son if he would be had one. But if course Roger Taylor and Brian May won't be there and you should def see them.
My heart skips a beat ANYTIME I see Freddie Mercury/QUEEN in all their glory!!!! What I wouldn't give to have seen them live!!!! And if im being honest it makes me incredibly sad to have missed out on something so wonderful! 😭😭 I think I was only about 5/6 when Freddie left us to start singing for the heavens instead. One day Freddie Mercury! ONE DAY!!!
What a day, five people in a mini metro we never got out the car park until 6am the next morning and no body on bloody mobiles, time machine please, RIP Fred
remember the end of the show? no fireworks, and it was dark, dark..only a few street lights, and everbody singing , 'you never walk alone and still remember the ambulance passing......and the trowing bottles....
I think the bottles were heading for Belouis Some poor guy why was he supporting Queen? no Health and Safety the car park was bottle necked until the next morning, but I would still go back....
O dear .. I guessed everryone in this video commented the same. Stuck for hours till the next morning. However, I bet it was worth every second of your lifetime.
Reading all of these brilliant posts about everyone who got to see this concert, and watching Queen live elsewhere. I just want to say one thing, You're all a bunch of lucky lucky Bastards
Fantastic day, we had to dump the car on side of the A1, traffic was at a standstill for 4 hours we sat there stationary, nah, dumped the car and walked, weren't gonna miss the gig. great night 🙌
My dad went to this concert! lucky! someone was stabbed in the car park to six hours to get out of said car park. He said doing radio ga ga with all those people was just incredible!
Freddie mercury was a Cole Porter he loved women but he was gay and that doesn't make him bad he was an excellent wonderful performer and I miss him terribly
My husband was lucky enough to be there he said it was amazing he had to climb a tree and stayed there along time before he could get out of the car park
I was an average Queen fan, I liked all their hits like everyone else... we cranked "We Will Rock You" before H.S. football games! However, after seeing the movie... I would love to rewind time to see them live! Goes to show quality PR sells. A good story always sells!
Me and my mate hitchhiked from Bridgend to Knebworth for that gig. Best gig I’ve ever seen Quo,Big Country and some tosser that got bottled off stage !! 🤣 Great days 👍
Remember sitting outside the gates drinking our beer while Belouis Some were on. It was a red hot day and there was no way we were leaving the beer. One of the best concerts I have ever been to. Nobody knew at the time it would be the last live show ever for Queen with Freddie at the helm. Fantastic memories. One of the music businesses greatest tragedies to loose such a talented man like Freddie
