I wouldn’t say Brian wrote it for Freddie, unless you mean for Freddie to sing. I caught an interview of his a couple of years ago where he said as a songwriter, you are giving your songs to someone to sing. And when you have Freddie Mercury sing your songs, you’re pretty damn lucky (paraphrase, obviously lol)

This is one of the very few Queen songs that is better in the studio version rather than live, in my humble opinion. He is brilliant here as well, but doesn't reach for some of the high notes doing it live ,
