Yes Queen in this song referenced Martin Luther King's work as they believed the message of one world, one union and one vision was so needed. Their Innuendo song speaks of pretty much the same .. Barriers such as Religion, race and sexual preferences have throughout history been the cause of much of the problems in the world...In fact Freddie experienced a lot of this prejudice himself due to where he was born and his own sexual preferences. Queen tried to address these issues through some of their songs and hoped that music would be the catalyst to Unite !!

Innuendo is a deep song, starts and ends like a marths to war. Another good meaningful song, that couldn't be more 80s if it trued is 'hammer to fall' live that. But I remember doing air-raid shelter drills in my jniors school in the early 80s. We was "lucky" to house the fall out center for the community under my school. From alarm start we had 3 mins to get in and close the doors. God knows how anyone by the kids in the school would ever make it in in time. That was growing up in the 70s and 80s uk. Until the Hoff saved us all.

That would be nice but the real reason the song was written was in response to Queen playing “sun city” in South Africa during apartheid. Many big named acts had decided not to play the venue and the musicians union made Sun City a no go . But the money that was offered was incredible and they played. The union fined them huge amounts and it was kind of a black eye for Queen. That being said my first record I brought was “fat bottom girls “ and have always been a fan. The greatest part of a Queen concert was the last song was always God Save The Queen.
@steveakhurst7845
@steveakhurst7845 5 лет назад
@@elizasmith4545 It might have been written as a response to that but as In the 2011 BBC documentary, Queen: Days of Our Lives, Taylor stated his lyrics were "sort of half nicked off Martin Luther King's famous speech

Queen was dealing with bad news reporters whom literally stated that he deserved his fate. The band fought back...in their fight they fought for ALL. For those without a voice Queen gave them a voice. So, put yourself in that time and imagine how many radio stations refused to play their music. This is why I suggest on so many of these reactions to listen to Its a Kinda Magic Album. Yes most of the songs are used on the movie Highlander. There was so much more meaning in the lyrics. Thank you for listening to Queen. I loved Queen when Freddie was alive and love them today.

As a white man, I'm not qualified to judge if it is better today than in 1985. Yes, I studied history, but I was in the Army for most of my young life, so I'm honestly very ignorant on the subject as we worked together, every race, color or creed and if we didn't, we died together. Today, everyone has a cell phone and there is more media coverage, so I can now see what was censored from me in my young life, but I'm only one voice. All I can do is teach my children what is right and wrong and hope they do the right thing. Thanks for posting your opinions and keep spreading the love.

Roger Taylor wrote the original song, he talks about it in an interview (it's on youtube) and he says it was about MLK, Ghandi, people like that and MLK's "dream speech" was a big part of it. Freddie told him the song was too hard to sing the way he had it written and Roger let him change it around. I sucked at pinball too btw.

You're right. They did have a lot of fun in the studio. Of course they also were dead serious about the quality of their work & often bickered, but they always worked it out. They were like brothers who fought, blew off steam, made up & kept going...lucky for us. You'd love "Dragon Attack." Please do the Montreal '81 live version. You mentioned before liking the drums in their music. Watch how (after Freddie has fun with the audience for a couple minutes) Roger plays a shifting intro to the song. However you really need to hear the studio version too. It's so sharp & just perfect, and it's impossible to hold still listening to it (I dare ya!)! A comparison reaction would be great!

Yeah, they had so much fun that they ended the song with one of the made up lines Freddie was singing while recording: "Fried chicken", LOL! Some people say it was Jim's idea (Freddie's boyfriend) to keep it that way, some people say it was someone else's. Whatever the case, it was hilarious. Hey there, great Queen reaction videos, just finished going through them, starting from your first Bohemian Rhapsody. It's funny how you say in some of the reactions how Queen has evolved and I see how you've actually evovled in doing your Queen reactions, from where you said about them wearing blouses in Bohemian Rhapsody to now researching each song before hand to educate yourself on the song and being so impressed by how many songs you already knew of but having no idea they were all Queen songs. Very cool!!! Also in the movie that record executive not thinking Bohemian Rhapsody would work, that actor was played by Mike Myers who starred in Wayne's world and brought Bohemian Rhapsody its new found fame, and where everyone says "hey I've heard this song before when doing those reaction videos!! Lol! 😊

About your thoughts on this song never reaching you...it's a beautiful thing that you & some other reaction channels are bringing people together over music. Cultural differences, race, gender, age, all drop by the wayside when we're listening & discussing together. Also, it's never too late to spread the word. If you have friends & family who only listen to hip-hop, rap, any limitation, let them know that there's some good classic rock out there that's worth listening to. And a lot of those artists were socially conscious & reflected it in their music along with their music that was just plain fun to rock out to. It's funny. As a suburban white kid I grew up listening to the great Motown artists, rhythm & blues, funk (everybody from James Brown to The Temptations), right along with the great British classic rock bands. We loved all kinds of music. And I hate to see younger people of any race or cultural background think they only like one or two kinds of music. I know some white kids who have only been interested in hip-hop, which is fine, but they're finally starting to branch out. Reaction channels are a positive trend for all of us, and I think yours is one of the best.

This song's lyrics are amazing; anything that supports unification is always one step above others for me. I mean, I love songs about everything else, of course....but I will always uphold, and strive to constantly echo, any voice or work that speaks out against division of people due to difference of race, religion, social "status", gender, sexuality, etc. It's such an important message to get across to everyone, and can never be repeated enough. This song also echos some sentiments of John Lennon's "Imagine", even though that song was so controversial and misunderstood. I just love songs that deliver a real message shrouded in good music. It tends to infiltrate the conscience on a different level....especially if you're a music lover. Thank you for reacting to this!

have you been able to react to their Live Aid performance in 1985. It's definitely considered one of the best live shows ever in rock music. I remember being 16 years old and sitting in recording the entire concert. From when it started in England and it ended in Philadelphia. But believe it or not there's only a couple of parts of it that I really remember. Definitely Queen! My first 45 small vinyl was Another One Bites the Dust when I was 12 I think. Would love see you react to the Live Aid concert. It stopped everyone and their tracks and the Radio Gaga part is amazing with the crowd reaction. Just starting to binge watch your videos and just subscribe to your Channel. And enjoying what you doing. A couple of great songs I would love to see you react to are by Chris Stapleton. It should have been heard by so many more people. It should have been played in areas that normally would not play rock music, but it wasn't. They didn't care about the message or the support that was being given they were not going to play "those peoples music especially if it wasn't jazz, R&B, Motown etc. Such a shame.

Queen did have fun in the studio,they had fights to but that was necessary for the creative proces.It was a way for them to get the songs perfect.And in every family you have fights,and that was Queen they were family.They were often ahead of their times,that is why they are still immensely popular.

Try a react video to the final song he ever sang. Mother Love. Some of his finest vocals however could not finish it off unfortunately.

What's up Matt, I hope you don't mind the nickname. Glad you love Queen. Watch two videos, Queen the making of "One Vision, and live at Wembley 1986, they open with "One Vision" you will love it. I was there in 1986,stationed at Lakenheath Air Force Base. The best group ever assembled is Queen, just wait til you hear more of their songs. Fat bottom girls, leave on time, and take my breath away, studio versions. Get at me and be a good husband and father.👍. Don't forget to pray!🙏

I meant this Country was so divided the riots and even though it's .worse now. They had big time vision. They wrote about things to come. I am so glad they made music that still goes on.

There were terrible riots in the US after the killings of RFK & MLK in 1966-67. This may have been considered too controversial / incendiary at the time. I love it.

Hey maaaan I love your reactions as always. You never disappoint. By the way, if you want some off stage, off camera docus, Queen: Rock the World might be a good suggestion. Not avail on YT tho. Dailymotion is where I watched it.

Another good one to review would be “Hammer to Fall” or “Cool Cat” which is there more “funky” song. ☺️
