The producers were so cool to do this. Hank Moody one of the best characters ever and this cover introduced me to Alice In Chains.. I can't believe this was ten years ago
Just listened to the original then went to Opeth’s version and now this one, and honestly I like all of them. One thing that sticks out to me in general is that it is just such a good SONG. AIC version is always my favorite, but I really like the fact that it seems to sound awesome regardless of who is playing it. Also WTFBBQ is Mulder doing?!
This just makes me more in love with her. My son's middle name is Layne, and ironically I have a Misfits Crimson Ghost tattoo and the other cover I heard from them was Last Caress.

You know, I followed this link from the AIC version. I have loved AIC since their first album and I honestly thought I'd hate this. I still prefer the AIC version BUT this is actually pretty interesting. I kind of like how it sounds with her voice. Not nearly as awesome as the original but still good in its own way. RIP Lanye and Mike!
For those who might think the singer is sub-par here, you simply don't understand how vocally talented Staley was, or how much of his soul he bled into his music. NOBODY is EVER going to be able to match that, and it's unreasonable to expect them to. She did a good job... I prefer Opeth's cover of this song, but this wasn't too bad.
SexedUpAtheist | I absolutely 100% agree. He was, and is the best of all time. I tear up everytime I think about his death, and how/why he died/let himself die. I have a hole in my heart, where it would've been full, could I have seem him and Chains play live...just once. There's a video on my page of my cousin (who has an awesome voice) playing "Nutshell"; It's kinda bad quality, and we actually didn't know that his sister was filming us. But I still liked it enough to post it. Much love for you, and anyone else who knows and recognizes how truly amazing Layne was.
I'd agree with you on Opeth having the better cover. Props to Cantrell for writing such a fucking amazing piece of music that's remained timeless and relevant all these years.
Even if I haven't ever watched this show, and this cover (which is pretty good tho) doesn't have the row and low emotion the original has that I love so much, I still liked it a lot, and found the story, for what I could see, very sad. I feel really sad for the guy, like, he is going through really rough times.
Stephanie Hunt on the Bass. Her sister Phoebe Hunt is one of the best fiddle players around. They are going to give Stephanie an acting chance in the upcoming 'How to live with your parents' tv series in April. I see her getting some movie parts also. Major hot also.
Ofc they can't. But I still think it's very cool that these relatively young women cover AIC because it obviously shows they like em. So thats yay for everyone I guess.
that's so funny when people say that. Like Nirvana smells like teen spirit. No one ever gets that right. It's like Metallica Enter Sandman don't even try to cover it or stairway to heaven because people are always going to say it's not as good as the original. There are always songs that stick out more than others that will never sound quite right coming from another band. This is so iconic I would probably say it's one of those songs however this is an amazing cover and I think people just need to realize it's a cover and not supposed to sound like the original to its exact form. As long as its good and it has passion
@billcheese1 im sure layne and mike would think this is awesome. Of course it cant compare with the original but its definitely decent and really cool to see that their music lives on.
Hopefully the band will show up next season. I know the end of the season 4, she leaves to be with the band. I heard next season is somewhat a few years later. I hope Becca will still be in next seasons cast.
Here's the thing with bands with great singers like AIC and Soudgarden:You can find a couple of dudes,learn the song,play it,but when you find you find someone to sing it ,IT JUST DOESN'T SOUND GOOD.
Decent cover. I've heard soem decent covers. One excellent cover. But that's because Layne had such a great vocal range and just that power in his voice that's very hard to come near.
