Honestly, I don't know any other screenwriter as cool as Quentin, he's truly unique when he writes his own dialogues for his movies. About Christoph Waltz, I just have to say that he is Tarantino's biggest finding, without him, Inglourious basterds wouldn't have been a succesful movie at all, so thank you Quentin for casting him to play Hans Landa's role, what's your position on that?
@mike8984ify
@mike8984ify 2 года назад
Think you underestimate just how many good actors there are. If not Waltz then someone else would have given a great performance and we’d be talking about how this movie would have failed without them. It’s a good movie regardless of the actors. They make it better but so would have others
@errwhattheflip

I'd be interested to hear what his DP exactly does/is allowed to do if Tarantino is physically framing the shots himself. Does the DP just hit record? I might sound ignorant I've just never thought about what a DP does in that situation.
@Jilloms
@Jilloms 5 лет назад
Great question. The DP for this project was Robert Richardson. I'm sure he did a lot more than just pressing record. Providing insight on framing/lighting choices, actually performing camera movements, knowing how to get the look Tarantino wanted, etc. were all a part of his job. I'm sure there's information out there you could find on his relationship with Tarantino
@Syklonus
@Syklonus 5 лет назад
Most, if not all directors frame the shots, because It's their canvas on which they paint. It's easier for the director to just get behind the camera and frame the shot rather than trying to explain it verbally to the DP. However, actually filming is far more than just framing and hitting record. There is smooth movement to consider, exposure, focus (subject and pulling), tracking, lighting the shot, commanding the grips etc. All of that needs an experienced DP and cameraman. Tarantino obviously trusts his cameraman because he said he doesn't use a monitor, so what he will be doing is giving the cameraman a good solid frame of reference. A flag in the ground so to speak, and then the cameraman can use that to do his thing while the director goes and directs.

@Jilloms
@Jilloms 5 лет назад
I apologize the audio was confusing for you. This is the first edit I did of this style and am still working on making it cleaner. For the commentaries, I try my best to work with the audio I have (which is sometimes beyond saving). Sometimes I will cut out extremely long pauses or "uh/ums" to keep the commentary moving along and sometimes to audio itself is already like that. This does result in odd clipping if not worked carefully. Thanks for letting me know how it sounded for you. I'm always working to improve!
