I'm so addicted to your channel! Being black and not really having a history ( I literally can only trace to my great grandfather on my father's side and that's it). I'm literally crying how beautiful this is.
Your show should really be on History channel... it is so educational, well researched and unique. I mean... these days the History channel is all about big foot and other variations of reality tv that has NOTHING to do with history. SIGHS. It's like MTV in comparison... no music just drama drama drama. I really appreciate this channel and all the hard work/ creativity put into each historical figure.
You are too kind! That would be an absolute dream. And I agree, I used to be obsessed with the history channel and don’t like the direction it’s taken at all!
I’m Angolan and I appreciate this video. It’s well researched and you pretty much covered all I know about the Queen. Not much is known about the history of Angola before the Portuguese arrived but I’m glad when a little light is shine on it. I was very impressed by your portrait, it felt so believable and she definitely looked Angolan so great job. 👍
i’ve actually learned a lot of really detailed things in my class. i’m taking ap world and my teacher likes to include details from all points of views she can. she’s a great teacher.
I wonder whether you might consider doing more on historical figures from Africa. I'm not African myself, but it troubles me that the history of Africa and Africans has been shamelessly airbrushed by European propaganda for 500 years (the story of Great Zimbabwe is a notable example.) The problem, I know, is how to get to the reality behind the propaganda, but it would be interesting to try.
I'm 100% behind this. Africa is the home of all humanity, the third largest landmass at this time, and has the most varied human genetic profile of any continent. It's full of intelligent, inventive peoples, great artists, and amazing history. However, in the West, we know almost nothing about it, save the horrors we see on the news, most of which are in some way due to European and Arab colonialism. I want to learn more. (Just a hint, but most of this also applies to South America.)
I think the recreation is exceptional. As an artist, I do see the different angles in the face, but your recreation is spot on. Wonderful job! She is such a beautiful woman!
I just realized that this amazing woman plays a huge part of my history! My ancestor came from the Tutsie tribe in Niger which is still considered a western African country. She and her sister was shipped from the west coast to the West Indies. I'm realizing that my slave heritage would have started much farther back and would have been harder to trace if she had not accomplished what she did. My story would have been totally different! That is crazy when you think about it. Thank you so much for sharing!
As mans' inhumanity to man continues today, it is very refreshing to hear about someone who cared for her country. Thank you for the education of this historical figure. Beautifully done.
@@sapphireblue222 it was a means to an end. If she didn't the war would still continue because the Portuguese would've still captured slaves regardless
Another amazing strong woman from history. This is so interesting. If I were a history teacher I would have these videos in my class so the students could see what these historical figures may have looked like. Just so amazing.
I got chills when you revealed this recreation. I swear, especially when the historical references are sparse, you must channel the essence of your subjects with some kind of artistic tuned-into-the-cosmos extrasensory vision. I think you must have the same talent that forensic anthropologists do, who can recreate faces from skulls going partly by science but also largely by an intuitive 'feel' and inner sense of what that person must have looked like. Thanks for this wonderful portrait of Nzinga, and the compelling history that goes with it. I love how you recap complex biographies in a concise yet captivating manner. ❤
A gorgeous warrior (that smile is like the sun!), quite the combination. It's tragic what her brother did to her and how not being able to have more children could have affected her since she was a mother once.
WOW!! Great!! I have watched all your videos and I have learned a lot… I’m sooooo glad to see African recreations as well…. This one I didn’t know existed… Thank You so much ! Definitely a fan 🌺🌸💐🌷🌹🌼💐
I love the history background you provide with each portrait. Once again you capture rich skin tones beautifully, especially the subtle natural highlights within deeper complexions! I look forward to more!
You have an amazing talent, I am glad to have stumbled onto you. I'm a lover of history, but you've made me a fan of historically bringing life to art.
Your recreation of her is absolutely stunning! And knowing more about her personality and strength, just makes her that much more beautiful! Thank you for bringing us these lesser known personalities, that are so important to humankind. And not just the amazing portraits you make of them, it's the history and coverage you do - is so enjoyable. Thank you.
I love your portrait of her .. 🌹💕💕💕💕 thank u so much for making her look like a queen.. and the fighter she was .. but she had eloquence and was very persuasive to get her where she needed to be .. women empowerment she didn’t sit around and let everything bad happen to her n her people takes a lot of courage.. to rule for the greater good of humanity.. so I appreciate your story on her because I never heard of this beautiful ball of light..
I love how you captured her beauty. Thank you for your careful work and explanation. Please consider doing more people from Africa and Caribbean descent.
The ending reveals on all of the videos from this artist, always makes me cry. Seeing these historical people come to life, remarkably touches my heart.
Besides enlightening me on our history and culture, my favorite part would have to be the photo interpretation from then to now. You do excellent work. Thank you for sharing!
in 2022..."50 Cent, Starz Producing African Warrior Queen Drama Series" and one features Queen Nzinga. This should be a good one. Thank you for this series of hidden and never taught in mainstream schools/universities. This was well researched. Thank you for your praxis.
Thank you so much for this! This is so fascinating! I could cry! I appreciate you trying to re-create this image with very little to work with! Thank you, thank you thank you!
10:34 10:45 Omg Queen Nzinga smile is so beautiful, she is such an Angolan goddess. She is so pretty in the reconstruction photo. i admire her beauty and her gorgeous smile. she is too pretty and her smile is so remarkable and unforgettable 😍😍
I was thrilled to see that you had chosen Nzinga! In my work to research my and my husband's family trees, I've traced his fathers side back to her! His last name is Mozingo.
You White ‘Murican need to stop ✋🏾 Stop it! You people have NOTHING to do nor claims form her. Nzinga is a very COMMON name in that region! Especially among the BaKongo! It has ALREADY been debunked, y’all are NOT related to any Mbundu but to a Kongolese ancestor. Her ONLY son died in INFANCY and she was STERILIZED! Where do this urban legend comes from?? Nobody here in Angola will dare spout such nonsense
utterly breathtaking video not only are you an incredible artist so gifted in the style of Vermeer who captured the spiritual divinity of women in everyday tasks but a skilled narrator and historian I truly am in awe and a devoted fan please keep up the excellent work which I believe is your calling as a priest the spread of Christianity often propagated and developed by women who were the prodigies of their day is both inspiring and amazing God bless you, Father Charles Anderson
There aren't many portraits of her, but I would love to see your recreation of Malintzin, the indigenous translator and lover of Hernan Cortez during the spanish conquest of Mexico.
It will be also great if this got also going to history channel The younger generation can really use this kind of knowledge that they can make better choices
Thank you for the video and reconstruction! I looked at that Father Carvazzi's sketch: you're right, it's got a few strange features; BTW, Your reconstruction is really nice, I hope you can do more on historical figures from Africa. BTW I liked your video so much I went searching for the 2022 documentary. Thanks again - looking forward to more :)
You did an amazing job . Most of my childhood friends were angolan and she just looks angolan on your portrait its impressive. I am really happy looking at this portrait
What a Vibrantly Beautiful recreation! And the historical account was amazing too. I really appreciate all of the hard work, and research you did for the presentation of this brave and strong willed leader. Thank you for sharing!
Fantastic! I see you managed to include the famous human chair story. As I reflected on your comment that Nzinga's brother was cruel, it occurred to me that that could be said about the majority of people who survived to become king or queen. Accession to the throne was a dangerous business. For example, Solomon had to have his brother executed for deviously trying to weaken his claim to the throne through rearguard action.1 Kings 2:13-25. Cleopatra had Arsonoe killed. Shaka, Malik Ambar, Etc. Etc.But your recreation was spectacular. Keep up the good work.
Beautiful interpretation, congratulations, and thanks to accurated tell a little bit more of african history. keep on the great work you doing. following!
That's what I was seeing. As soon as you pointed out the different parts of the face being from different angles it made more sense. Strong Woman and lived till 82 in that time. Born being hung and died in her sleep, I bet she had no fear/anxiety her entire life, maybe a lot of concern, but no crippling and frightening waves of despair and hopelessness.
