This is good, the Montreal '81 version is great BUT I was in the audience at Madison Square Garden opening night of the US leg of the Game tour in September 1980 and that was freakin' awesome.
This was Freddie's favorite song, the reason? Well, it can be many things, the truth is that it is an incredible song, impossible not to love Queen after this
Excellent reaction!!! But You’re starting your way... and you’re just at the beginning of this Queen Journey...!!! There’re a lot of songs in their catalog .... which are really amazing Queen is outstanding..., a critic said once: no matter if it’s about metal, progressive rock, pop, glam rock, hard rock, rhythm 'n blues, funk and disco, country, gospel and soul, and even music-hall and ragtime....., or any music styles... Queen could create and sing anything in a Queen’s style. They created their own style, You can listen some harmonies... and you know it’s Queen singing ... Freddie at the piano with Brian’s guitar, Roger’s drums, John bass....., with the incomparable Freddie’s voice..!!!
It's a great song. Glad you did it. There are two live versions that are worth watching. - Live in Montreal. - Live at Milton Keyes. You really see how great a singer Freddie was, and his and the band's improv skills. Both are different than this version from the album. Both are terrific. Milton Keynes is raw. Montreal is close to perfection.
It's my favourite song of Queen's, the arrangement is amazing, and those backing vocals!!!!!!No doubt about it, the best band ever !!!!!! FREDDIE HAS THE VOICE OF A DIVINE MESSANGER...
Please please please! Do Somebody to Love Live in Montreal 1981. It showcases Freddie's phenomenal stage presence. That whole concert is awesome from start to finish. It's my fave concert to watch. Also, Save Me and Dragon Attack from the same concert. Please! 🥰 Edited to add... great reaction! I love watching people discover the magic that is Queen. Some songs are better than others. But the great ones are untouchable. There are so many hidden gems in their catalog. I have been a fan since I was little. I've been in love with freddie since 1984 and I was 9 when I saw him in the radio ga-ga video.he had an aura about him that drew people to him like a magnet. And Brian, Roger, and John are so talented in their own right. Yes we are a passionate bunch. Queens music gets into your soul and Freddie's voice touches me like no other ever has.
Yesss... Now that you have heard this studio version ,Please check out the 1981 live version in Montreal, believe me its mind boggling! and to imagine noooo auto tune ,just raw talent live!... there are soooo many Queen songs.. as you'll find out.. many you HAVE heard but probably didn't know it was them.. Fantastic Group !.. and welll.... Freddie Mercury, in a category of his own! in my opinion the G.O.A.T... R.I.P.. Thank You for sharing your incredible gift!!
Live at Montreal 1981, Somebody to love will take you to a whole new level. Queen used the live concerts to really let their creativity go fly. Each member of the band took the joy and skills in their performance and combined it to create pure musical magic. THE best live performance of an individual song I have ever seen........
No contender about it. :D Watch Queen do this song live and more. Even Axl Rose and Robert Plant to name but two. Have said Freddie is the best frontman of all time!!
I disagree. Montreal is AS good, in a completely different way. It’s like two different songs. The energy is much better, but on the studio version, the production values (mostly the harmonies) are phenomenal, especially through good headphones. I don’t like the Milton Keynes version as much as Montreal.
This was Freddie's pick too so you are in good company. Thing is, there are many hits, many legendary live performances, technical wizardry before it existed plus lots of smaller GEMS too. In interviews they talk about wanting to entertain, creating a theatrical spectacle...shock and awe...all the while driven by individual and collective artistry. Maybe you'll find saying this song is better than that song ultimately loses meaning when you step back and see they are showing all facets of a diamond being cut to surprise, razzle-dazzle, mystify, groove, tear your heart out or just have fun. I get the feeling they give the listener the wheel and say drive - how does it feel to you?
Love Queen. Love Zeppelin. Love Doobie Brothers. Love the Beatles. Love Cream. I could go on for a while. Zeppelin and Queen always rise to the top for me.
Freddie wrote this one. He smashes this song live, Montreal 1981 will blow your away with his vocals and the band as well. Crazy Little Thing Called Love is just a fun song, Freddie wrote it as a tribute to Elvis one day in 10 minutes while he was soaking in a bathtub. The style of that song is Rockabilly and quite honestly they killed it on Crazy Little Thing.
Live in Montreal is the best version, imo....however any Queen is great ! The drums Roger Taylor gives us on that intro....and those harmonies.....these guys= 4 geniuses with a lot of talent.🎼🎶🎹🎤🎸🔥🎵🎵😎Queen is definitely up there in the convo of GOAT. Led Zeppelin is definitely up there too. Definitely check out “ When the levee breaks “ and whatever else your subs suggest, it’s all awesome because, again, talented musicians at a level we might not ever see again. These bands did these epic songs live, no help from technology. I’ll take raw talent over technology every day, twice on Sunday.🤘❤️
This is my dad’s favorite song, he heard it for the first time on the TV back in 1976 when it came out, now I am a Queen fan because he showed me Queen when I was 10
Queen's albums A Night at The Opera and a Day At The Races were named after Marx Brothers films. There was a live bootleg around at the time called Duck Soup - also a MB film.
Great reaction! Yes, Queen are goats, they are the second best selling band of all time behind The Beatles and the 4th best selling artists of all time. Freddie mercury is most often chosen as the best vocalist of all time. Brian May is one of the best guitarist.
QUEEN ALWAY put on a great show. FREDDY WAS IN A CLASS ALL his own. Such like CARLOS SANTANA @ ERIC CLAPTON. There are alot of groups and solo artists that dont get the credit they have earned !!!
Live Aid Concert 1985, it's only 20 minutes. // Somebody to Love, Live Montreal 1981, it's different and very high energy than this one // Studio version of Bohemian Rhapsody // Killer Queen // Don't stop me now // ... welcome to the rabbit hole.
In 1971 for a short time there was the band Chase. Lost to us in plane crash. To honor them how about a review of Bill Chase Get It On live1971 If nothing else you should listen to their LP Chase loaded with great tracks. TY
Its so nice watching you discover Queen for me no bad tracks the weak one you mentioned was like an homage to Elvis fun. See live aid to see Freddie having fun.
Hey Mr. Aimless you need to check out some Bob Seger. He has some great songs a few to get you on your Journey 1.Turn the page 2 like a rock 3 Roll me away 4 Down on Main Street. Have fun with the songs and he has a lot more 😎👍🏼🇺🇸
I agree with everybody here who sait that is a really beautiful studio version. Freddie's voice is so perfect. But If you like Freddie the showman you should now react to the montreal version : more power in his voice, the intro is really different (the hungarian version has also a different intro) and the interaction with the audience is so damn good. If you really love Queen, you can't just watch their hit songs but start from their first album Queen, then Queen 2, then sheer heart attack and so on. Their hit songs are not their best songs actually. Most of Queen songs were just as good as Somebody to love, and some even better.
