Letterman has the best sound crew in television...Period. Everyone always sounds so good on the show, the mix is always perfect. That's why I'm so glad they started the "Live on Letterman" series. Perfect showcase for real music by real musicians.
There is literally no rock band on this level at the moment. They are one of the last true, working rock bands around and they fucking killed it. Goddamn.
Troy's mic is fantastic! He can move around the whole room but you can hear the rattle all the time. +1 for Shure, +1 for the sound engineer. Really!!!
Been a fan since 2005.. Right after Lullabies came out. I can say like Led Zeppelin - I love every single QOTSA album. Each is perfect in its own right. I drove seven hours to go see them and listened to every QOTSA CD along with Eagles of Death Metal on the way. Every one of them has a very special place in my heart. They are no doubt the inheritors of Zeppelin and The Beatles. And something else entirely.
Quite the contrary as everyone says, the reason that i love this album is that actually sounds a lot like old QOTSA to me. But not repeating themselves.
Troy kind of endearingly seems to be extra aware of Dean in verse 2 and you can see him look to make sure he isn’t blocking Dean while he’s playing the main verse riff
QOTSA is such a solid band, i've been listening to them since 2003 and I still enjoy it as much as i did back then! They put so much feeling into their songs and the groove is fantastic!, thank you qotsa! peace!
Great live performance...I'm seriously in love with this album. I have been a QOTSA fan since...well...Kyuss. LOL. Seriously though, I am very impressed with the new record...bravo guys.
I know he regrets things that he started, but he agrees it was getting to a burn out situation as well with him and Josh. Not only Queens, but Mondo, Desert Sessions, Masters of Reality, Mark's Band, etc. It was for the best. Now he gets it, and now he can actually hang out with the guys.
I'm almost 20 years late to the party where this band is concerned. The Music press I was into (NME every week without fail) was dying on its arse and internet was for kids and nonces at that time, or so I thought. Sure I had heard their mega hit and liked it, but I was missguided into thinking they were an indulgent supergroup, what with Dave Grohl on drums.My mistake, god is this band amazing or what? Missed their gig in my hometown last year but I am making up for lost time and lost opportunities. Starting from their first LP (vinyl of course) and now up to this one I can honestly say there is not a bad song of theirs out there. An awesome level of quality songwriting, riffs and let's face it they look cool AF, which is of equal import if your are gonna do Rock-'n'-roll properly. QOTSA till I die.
You know, if you listened to each album Josh has made in chronological order, you'd see this thing we call "progression." Zep I doesn't sound like Presence, so why would ...Like Clockwork sound like Welcome to Sky Valley? Josh is one of the few well known musicians out there willing to take a risk and do something different, and I applaud him and his band for it. As for this song, try Rickshaw off of Desert Sessions 6 and you might hear a correlation between the two.
An amazing band - all of them. BUT, how can one man have so much music in him. The voice, the unique songs, the more unique guitar licks.......... how does he do this?
