One of the best frontman ever. Geoff never misses a note. His intensity is undeniable! Seen them four times now. The original lineup is how it was Everytime I saw them. Wish oh how I wish it was still the same. Miss Chris, Scott. Awesome memories will never be forgotten!
I don't care what anyone thinks or says about Geoff Tate he's the most amazing vocalist ever can't nobody ever fade him I can't get enough of listening to him his voice makes me so emotional and I get goose bumps everytime hands down Geoff u r the best and I listen to u every morning b4 work and every night b4 bed u truly touch me thank u so much!!!
Just look at the intensity and how he’s singing. It’s like he’s singing it for the first time. You can truly tell that he has her amazing passion for what he’s doing.👍
Their percussion always sounds *so* on point: great drumming is at the core of that of course, but it sounds so crisp in all of their live recordings. Agreed there Axl, some credit for that has to go to their sound crew!
Yeah, damn, for a recording of a live gig of 2001 uploaded, that sound was damn near perfect. Drums, guitars, everything. I think I would have pushed Geoff up a touch because it felt like he was being drowned out in parts, but this is way above the standard we've come to expect.
For a 20 year old recording using 20 year old technology? My buddy just saw them play at a casino in Connecticut and the tickets were free for everyone. I just paid $4800 so me and my family at four to go see Taylor Swift. I want to kill myself now.
KISW has been playing an awesome new tune called Won't Cry Now. Sounds exactly like Geoff Tate singing but I can't find any record of him singing a song called that. Anyone heard it or was I having another Mindcrime flashback.
@@RobinBCzar Todd is pretty good, but Geoff has the better overall voice, and much better stage presence. Its alot easier to copy someones act than create one, Butt Todd is a nice fill in.
Couldn't agree more. Had the honor of meeting his dad, and my aunt and I had a drink with him. His dad was a real estate agent at the time, we were friends and he told me his son was going to make it big, he was that good. He told me his son was opera trained. Anyway, it came true! He made it big. God bless him and his dad who believed in him.
It truly is. I never ever get tired of hearing it. I wish they would play it on the radio more often, or even sometimes major radio stations suck that’s why they’re all going out of business.
Geoff will always be the fucking ruler of these tunes- it’s in his timbre, his rhythmic delivery. All due respect to Todd, who is an incredible singer -
OMG.....Geoff's voice...the extended note at the end of Eyes of a Stranger...I>N>C>R>E>D>I>B>L>E>..it actually brought tears to my eyes to hear him sing that...
just glorious! love Geoff at 5:57 after holding the long note just turning around and walking off. He's like "Yeah my work is done here" what a hell of a show those guys put on back then!
When they finished this song during Operation Livecrime, the Seattle Seahawks Blue Thunder Drum Corps marched onto stage and pounded out a 3 minute outro along with the band that was about the most-rocking moment I've ever heard at a live show.
I saw them for the 1st time back in 1986 at the Gulf Coast Collusium in Biloxi MS . They were 2nd openers on the RATT tour with "Rage for Order" album, and they were so good!!! The next time I saw them was in a Rock Club in Raleigh NC in 1988 called " The Switch " , were they played " Operation Mindcrime " album...I even helped Scott Rockingfield setup, mic, and sound chk. his welded chains cage kit !!! I feel sorry for today's youths, they will never experience the pure perfection of Queensryche in concert!!!
Between the mezmorizing lyrics, Geoff's incredible talent and the band's deeply-developed skills-- Queensryche is the complete package. Amazingly captivating to this very day... Always a fan!
All of those guys are very talented musicians, guitarists Chris Degarmo and Michael Wilton worked great together in unison, and of course Geof Tate was one of the iconic vocalists from the 1980s.
When I saw them open up Metallica ajfa at the brendenburn arena in New Jersey operation mindcrime album and they opened up with queen of the reich what a voice what range that gave me chills I will never forget that one of the greatest voices ever in Rock and no one can take that away from him
@@billyreynolds4749 I think Tate, Dio, and Kevin DuBrow are all on even ground for contenders, but there's no doubt that Dio is the greatest voice in heavy metal
Many Ryche fans only have these absolutely incredible performances from the past to hold on to in the present. Always pulling for them to bring back some of the magic of the past but coming to the realization that it will never happen. A band diminished in all senses unable to hold on to what they had.
See other 80's era vocalists with severely diminished chops, then see Mr. Tate as powerful as ever! Absolutely the best lead vocalist of all-time if judged on pure singing talent.
I've been singing in rock bands since about 1985 as well, and even though I'm not even in the same league as people like Geoff Tate and the like, (though I used to try!), I'm 44 now. I used to sing "The Lady Wore Black" with no problem hitting those notes, and several songs by Priest, Maiden and such. High screams and all. Age just catches up with you. I can't hit those notes anymore. They're just gone. It's terribly sad, but it just happens.Still, Geoff Tate, you're one of my biggest heroes!
Scott is a beast man !!! I mean just look at him at the very end , each and every single one of those strikes is a living breathing part of him , it is the only way I can describe it. It is so incredible to watch Every single shot is purposeful Nothing lazy the very end of the song though says it all to me Very Peart-esque if there is such a word
Agreed. Look back at their 90's tours videos and he is just as great. One of the fastest metal drummers that no one talks about. You were spot on with the Peart-esqe label
Yeah, you just sound up Scott and that performance perfectly. I could not have done it better myself he absolutely killed it and so that the rest of the band.
This show "Live Evolution", although it was after Chris left, is one of the greatest recorded live shows, the sound is amazing, the performances are fantastic. I urge anyone who has not seen the full show on dvd to check it out, it has great interviews and bonus on it too!
Now that's power, balance, and control...5:40--6:00...wow. I saw Queensryche in Chicago on the "Empire" tour, and as an encore, they played O/M from start to finish !!! They are every bit as good now as they were then...maybe better...PEACE
phenomenal driving arrangement. how tight is this band, damn. I remember where I was, who I was with.......what I was smokin' when somebody at a party handed me some obscure cassette tape of this band none of us had ever heard of called "Quennsryche". Was gonna just throw it in the trunk of my car, my buddy says to me,"let's check it out".....never been the same
I know exactly, what u mean......It was similar to me : a friend of mine came with a live CD and said"Listen to this...!" And I did...And I still do.....
LOL, I have a similar story. I was lead singer in a Metal Cover band in the 80's, and every week each member chose a song for us all to learn that week, and it seemed by Bass player and Lead Guitarists goal was to find a Metal lead singer that had a range so high I couldn't hit the notes....I was getting REAL tired of it....they hand me a tape of "Take Hold of the Flame"....I REALLY didn't even want to listen to it but I had to....blew me away! To this day Queensryche is my favorite band hands down! And by the way....it fucked up my Bass & Lead players when I NAILED IT ! After that they kinda concentrated more on songs everyone wanted to hear instead of trying to find the limits of my range, LOL
I'm a huge tate queensryche fan and was testing out some speakers when this popped up, for some reason I thought it was going to be a train wreck but I still haven't picked my jaw up off the floor. Still unbelievable sound in 2021, there are parts that sounded like the damn studio album. Thanks for making my night.
Remarkable talent this band has from the vocals to the overall music sound. Sound incredible live which is hard for many bands, but this band is beyond awesome!👍❤️🤘🎶
