I was just talking to my Wife and lil' brother about Joshua. Absolutely one of the GREATS!!! one talented mofo! !!! and under rated as heck!!! thank God for players like Josh Homme.
Dig this, there is an awesome interview with him, sweating in a garage somewhere in L.A. and talking about his (very) early times in guitar playing. About style, tech and sound. Both guys make it a cool but hot conversation about music - no studio and no big cameras needed. He and his band is one of my idols in playing the guitar. They have such an outstanding sound.
I love how at the beginning they're like "Meh, let's do Ocean, somebody will probably screw up but whatever", and then they do a performance with almost 4 million views that I listened on repeat for 3 consecutive days when I first discovered it and still get goosebumps on absolutely every part of it
Andy, I've watched this maybe 100 X's just to take in the magnificence of Jon Theodore's performance on "apple" --- only recently to have my mind vaporized ten-fold when i realized how much more IMPRESSIVE it is that he did this with an ACOUSTIC apple !
QOTSA is just one of the last great band in rock history. Among the greatest. I would love your input on our last video from our first album. It got the attention of one of my heroes Joe Bouchard (ex bass player founding members of BÖC) who is following us on Soundcloud but returns from people who likes same music is always the best. If you have just 3 minutes to listen and a bit more to comment, that would mean the world to me. Keep rockin' ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-i1fVRW6z3n4.html and Happy new year
Really speaks to how immensely talented John is to be the backup for one of the greatest bands of all time. Really bummed he’s basically written out of Villains
If he was capable of playing a stand-up acoustic bass, I'm sure he would have. Now THAT would be cool to see/hear. Thing is, without frets he might have a difficult time.
BoboButYouCanCallMeTom COOL! Sweet Mother of Christ. Thank you. I had not seen an acoustic bass before googling right now, 'cause of your comment! So, why didn't he use one, would you think? Then we'd have had four functioning musicians (and a drummer LOL)
It cannot be underestimated how hard it must be to play this song live, never mind unplugged and acoustic. And somehow Josh manages to make it sound this good. Outrageous band.
How has it taken me 9 years to see this? Incredible performance of an underrated song. And the cutaways to a room full of professional musicians and critic just sitting there...priceless.
0:13 I love it when Troy tries to be funny, but no one's laughing at his jokes and you can see in his face this expression of "c'mon guys, i AM funny!". Hilarious:D
@@claudiomartella243 ?. I would actually think you're kind of creepy and cringy if that's the way your brain thinks that you think that guy was being creepy I'm kind of messing with you but why would you say that man peace love you
I think it is very un-cool when someone is interrupting a masterpiece performance. This isn't Britney Spears, you know. When I listen to that kind of live music and someone is fucking clapping hands I want to slap that person in the face. Or maybe punch.. .dunno. I want to listen to the musicians not some shit noise. So all together, in my opinion that was perfect audience how apparently appreciate proper music. Catkisser - cool nick. :-)
I've seriously been hunting it down on the Internet. A German girl I go to school with bought a similar jacket when she was in Philly. I was so freakin' jealous.
If I was in this audience, I'd be watching it back likely on this day and many others with either sadness because I didn't show enough appreciation in the crowd- sitting there mesmerized in silence.. Or a fantastical session of rock-out-ism. This is what the most important musicians have to offer, and I just hope the overall fame and love they get is payment enough- because i've never paid for music in my life and it hurts that I've never been able to "afford" to.
All I can say is I'm thankful Josh is here since David Bowie is gone.We can keep looking forward to new and interesting music from this man for years to come, hopefully.BTW , loved Like Clockwork!!!!!!
Awesome. Ive wanted to see them in concert for at least ten years. With their new tour... Im stuck in a military base on an island thats on the other side of the world. Nice.
awww .. poor you, thank god for you tube then ! I feel your pain !!! lucky me ..their headlining Reading festival. I will stick it to them from you !!!
It's always been hard for me to pick favorites, especially when it comes to music..but QOTSA is absolutely one of them I've realized over the years. Something about Josh's songwriting style, his vocals etc has always resonated with me big time. Legendary talent he was gifted with.
I'm so happy to have JUST NOW found this. Long time qotsa fan, but this literally gives me goosebumps. I'm so happy to be apart of this life where we live with soo many legends. Qotsa being one.
Letra I sat by the ocean And drank a potion Baby, to erase you Face down in the boulevard Yet I couldn't face you There ain’t no use in crying It doesn't change anything So baby, what good does it do? Your friends, they all sympathize Maybe I don’t need them to Imagined I'd be your one and only Instead I'm the lonely one You, me and a lie Silence is closer We’re passing ships in the night There’s nowhere to run away Said: Boy, if you want love You’ll have to go and find it with someone new Do you know who you really are? Are you sure it’s really you? Lies are a funny thing They slip through your fingertips Because they never happened to you Time wounds all the heals As we fade out of view Imagined I'd be your one and only Instead I'm the lonely one You, me and a lie Silence is closer We’re passing ships in the night You, me and a lie Silence is closer We’re passing ships in the night Into the light, left with nowhere to hide Closer and closer We’re crashing ships in the night
Impossible to not feel happy each time I hear this song. Cannot believe it's been nearly seven years since this record came out, and I was a big fat ass driving around Chicago en route to Second City to attend rehearsals for this show I was cast in. I'm skinnier now, live in L.A. How things change. But man I still love this song.
I think Josh and Dave Grohl have a lot in common, they should make an accoustic album together with the voltures. This is fucking epic. Merry christmas to you all out there!
Josh es uno de los genios de nuestra época....tenemos suerte de disfrutarlo!!! a él y a mucha gente que orbita a su alrededor pero tiene una gravedad propia (talento)....que gran regalo es ese...brutal amigos!!!
Such a great performance. Funny when Josh cut Troy down at the very start before he got carried away on a live recording coke induced rant 😄 a true front man
