I saw Queensryche 4 times in their prime. My wife and I met the original band at a show in Cincinnati. Just us and them. My wife's connections helped. I remember the guitarists being the friendliest of the band. Geoff seemed to not want to be there.
@@left-wingprophet4775 Geoff is too much into himself and very reserved...but as long as he signed and took a photo...all that matters. I love them for the band..,Chris so sweet and Eddie and Scott just quiet but love the fans
There is no Queensryche without Geoff Tate, Chris Degarmo, Scott Rockenfield, Michael Wilton and Eddie Jackson. They were are and always will be Queensryche. Anything else falls short.
The first time that I heard them I was hooked Geoff Tate voice and Chris DeGarmo on the guitar and the rest of the guy wow. I love this song roads to Madness..
I saw them at the Civic Center here in Baltimore and do you are right there's no planes right without the original guy and when Chris DeGarmo left in 98 Chris got tired of the politics but he was a great still great guitars and all the great songs that all them guys were in the 80s wow
without even a close second and we have some really great seconds but theyre far far behind this theyre great great singers who in the studio can do it all , Geoff can bring it at will and with so much more feeling it is almost unreal !
@@sarahhurst701 Saw them in 91'. There really aren't enough words. I haven't ever seen a better show. It's one of my fondest memories. They sounded every bit as good live as they did on the albums.
Empire with $uicidal was great but I also saw Mindcrime and they opened for Metallica which was crazy great.I must say though seeing Promised Land and with them on a tiny stage in a bar ON stage was The coolest concept I ever saw and that song was Amazing.
Geoff sung the most difficult vocals!!! No singer could do what he did for decades and thousands of shows! He is truly one of the most influential singers of his time! He is a true vocal God!!
Interesting fact if you didn't know. He was taught by the same vocal coach as the Wilson sisters from Heart. I don't know who it is (lazy), but that dude should be in some sort of Hall of Fame.
@@pangeo8183 Fuck yeah Joel! Knew it couldn't be JUST 2 of the most influential bands from the area. I should not be surprised. Bet he taught plenty of others, as well. Thanks bro, really appreciate learning this from you.
@@pangeo8183 Damn, thought I replied but evidently I did not. Many thanks for the ID, Mr David Kyle has all of my respect and praise. Dude has a serious CV. Really appreciate you cluing me in.
This song is fire. He was a beast, a force of nature on stage. Such a beautiful voice. I will NEVER forget this voice. So much memories.... my favorite band for all time
Youth of today, as well as the new version of QR & even Geoff with his current touring band, this mother fucking perfect lightening in a botlle will not ever, ever, ever ,ever ever occur quite like this again!!!! Sad in some ways but at least I got to experience all of this live back in the day!! I was about 16 or 17 when the QR EP first came out & this band blew me away, followed up by thr MASTERPIECE CALLED THE WARNING! Thanks for the memories, thanks for all the recordings done years back & thanks for You Tube (You Tube is the candy store that guys my age did not have during our youth!!!). Also remember, Geoff just got done performing most of Operation Mindcrime before this killer performance of Roads to Madness. How did he still have his voice left? But he did & it was at its best. Such a hard song to sing even with lots of rest
Omg, it does not get any better, does it? Never heard such a sublime voice, so powerful and majestic it is the definition of perfection for me, hands down! Geoff is truly the vocal God! 🤘🤘🤘
Clearly this is incredible. I love Todd but THIS is Queensryche. This is the band that I grew up with. This is fucking incredible. This is genius. Chris Degarmo and Geoff Tate together making memories for me. I'll never grow tired
Who even sings like this 😁😁 GT your voice is insane 😁😁🤘🤘 I can’t believe anyone would dislike this video 😳 I agree…. you are an utter beast with your vocals.
Remember seeing Queensryche on tv in the 80s. We where all drunk at a party. Since that day i always loved queensryche. Seeing Jeff running on stage performing vocal masterpiece. I always get very sentimental listening to them. Makes me cry. Tears running down my chin because of their impact in my life.
The most Deep and Powerful lyrics I ever heard.. Always been my favorite Queensryche Song for many reasons. Struggling through health issues and getting older has Definitely put me on the Roads to Madness. So glad I was a teenager back in these days and now see the true meaning of this song. Seeing Light At The End Of Sight Reminds Me I've Passed Away...
Without any doubts, geoff was the master of a pinacle that most singer's chasing his range, just could not catch I know I tried. Truly gifted and hard vocal work ethic.
No offense to the other 3 original members...but Queensrÿche is/was DeGarmo and Tate. I miss the original line-up SOOO much! There will never be a more perfect group of musicians...than 1982 - 1997 Queensrÿche! 🤘❤️🔥🤘
In their prime, Queensryche was the best of the hard rock bands and Geoff Tate was the absolute pinnacle of rock vocalists. They blew me away the first time I ever saw them live in a small club in Queens, NY called L'AMours East. That was the early 1980's....Best show I've ever seen!
I saw this tour in Greensboro, NC in 1991. Great show. I'm 61 years old now and I can't tell you how fast 33 years has flown by. Wish we could all do it over again. Great shows and bands back then and 15 dollar concert tickets lol.
I Saw Queensryche Open For Ozzy In 1986. They Are Excellent In Concert. Queensryche- "Rage For Order." Ozzy- "Ultimate Sin". It Was A Great Concert. Hara Arena. Dayton, Ohio.
Epic song, Once in lifetime talent. In early era of Hair bands/ light metal; these guys were Notches above. Had to see live to drive it thru, better than studio. As stated, Magical progressive Metal group. Voice & tightness
@rick39guitarist Fates is great... but if QR is Heroin... Fates is like that stuff they give you at clinics. And this is coming from a Fates Warning fan... nothing like QR. peace
I misread your comment. I am 54 and got it when it came out, as well. Bought the EP in '83 I think. There are few bands I appreciate more than the 'ryche. You can count them on one hand.
I am about to be 51. I agree. I bought it that well and first saw them on Rage For Order tour open for AC/DC at Alpine Valley. Amazing. Their wardrobe was housed in Seattle at the EMP Museum. Loved that band, up until Geoff blew a gasket.
This version sounds fucking amazing!!! The maestro in full cry!!! These guys were so ahead of anyone else in terms of their compositions and musicality......it’s almost unearthly!!! Special gratitude to the person involved in XindruStudios for the superb audio which I believe is from the op: livecrime dvd though this performance is from the building empires tour I think...circa 1991. Thank you!!!
It was the Empire tour. I was lucky enough to go to Operation Live Crime, Building Empires, Promised Land and 2 other live shows with the original line up. Best shows that I’ve ever been to ❤️🤘🏻❤️
One of the top 5 concerts in my lifetime. It was the Empire Tour, but they performed the entire Mindcrime album in it's entirety. Geoff is amazing to this day, but back in the day he was a fcking God! Still a God. I also saw them on the Rage for Order tour. One of the best live bands EVER!
Most of this is memory now I've gone too far to turn back now I'm not quite what I thought I was but Then again I'm maybe more The blood-words promised, I've spoken Releasing the names from the circle Maybe I can leave here now and, o Transcend the boundaries For now I'm standing here I'm awaiting this grand transition The future is but past forgotten On the road to madness Times measure rusts as it crawls I see its face in the looking glass - stop This screaming laughter hides, the pain of its reality Black, the door was locked I opened And now I've paid that price ten-fold over Knowledge - was it worth such torment, oh To see the far side of shadow And still I'm standing here I'm awaiting this grand transition I'm a fool in search of wisdom And I'm on the road to madness Yes, I'm on the road to madness I'm awaiting endlessly Pounding rhythms echo me Won't you take me somewhere far beyond the void And still I'm standing here I'm awaiting this grand transition Maybe one day, oh I'll meet you, and we'll Walk the roads to madness Yes, we're on the road to madness Oh, I think they've come to take me I hear the voice, but there's no-one to see I can't scream, too late it's time Stay on the course to pass You'll never find the answer To a place where darkened angels Seemed lost and never found Scream to see the light of Forming figures fast behind you Lay the past in the wind to spin And your fate will sail beyond the open plains Sail with angels onward Live or die for the chosen one said Saber sights cast a spell behind you And they lock in all around Free the scene insider Never looking back to find why Ride a course till the end of time And you'll stand atop the gate Laying waste in a path recited Fighting force won't avenge the guided black wing Oh, electric might poses fright inside me Seeing light at the end of sight reminds me I've passed away
for me QR forever will be my no.3 band . I like them with Tod , he is better singer than Geoff now and chris now he is not anymore guitar player : / ...
Hard to pick a favorite song by these bad asses but this ranks up there! Geoff was killing it as always! Band sounds killer too! Their sound man must be the best on the planet!
It's actually easy for me, the first tune they ever wrote together - Lady Wore Black. To be so young and write an epic about such a group is chilling and beyond amazing. I always search for covers but they are so rare, I think I've seen one. Tells you a lot about how talented Geoff was at that time, no one dare tries because they'll probably fail and embarrass themselves.
I was so fortunate to see this awesome line up in WV during the Empire Tour. They did many songs from several albums, including this one. The greatest thing about the concert was that they did Operation Mindcrime in its entirety. The best concert of my life!
His vocals r outstanding no one iv ever heard can touch him yes there are greats like Steve Perry freddy M from queen Layne stately Alice In Chains but Tate is by far the best iv ever heard to this day in 2021 he’s a legend never to be out done by anyone they try to replace him to me they sound like a cover band now with the new line up new singer it’s not queensryche to me
For years one band held the number one spot with me and I swore NO other band would EVER take that spot..........Until NOW! Geoff Tate's voice, his style, his range, the songs! OMG! I purchased 5 cds in a 2 week timeframe and I just can't get enough of his voice!!! HE Is THE MOST AMAZING VOCALIST I Have EVER HEARD! He OWNS the throne as far as I'm concerned!
@@marionevamercier2446 same here, as soon as I heard this voice I bought their first 4-5 albums at once... Ever since Geoff has been my number one!! And I am a huge fan of Iron Maiden and Judas Priest... But this voice is not from this world!!!!...
I was metal, hard rock & classic rock from 70’s-2000’s. Priest , Iron Maiden & Queensryche plus Metallica in Prime ; 4 top Live bands untouched in performance. Yes the influence of Sabbath, Zepp, and the Bigs were also favorites. I have a lot. QR , I was lucky to see 2 times in same week in 88’-89. As good as Metallica & was fire both. This band is 1 one of a lifetime type , like my others above , so Progressive and unique
Geoff...what happened to you? He was an amazing talent. And Chris and Michael were INCREDIBLE! It was great growing up with this band in Seattle. Legends live on.
Great blast from the past. I saw this tour 5 times including a 3 night stint at the Long Beach Arena. What a great tour and great performance. I've been a fan since the E.P. Seen them over 60 times. Geoff sang the best on this tour and this song shows it. Too bad his voice isn't as great anymore as it was. Would love the see this quintet get back for one last tour and put their past behind them and kick ass like the old days.
Only a few at this level ever...Plant, Ozzy, Ian Gillian, Halford, RJDio, Geddy, and Dickinson...with Tate right there in the middle without question! Live Masters beyond anything else I ever saw personally! Not dismissing so many amazing Vocalists as the list could go on and on....But these were the Badasses of all time for me!
I remember buying this on cassette and going maaaan this is something new!!! I was doing landscaping and odds and ends to scrounge up cash and had a Walkman and I burned this tape out! What an album.
One of the greatest metal songs of all time, period. This live performance of it was epic. Queenryche was this... Epic. The group that is now named queenryche is an empty shell.
Two big vocals I remember is Geoff and Bruce Dickinson of iron maiden. I prefer Geoff vocals just a preference but many great vocalists in the day. There were some whose choices of glamming out cost them respect for actually being great vocalists and musicians. Kip winger has great vocals but chose the wrong genre right out of the gate. Bad lands had a good vocalist but the songs were ok and he died way too early. I saw queensrhyche a couple of times and they never disappointed me. Extremely tight band and vocals usually on point.
STILL one of the best songs ever! I can’t remember the guy’s name who sat behind me in class in the 10th grade but I will always be grateful to him for handing me his Rage For Order cassette tape and telling me to listen to it. I’ve been a QR fan since.
