Huge respect to Freddie When the concert tour ended he was in so much pain and so exhausted he knew something was wrong and told the band he was done touring But the audience or band didnt know during the shows he pushed through not to let the fans down The following year April he found out he had AIDS
Wow nice! And I can relate, I took my daughter to see The Oak Ridge Boys many years ago when she was little. She fell asleep before intermission! I woke her up and told her it was over and we left. Missed the second half but not the dinner we shared on the way home. Great memories!
This was LOVELY, Thank You!! Watching this performance is quite fitting because this date - November 24 - commemorates the anniversary of Freddie's leaving us to go musician's Heaven. And watching this particular performance is emotional in itself, because it was one of the very last times Freddie would perform live with Queen... They only did two more concerts after this one, before Fred informed his band mates that he was retiring from touring live. What's amazing to realize about Freddie's vocal strength, is the fact that this last song was at the end of a concert that was actually OVER two hours... aaaand, this was the second of TWO consecutive night shows back-to-back (both equally as long)!!🤯 The reason they did two consecutive shows was because the tickets sold out so FAST, they agreed to add the second night... and then, those tickets sold out so FAST, they agreed to add one more London venue at the end of the tour, the following month at Knebworth Park. Wembley Stadium's capacity was 78,000 (I believe) and Knebworth was 125,000 (at least that many; it's estimated there may have been a lot more attending that concert since it was an open park venue). At any rate, the combined attendance for Queen's (what would turn out to be) last-ever London gigs, was at least 281,000!
Thanks, great information! And thanks for the date reminder, the significance hadn’t hit me until I read your post. I have more Queen and Freddie coming up shortly! Thanks again and glad you enjoyed it! 🤘🤘🤘
Freddie said WE in the song’s title refers to everyone who is singing it. Brian called the song “unifying and positive”. It has become an anthem for victories at sporting events all over the world. 🌎 Queen ends their concerts with this song followed by God Save The Queen. Saw Queen + Adam a couple weeks ago, and they still continue that Queen tradition!!
32 years today we lost a legend.💔 but lives on in the hearts of old and new fans forever. Please react to ( no one but you )) a tribute from the band in memory of Freddie Mercury. Thank you
Thank you for the wonderful reaction... I wonder how Freddie felt knowing that this concert would have been one of his last working with the band and audience after all those years. and keeping it to himself! It had to be one of the hardest things for him to do! R.I.P on the anniversary of his passing, one of the best if not the best front men and singers ever!
Never saw Queen live again after 23rd March 1974 near the start of their existence when Seven Seas of Rhye was in the charts. They were already superb.
NOTE: I need to make a slight correction to something I said in the video. The picture of Queen that I referenced was not taken from their The Works album, but from their Greatest Hits album.
