There's a service that changes regular videos to spatial video which can then be viewed on the quest. The Android quest app has an option now to send spatial video to the headset.
WRONG. There’s an app called SpatialCamera, which lets you record spatial video on any iPhone with a binary camera setup. It even is coded as official spatial video and has the little badge in photos.
I'm wondering if this will support all panoramic image formats. I've had Sony cameras that shoot 3D panaoramic images for over a decade, I'd love to view them on my quest.
Passthrough for me and several others has either not improved or got worse. I have no ability to upload panoramas and I have the iphone 15 pro max with IOS 17.4 And I still get the gray area when powering off. I'm running PTC v65
Thank god for the spatial video update! I’ve had so many spatial videos on my iphone 12 airdropped from friends and family but could never upload them unless I had an iphone 15 pro.
Let us know if that works. I heard it doesn’t work when you send spatial videos from another phone. It supposedly has to go directly from the iphone 15 to the Quest 3.
You missed talking about the 2 big new things from v65 detail release note from the blog about “Mouse and keyboard improvements” and “Local multiplayer and boundary recall with Meta Virtual Positioning System”.
I'm enjoying these updates but does anybody also notice they come with a lot of bugs ? I got some bugs lately where the meta menu bar won't work, I press the meta button and it just isn't there, I have to restart the headset. I also have an issue where my wifi doesn't reconnect automatically, I have bad signal so it sometimes disconnects but then I have to go into the wifi settings to reconnect it even if it is set to auto reconnect...
Thanks for putting the effort into these short tidbits as we wait for the next slew of big games. Nice to have these running as I work on stuff here on the PC.
Go into settings and look for the tab that says something like "system". It's the one with all the tabs on the left hand side when you get into it. There's a tab at the bottom with "updates" or something like that. That'll tell you which version you're on
I have so many spatial videos I took while traveling I can’t wait to now view my panoramas but I hope it includes my 360 panoramas that I took with my iPhone with insta 360’s gimbal
I do wish they'd allow us to play all 3D video through the fancy new video player. I was shooting 3D video long before Apple put their pretentious little moniker over an existing format. And yeah, it is weird that they only mention iOS for panorama.
I'm pretty confident I dropped a comment about how the update broke my Pro controllers, apparently it got deleted - maybe because I kinda ranted on Meta for releasing it in that state, but to be fair, this is PTC after all still - it's supposed to have some issues sometimes that get fixed on the actual release which hasn't happened yet to most people. But I want people, especially those at Meta to know this: They still register button presses (like the Oculus button for un-/summoning the menu), but they aren't being tracked anymore. Sometimes they do work, but only after a gajillion of both headset and controllers reboots, when a d12 or d20 crits. Initially, I thought it was only related to not being within the guardian as I noticed it first when wanted to go flying upstairs with the guardian disabled. I now have to add that it obviously is not only related to disabling the guardian or just leaving it, it also happens right within. What I also noticed, when the controllers do work after a few dice rolls, the headset is locked down to 72Hz. Goes up to 90 or more immediately when disconnecting the controllers or paring the Standard controllers (which I ultimately did for the time being).
Addendum: Got another 12MB update yesterday (that took over an hour to effin download...) which broke the screenshot hotkey combo... Meta is absolutely nailing it lately! :D
They could add stereoscopic recording to android devices, but they'd still need to have a side by side camera layout and lidar sensor, plus record in MV-HEVC.
Update 65 killed my Pro controllers tracking while not being within the guardian, regardless if leaving it in passthrough mode or disabling it through either the Medduhquest Developer Hub or within the dev settings in the headset itself - I can still perfectly use the Oculus button, but anything else won't work. I used to do that for using it in my computer room for flight simming so I wouldn't have to redraw my guardian everytime I switch rooms, which I otherwise ultimately have to, because the device keeps deleting the only room it has when generating another guardian that's not on the same floor in the house - which works fine, I can totally have 2 guardians on one floor, but not one downstairs and another upstairs. TL;DR: This sucks, especially since I literally paid the premium that those controllers are (and totally worth it if there's currently no problems with those). I'm literally about to pull out the Standard controllers again and keep repairing them instead of drawing the rooms everytime again. Why does the software suck like that? If they wanna sell it to other manufacturers, they really have not only to pony up, but actually to horse up _A fRiCkEn LoT_ to get their ship together once and for all!
No it was actually confusing in the beginning because I wasn't sure if there was a video lag because he is talking about one thing but showing images of something else, it throws you off until you just listen to what he is saying
Because there wasn't any footage of the new updates just a list. It was better than me standing there on screen and I didn't have footage of what the update offered 🤷♂️
The phones need to support recording spatial video, then I'm sure you could. There's no Android models that do at this stage. You can also convert side by side 3D videos to MV-HEVC using an app like Spatialify.
Please start showing video content that relates to what you're talking about. When you're talking about new features you're showing games instead. Show something related to what you're talking about. Thanks!
Updates roll out randomly so there’s no way he can do example footage or side by side comparisons until much later. I’m totally fine with this informative type video👍
It doesn’t have to be the actual footage. It could be as simple as plugging in an existing video from either quest or apple that has been shown before. At least not a random game video.
Wow really? That's it. Meta must really not care about the consumers seeing as version 63 was said by literally them that scope storage was going to be fixed. Then 64 came out and now 65 and there's no changes. Looks like a lot of people are going to hold off on buying meta quest headsets and instead just spend their money on something more worthwhile and that's big since I myself own a quest 1, 2, and 3 and this pisses me off to the ends of the Earth that meta does not give a damn about their consumers. They could have avoided this if they would have just been more cooperative with Android to make sure this didn't happen but no scope storage is still broken and it's both equally Android's fault and meta's
