One thing I love about Queen performances is that each member has their own thing going on, their own style and personality. They don't try to be copies. I love, for example, how you can have Freddie, doing whatever crazy thing he might be doing at the moment and next to him, John Deacon killing it at the bass completely chilled and unperturbed, like "whatever, dude".

Sure Freddie has grit in his voice in this song, but he could do every genre of music -- and did -- up to and including opera. Plenty to discovery here.

Grit in his vocals, You are spot on. In somebody to love from this same concert (Montreal 1981) he combines that grit with gospel vocals. Roger taylor on drums has insane backing vocals and Brian May on guitar has his standard jaw dropping guitar solos. If you thought that was iconic wait til you see this performance. Also guaranteed views as I know a lot of people just go round searching for people who react to it as it’s jaw dropping and the sound of the live music is insane.

Give "Somebody to Love" from this concert, Montreal 1981. Some of his best live vocals. Freddie had the best stage presence, bar none. Then you may want to check out their Live Aid set. Freddie's voice wasn't up to par, but there's a reason it's considered one of the best live performances of all times. Digging the channel. Keep it up!!!!
@queenremix1353
@queenremix1353 4 года назад
He's voice was at par at Live Aid, let me explain why, in Bohemian Rhaposdy he gets 2 studio phrasings in the original key, not exactly the same as the studio per say, but that's because of the difference in tone and quality in his later years. Also in Radio Gaga he sings the song completely in the original key, the same can be said about hammer to fall he nails all the ab4 and bb4s. In We will Rock You he flatout sings the first 2 a4 notes like he did in the studio, in the we are the champions is even a bigger surprise, he hits a c5 and then sings the whole bb4 choruses which he rarely attempted.
@bbbfst
@bbbfst 4 года назад
Wow. Freddie's voice was totally on-point at Live Aid. Absolutely killer. And the Montreal concert was fine vocally -- the crowd sucked -- but songs like "Save Me," "Dragon Attack," "Sheer Heart Attack," etc., were all superior at The Bowl.
@ZENOBlAmusic

Queen's "Don't Stop Me Now" didn't even crack the Top 40 pop singles chart in the U.S. back in 1979, so a lot of us (I was a kid back then) weren't really familiar with the song at all until some 30 years later in TV commercials. And then again in the 2018 film "Bohemian Rhapsody." It has become one of my favorites by Queen. For a song with a totally different vibe (1950s rockabilly), I recommend the band's 1980 No. 1 hit "Crazy Little Thing Called Love."

Queen consisted of: Freddie Mercury - Lead singer/pianist Brian May - Lead guitar/backup singer Roger Taylor - Drummer / backup singer John Deacon - Bass guitar (and the composer of this song, Another One Bites The Dust). Freddie could sing ANYTHING -- rock, ballads, opera, metal, jazz, funk, rhythm & blues, gospel, pop, folk, and anything else. Queen is not just a rock group but it is a collaboration between 4 extremely bright and talented individual men. It is the only rock group in which each and every member of the group actually composed hit singles. Their style of music on their albums varied because each member had different tastes and styles and all was reflected in their music. There was no leader in Queen. They were a total democratic group, where the band in total made all decisions regarding what songs they recorded, what songs were included on their albums, what song they would release as the single plus all decisions regarding their tours were made democratically. Yes, they were known to squabble a lot over decisions but they stuck together until Freddie's passing in 1991). To get a crash course in Queen, listen to & watch the following: 1. Bohemian Rhapsody ( The Official Video) Widely considered to be one of the greatest songs of all time is a combination of a ballad, an opera, & classic rock. 2. Someone to Love (Live performance at Montreal 1981) - Freddie's performance is an amazing mixture of rock, gospel, and soul. 3. White Queen - (Live performance from a BBC special called "A Night at the Oden, Hammersmith, 1975). 4. Stone Cold Crazy - Queen created the genre of Raunch Metal with this song. 5. Killer Queen - the breakthrough song that turned Queen into worldwide rock stars 6. Under Pressure - The collaboration between Queen and David Bowie about how the pressures on our lives make us nearly crumble. 7. Queen's Live Aid performance. The 20+ minute performance of Queen at the Live Aid (duel venue at both Wembley London & JFK Stadium, Philadelphia) concert in 1985. Considered to be the greatest liver performance of a rock band ever.

All of Queen's live performances were wonderful. Freddie Mercury was a great piano player, and wrote a lot of Queen's songs including Bohemian Rhapsody - he sang all of the parts of the song including the back-up singing track. Others in the band wrote songs too - Another One Bites The Dust - John Deacon, We Will Rock You - Brian May, etc.. To see Freddie's and Queen's stage presence their live concert videos are the best. Brian May's guitar ability (on a homemade guitar he built when he was 16 years old from a fireplace mantel, mother-of-pearl button, an old oak table, a bike saddlebag holder, a plastic knitting needle tip, and motorbike valve springs) is legendary. You should look at We Will Rock You live: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-FtyZSWJkFXU.html maybe even better: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-E8_ig4SPAak.html

This is what you call Legends. Freddie Mercury is one and only. He is college educated with a degree in Graphic Design and used that skill to create Queen's famous logo and also came up with the name Queen and is hands down the greatest front man of all time. He is joined on stage by Roger Taylor, who had a degree in biology and is one of the best drummers in the world and is a very talented singer, and Brian May, or should I say, Dr. Brian May, who is not only one of the best guitarists in the world but has a PhD in Astrophysics. He was just voted by Total Guitar Magazine, The greatest Rock Guitarist of all time nudging out Hendrix and Clapton. Then there is John Deacon, an absolutely incredible base player who's iconic base lines are legendary as in this song you just reacted to and songs like Under Pressure, We will Rock you and so many others. He has a degree in Electronics and created a special Amp, named The Deaky Amp, that made it possible for Brian to get special effects out of his guitar. Speaking of Brian's Guitar, The Red Special as he named it, He and his father built it from materials they had around the house when he was 16 and it has a sound like no other guitar in the world because it is truly one of a kind and can not be replicated. It makes many special effects you can here in so many Queen songs. These four men coming together with all their different talents and intelligent approach they had in creating music, make up one of the most original and best bands of all time. If this was your first Queen song, You really should go back and start with Bohemian Rhapsody, voted the best rock song of all time. You should make sure you watch the official video of it and you can kind of get the feel for an early Queen. This song is so amazing in so many ways.

Amazing fact about Queens' lead guitarist Brian May. He was actually working on getting his Ph.D in astrophysics when Queen was formed. Music meant so much to him so he put his doctorate on the back burner. After Freddie Mercury died, Queen disbanded. Even while still part of the group Brian and his father designed and built a new kind of guitar. Brian's IQ has been measured in the 160's. That's even beyond Big Bang Theory smart. So he was a real genius on top of being a musical genius. after Queen disbanded, Brian went back to working toward his doctorate. He finally got it in 2006 or 7. He's now Dr. Brian May Ph.D. He's also written about 6 books on the subject of astrophysics.

Great reaction! I really enjoyed your analysis! Freddie could sing without the grit as well. Queen falls under classic rock, but this song is not a classic rock song, it is actually more of a funk/ R'nB sound. Michael Jackson loved this song, he pushed Queen to release the song as a single. He took some inspiration from Queen for this type of sound with his Thriller album. This song was a massive hit, it was on the charts all throughout 1980, it is one of the biggest songs of the 80's. At first it was the black R'nB stations who picked up the song and started playing it, they thought Queen was black R'nB band from Queens, eventually it became a no.1 on all of the charts even the country charts. Another great live version, and a bit better one in my opinion is, Another One Bites The Dust live at Wembley 1986, ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HnCgN4knr0Y.html. Besides live aid which you absolutely have to react to and it’s entirety, anything from Wimberley 1986 is fabulous. Love of my life as a stand out in my mind in the audience interaction is phenomenal also the Saturday night performance of who wants to live forever is mine boggling. Keep going on this journey and you will never never regret it.

You should watch Queen’s Live Aid performance! Recognized as one of the best rock performances ever. Freddie is at the top of his game and well worth the 25 minutes

Once you've gotten a ways into Queen, you absolutely NEED to watch their set at Live Aid. But not until you've heard more of their songs.

This song is great, but to really blow your mind check out Queen's hit Bohemian Rhapsody.

He wore the shorts because the production team that were filming over the two days really pissed the band off. Especially Freddie. They kept getting in the way. By wearing the shorts it effected the continuity of the concerts.

Would love if you could react to Bjork - All is Full of Love. It is one of the finest music videos ever made, and I believe it's on permament stay at the Museum of Modern Art.

The first time I saw Queen in 1975 from the 3rd row Freddie did a striptease and ended up with less than this on. 🔥

I prefer the studio version. When you can hear the bass more and John Deacon playing the acoustic guitar. Brian May and Roger Taylor were not keen on this song. It was too funky for them. They weren’t going to release this as a single as it already done a few others but it was Michael Jackson persuaded them to do so. It became one of the biggest hits. Freddie is wearing shorts because this is the second day of the Montréal concert they had a film crew following them they got in the way. Which annoyed the band especially Freddie. He wore the shorts as the previous day he wore trousers. He did this to upset the film crew and spoil any continuity. Bite the dust is a cowboy expression.

You might enjoy reacting to AC/DC : * "ThunderStruck" * Also something of an iconic song/tune!
