Freddie did every show at the top of his effort. He was an incredible vocalist but human. The occasional flaw is the consequence of his passionate commitment to the vocals and it adds emotion and humanity.

Queen are famous for all their live shows i.e. Live Aid 1985 said to be the best live rock performance ever. i like the video for this song also as it showcases Brian. Brian sang on his tribute song to Freddie called Only the Good Die Young. Very moving and sung beautifully. Full of emotion.

Mesmerizing. Another ballad from this collection from the film, The Highlander, is ONE YEAR OF LOVE. Mesmerizing too - even with only a lyric video, Freddie's vocals are a powerhouse. This song featured only John and Freddie...always a thread between them in efforts where they team up. Many Queen fans are fans of their lesser known gems...and there are some beauties out there!

I love this song. It was written for the movie The Highlander. In the studio video version of this song Brian and Freddie both sing. They have a full orchestra and a boys choir in that version. Very powerful.

I was 18 years old the first time I saw Queen in 1975 and fell in love, saw them several more times. Still in love 50 years later.

Very jealous! I managed to see part of Queen play with Adam Lambert a few years ago, but would have loved to see the full band live

All the songs on the album featured in the movie "Highlander" one of the lines in the film (about immortality) is "Hey, it's a kind of Magic"

Hello, K&O - I agree that when I first heard "it's a kind of magic" - I thought kind of "meh" -- but I changed my mind when I saw it live... so with Queen, sometimes live makes the magic - This is powerful not only for Freddie's vocals, but for Brian - who wrote the song as part of the soundtrack for the movie "Highlander" - thanks for your reaction!

Your feeling that "a kind of magic" album is different, is probably due to the fact that this is its inception is not a normal Queen studio album, and least not the usual type of "studio". These tracks were created bespoke as a commercial engagement with a film studio for the movie "Highlander". The album is a compilation of the film tracks. The film is brilliant, well worth watching if you haven't seen it before. Though notable for having the Scottish Highlander lead character being played by a French man, alongside side an Egyptian character being played by the very Scottish Sean Connery!

The live version is astonishing. I think that the Budapest version has the best vocals because he hits the top note actually going through 5 octaves which is almost impossible.

Most of the songs on k of M were for the soundtrack Highlander While Freddie was alive it was only him and John who had no 1s 75 Freddie Bo Rap uk 91 again uk 92 no 2 US no US cash 79 US Freddie crazy little thing called Love 80 John another one bites the dust US They only considered it a no 1 if it was uk or US If it was also no 1 or did well in other territories they would say that as also... Innuendo was no 1 uk 91 but that was written by Freddie and Roger 91 Roger days of our lives didnt chart Re released Dec 91 after Freddie death with Bo Rap no 1 but not independantly Brian 2000 rock you with five live

In my opinion, Queen is best live with a few exceptions, like Bohemian Rhapsody and other songs too complicated to do live. All of the 80s catalogue were better live. The band were so good live by that time they couldn't put a foot wrong and in the 80s the pop/dance tunes would become rock tunes live. I Want To Break Free from Wembley '86 is a way better song than the studio one. The Budapest '86 concert Freddie's voice was better. It was earlier in the summer. Great reaction.
