I read that they had to put a lot of makeup on him to help out with how his appearance had been dragged down- also that it took **ALL** he had to get on that stage and even be able to move at all,to do this performance- he was extremely dedicated, as most already know- the real deal/legend- Rest In Peace- Mr. Freddy Mercury-❤️🙌🏻✨🌟❤️
Well, there was one 'effect', Brian was wasn't present when the three of them did the video, as Brian was in America promoting Innuendo, he was added into the video later.
@@jayden2ful just mentioning that he wasn't actually married, that's all.....i don't think THAT was too difficult to understand, either......geesh, dude, i thought maybe i was missing something and wanted to be informed correctly......lighten up !!
@@cindyshawver9986 Freddie never got married true, but he had a boyfriend at the time called Jim Hutton, to whom Freddie would introduce as his husband to his friends. Jim Hutton was present in the making of this video, and it was at him that Freddie was saying 'I still love you' to.

This is his last appearence in a video. This was his goodbye to the fans and his "I still love you" was to them. Roger Taylor, the drummer, wrote this song about his life and his kids and all that but it's really different when you know what you know now about Freddie. Your reaction made me tear up a bit aswell. Beautiful Freddie ❤❤❤ So missed.
So many of the most emotional Queen songs were written about something completely different - but knowing what Freddy was going through, and the power that he sang them - gave them a totally different vibe/mood. Full credit to him man, he was a fucking legend. Owned everything he did.
there is a documentary about Queen that includes the making of that video , and in it you can see in one scene where Freddie is getting off the stage to see how the video was working out and what had to be fixed , or done different , and in the background you see him as he is getting off the stage in obvious pain and with difficulty , but then he gets back onto the stage and finishes the video anyway , it wasnt that he didnt let on that he was in pain , it was the fact that he didnt let the pain stop him , amazing person who lived his life his own way , but the pity was that it was at the most dangerous time ever to be gay , just at that time when AIDS was rife but not known about , and just before a cure of sorts was found
This song he gives a little final farewell at the end, just nods and looks at his fans throught the camera and pretty much says good bye and that he loves them all....yeh very sick by then when this was made.
Freddie Mercury's caring goodbye to his fans. Crying is the appropriate reaction, India. Don't worry. I was crying too. Cry at this every time I hear it.
India, when I hear young women like you describe how they feel about past artists and what they went through, I feel confident and proud that America is in good hands. I do enjoy your reactions. They make my day bright. I'm a 66-year-old women living in assisted living with my cat Magdalene. She enjoys listening to your song choices and wags her tail in time to your music sometimes. Peace.
When you can see how ill he was in this video, Freddie was still the ultimate showman right to the end. How extremely heartbreaking for his bandmates who must have known this was the last time they would all perform and create together
I remember watching this vid when it first came out. My mum who was a huge Freddie fan was in the other room, I told her to come in an look at Freddie, she started to cry. I’d never seen my mum cry before, very sad and shocked we were
The video for this song was recorded in May 1991, and considering Freddie died several months later on the 24th November 1991, you can see how advance his AIDS condition was in this video. Progressively, his eyesight was starting to fade a little, making it difficult for him to walk publicly, which made him more housebound towards the end of his life, although he was not blind. The outfit he wore in the video was custom made, and all the cats that were on his top were his cats, as Freddie was a cat lover. He wrote a song about his favourite cat around this time, he never refused having his cats company when he was in bed, and back when he was on tour, he would insist whoever was at his house, put his cats on the telephone when he rang, so he could have his 'cat calls' with his pets. When Freddie said the last line 'I still love you', he was looking at his boyfriend Jim Hutton, who was on the set at the time. Out of all the relationships, Jim's was the one that Freddie regarded as the relationship he had wanted for many years, with Jim being touted as 'Freddie's husband' wherever they went. Jim unfortunately contracted HIV from Freddie, but thankfully he didn't develop the AIDS that Freddie got. Jim actually wrote a book about him and Freddie called 'Me and Mercury', which is very insightful.
@@sir_sack indeed he did. If having HIV and losing Freddie was bad enough, Jim, Peter Freestone, and another person who I can't remember were kicked out of Garden Lodge six months after Freddie died. Mary Austin had ownership of the house, and she wanted them all out, possibly due to her upset at Freddie's loss. It was a sad state of affairs for Freddie's entourage after his passing.
Freddie was an absolute warrior. A dying man in immense pain but he soldiered on like a consummate professional and was still able to sing like a man full of life.
I cried when this was released in '91 when I was 19. No shame in crying - that's what Freddie taught me. I've believed that ever since. I met my wife at university not long after this song was released. We connected (partly) because of it. He was just a beautiful poet, a brilliant story-teller, a genius musician - and a dazzling force of nature.
He died shortly after recording this song so he was already thin and frail. But his voice was beautiful, really strong and perfect. He came into the studio and begged Brian to just write music for him to sing. He wanted to go out strong and in the only way he knew how. MUSIC! RIP Freddie, we will love you forever.
Make sure that you remember all the good times you have with family and friends. I loved Queen and there music. My wife passed in 2008 and everyday that goes by I remember her. You have to make memories as kids as teenagers and as as adults. Make the most of it people
That was such a beautiful response to an incredible end-of-life phase for Freddie Mercury. It was lovely to share that with you India... it really was.
Freddie was near the end. May be my all time Favorite Queen song! If you don't cry during this, you're not human. Please check out NO ONE BUT YOU! Freddie Mercury R.I.P. And India, a Genuine display of Sympathy, Sadness and Emotion is Never Ugly!
Having seen Freddie at the band's peak, and seeing him still putting his heart into this song, is so heartbreaking. It's a great song on its own, but so moving with Freddie singing it. Freddie was the ultimate performer to the very end!
Yes, your reaction is mine every time I see this. I remember seeing it in 1991 as part of a Queen documentary before Freddie's death and knowing that moment that the rumors were true that he was dying. A few months later he was gone. I miss him. We need him.
The video was filmed on May 30, 1991. It was Freddie Mercury's last filmed performance, as he died on November 24 of that year. Unreleased backstage footage of the shooting of the video appeared in the Days of our Lives documentary, showing Mercury's deteriorating physical condition (extremely skinny and pale) largely covered up by makeup and colorful attire. Brian May speculated in the documentary that Freddie was "saying his goodbye" in that video, knowing that he would likely not be healthy enough to perform anymore. Freddie was a class act may he RIP.
The day Freddie died I watched the BBC documentary about Freddie that night and this video was an exclusive at the very end of the program. My heart broke and 29 long years later it still hasn't healed x
this song is in my top 5 favorites but it gets me everytime i can't help but cry. Freddie was so strong and never complained he just got on with it and wrote and recorded music til he couldn't anymore. Freddie was very courageous right till the very end. I'm very grateful for music he left behind. Listening to Queen's music and Freddie's solo music is where i go to be with Freddie he always puts a smile on my face and makes me happy I love him very much.
When Chadwick Boseman died, working till’ the end, private with his dignity intact-It reminded me of Freddie. He died two years younger than Freddie, and like Freddie at the time that should have been the end of the middle not the end of the end of his life and career. I think of his last video to his fans, so gaunt, like out of a concentration camp-But still he loved his fans and wished to speak to them. I think of that and I think of Freddie. Goodbye Chadwick, goodbye Freddie. Only the good die young.
Yess India, we still cry when the realness hits too.... you'll be singing along and smiling and then it hits... our Freddie was stolen away, our gift was taken and he had so much more to give the world and it isn't fair or right.... and it sneaks up and the tears fall. You need a little beauty song try on an oldie that will make you swoon - Joan Armatrading Love and Affection
I still remember the interview, where they said he was so frail when they were about to film this, that they were afraid that he wouldn't be able to complete it. He said, "I'll fucking do it, Darling" downed a shot of vodka and went out to do it in one take. The day he died, my mom and I held each other and just sobbed. My parents got me into them, as well as my mom's youngest sister, and we were all devastated by his passing.
I think you've got that story mixed up with Brian's worry, that Freddie wouldn't be able to sing the song 'The Show Must Go On'. And as you say, Freddie down a shot of vodka, and said 'I'll fucking do it darling', which he sang that powerful song in one take.
@@sannaolsson9106 are you sure ? Because if you remember the video for the Show Must Go On, didn't feature anything other than clips from various videos and concerts. This was the last actual video he worked on, before his death.
@@darkangel_1978 'Even as he was dying, Mercury threw himself into his majestic, operatic singing. Queen's Brian May recalls that Mercury could hardly walk when the band recorded "The Show Must Go On" in 1990. "I said, 'Fred, I don't know if this is going to be possible to sing,' " May says. "And he went, 'I'll fucking do it, darling' - vodka down - and went in and killed it, completely lacerated that vocal."' www.rollingstone.com/music/music-lists/100-greatest-singers-of-all-time-147019/freddie-mercury-5-225069/
this music video makes me so sad bc in a behind the scenes clip he was self conscious of using his hands too much but it was because he could barely walk anymore and he loved to move when performing. AAHHH yeah, i really miss him even though i didn't even live in his lifetime. Fly high darling
I cry every single time I watch this desperately sad video. Whoever gave this the thumbs-down has no appreciation for music and absolutely no empathy. 😓😓😓
Thank you for remembering such a great artist. I wish I was born back when Queen was in its best moment, I was born after he was gone. But I got into this band because of my Mom. I’ve been looking into Queen so much and after that, I see nowadays all those people who call themselves “artists” should be embarrassed, Freddie Mercury was a real artist, he had everything to call himself the best and he never did. I was completely wrong when I thought CardiB or a Demi Lovato, just to mention few, were artists. I feel ashamed, I was so wrong. I deeply cried while this video of “These are the days of our lives” was playing, he looked deteriorated because the progress of that illness but he was doing his best, I have no words to express how I feel.
This is always so hard for me to get through, although I always do, because it was important for Freddie to say good-bye to all his friends, family, & fans, & it touches my heart to know he needed to get through this, even as much pain he was in, to let us know how much he cared about us........the band also had a hard time getting through this, as apparently they had several takes to do, because they needed to get themselves together......Beautiful song, from a Beautiful Man, is who missed so very much!!!
Ciao beautifull girl....dont cry!!!....freddi recordered this video for us.!!....so smile....smile like he does.... because.....he still love we....!! Rip freddie....!! Im 42 years old italian freddi fan....
I think he sang his last note literally 4 months before he died singing (mother love) battled on till he couldn’t no more and gave us Music right till the end.
His last goodbye to the world, he knew he was dying and you can actually see he vas very sick by that time. He could barely stand but he made it, he made the video anyway. RIP angel, we miss you. The world is a darker place since you've gone... we still love you.♥️
Do not ever hate showing your emotions/tears. I love how real you are!! The last " I still love you" makes me cry every time i watch this. It was his way to say goodbye for he knew the end was very near. Freddie touched so many lives. He will be forever missed but never ever forgotten!! RIP Freddie!!
Freddie was in a lot of pain at this point, but he still managed to give it his all and create a beautiful song and video. Rest in rock and roll, Freddie!

My favourite Queen's song. Roger Taylor, the drummer wrote it about his family & his life's point of view. The whispered "I still love you" is very special to Queen fans
He was so sick but he demanded to do it! Did the video in one day!! His voice still as perfect as ever! (Watch the behind the scenes video... he would rest and keep going) That last scene where he says I love you... I cry! Best artists ever!!!! Freddie lived his life for fun!!!! Go ahead and ugly cry... I always do.... I’ll do it with you!!!! As Carrie Underwood sings you can’t “Cry Pretty”!
