I'm so excited to see this EPIC band appreciated again! I've seen people in almost every reaction dropping their jaws at Scott's slamming drums, but that's what I love about Queensryche, none of them turned into asshole rock stars, they had a passion for their craft. Still do! 🤘😠🤘🔥
@Johnny Eyeball No it's not about a literal disease, but just like the fact that most people only read HEADLINES, in news articles, some folks may identify with the song's title and nothing else. There's hundreds of songs that people identify with because of the title (and surface level lyrics) but the author's intent was much deeper.
Fighting fire, with empty words While the banks get fat And the poor stay poor And the rich get rich And the cops get paid To look away As the one percent rules America
It's all good man. Ít's all rock at the end of the day. Don't get caught up in the bullshit genre definitions that were really only buzzwords cooked up my the media. AIC are a metal band. one of the best metal bands of all time. Soundgarden..metal. More metal than Queensyche in many ways. A lot heavier when they want to be. Jesus Christ Pose and Rusty Cage are 2 of the best metal tunes of all time, up there with Sabbath and Priest.
That spoken word section is even truer today than it was when it was first written. That and Blasphemous Rumours by Depeche Mode are all you need to know about God and religion.
All of this is an indictment of Trump and his cabal. 1. Trumps multiple affairs with porno stars 2. massive tax cut for the wealthy 2. Endless stream of lies from his Administration....this was tailor made for the orange haired sack of shit.
@@EgoFiveFiveSix Chris and Michael are still friends, it's just that Chris works as a pilot now, so he doesn't have the time to play in Queensryche anymore
One of the things I love about Queensryche, on top having the best vocal and instrumental work around, is that their music has a timeless relevance. Every song from the politically charged album Operation Mind Crime could easily apply to today's time. In a world rife with music that is a testament to insipid narcissism, with simplistic melodies, it is nice that we can look back to bands like Queensryche for instrumental virtuosity and socially conscience music.
James Gilstrap interesting that Geoff had to get chris to pitch it to the other three, because they’d told Geoff no. Lazy guys, probably sounded like too much work.
yup, those vocals and that guitar worked perfectly with Rockenfell's drumming. for me it's tough listening after Empire, and I try to be open minded. but that's reality when a group makes timeless music like this and sets the bar so high.
@@Murf_Workshop For real. If even one member leaves, the whole chemistry is ruined. I've also tried keeping an open mind for all the post-DeGarmo albums, but they just don't have the same feel
My God what an awesome band is Queensryche! This is the most incredible concept album EVER!! And Geoff Tate is so damn sexy, he's also par excellence amongst vocalists in every genre!
This is such a brilliant song with top-notch lyrics. So I think the "disease" is actually Mary's situation itself, which the society facilitates(message delivered with that bridge before the final chorus). You see everyone's just taking advantage of Mary, even the father who saved her is just using her. "She wipes the filth away and is back on the streets again" with the word choice conveys to me that she hates what she's doing but has no choice. And in the second verse, "She's Sister Mary now, eyes as cold as ice" imply that she's coping with her situation by detaching herself emotionally. All of this makes me strongly empathize with Mary and to even understand how she feels and why, and this all is accomplished in so few words as well. Really love it.
I won concert tickets from 105.5 KNAC for answering the question, “Why is John a happy man?” Irvine Meadows 89 or 90. My fav band and the greatest memories from the first 5 albums. 🤘🏼🤘🏼❤️🇺🇸
@@dragonsfire6664 🤘🏼I have no idea how I missed your reply bro.🤘🏼That is so f’ing cool!! What an awesome memory. I sure miss them. LiveCrime is still one of the greatest concerts I ever saw. Take care😎🤘🏼
@@dragonsfire6664 Aaahhh, no way!! That’s awesome! Are you in Seattle, or is he traveling somewhere else? I would love to see that. It’s cool after almost 35 years, I can still sing every word to every song on Rage, Mindcrime & Empire lol. I hope you have an awesome time🤘🏼🇺🇸
Man the party days back in 89 with this just blasting on the stereo. Fond memories for sure. Back in highschool alot of people had Operation Mind Crime and Rage for Order. It was played alot until the grunge days which weren't bad either. They kind of disappeared after the mid 90s with popularity.
My all-time favorite guitar duo #DEGARMO #Wilton A super-talented band who gave us YEARS OF SONIC ROCK PERFECTION... !!!! #GeoffTate #ScottRockenfield #EddieJackson #QUEENSRYCHE
Why is there only live versions of this song available on RU-vid? You can't hear the bass and Geoff isn't hitting those high notes. Post the album version!!
There are 3 shows that I feel were the best of all time IMHO. Ozzy with Randy in 82, Maiden in Powerslave tour 84 and several different QR shows including the Madison Wisconsin one we drove forever to see from Seattle even though they always played Seattle. New Years Eve 1991 in Seattle and I hate to say it but the Moore in 2001 with Kelly Gray in place of DeGarmo. Always my favorites of all time live shows.
@@zed8155 Agreed. The virus might be real but it's unleashed for a reason. Expect a stronger version to be unleashed later this year to do the real job of depopulation. This was just a test.
