Somehow I felt older when I was 26 than I do now at 38. I think you get a second wind towards midlife, and you also let go of a lot of expectations and learn to laugh at yourself more. I still learn new shit to this day and I appreciate every moment I’m able to ride my skateboard. Congrats on the nollie hard, dude, that shit was buttery.
12:00 the whistle for that kids back heel is how u know gifted a real one down for the cause. idk if he knows that kid or not or if that kid even knows who gifted is. But a vibe like that crucial when you a ripper shredding with younger folk. gifted is a g to include the clip in the first place. That sorta real recognize real thing. A lil respect from the older/more skilled crowd goes a long way. And some times ends up being more motivating/inspiring than any pro part could ever be. Don't ever change bruh. Always be that dude whistling or giving tail smacks. That's the love.
I'm 48, started skating in 1985, I considered myself a pretty good skater in 1989 but stopped progressing around that rocket kick flip era... 😂 as I got back to "trying" last couple years and last week I finally figured out proper flick and have landed more kick flips than I ever did in 1989. Fakie flips too! No big deal for all you post 90s kids but for me I might as well be landing McTwists. I am more stoked and excited about skating than ever. Stay young at heart and you will have an advantage because you'll refuse to die!
It never stops dude, you can keep getting better at skating for the rest of your life. I'm 49 and have the benefit of a relatively low skill level, but I'm a better skater than I've ever been and still have 4 or 5 stairs worth of knees and ankles left 👍🏽

ive watched every video of yours and this one was my favorite. your analyses on jah and the industry bs is gold. but watching you embrace progression despite getting older is gnarly. your nollie hardflips looked all sick, my fav was the first on the euro and the last one. a next trick could be a fs 180 nosegrind bs 180 back to regs or a frontside flip nosegrind
I'd like to see you learn backside 360s on bank, flat and launch. It's one that I learned one day and then lost again. Or some transition tricks, like I can't figure out how to cruise a back smith grind on a qp, my front wheels always drag. Blunt to fakie is another challenging one to do proper. I'm 31 and relate to the sentiment about skating better than ever in spite of not skating stairs or handrails anymore. I think transition is a good thing to work on in this stage of skatelife.
For bs smiths on qp's: Front heel, back toe. Front heel levels it out and keeps the board flat in smith position, keep your weight behind your back foot and push the back toe INTO the coping. This is what i think about when i do them maybe it helps!!
I'm 41 and at the peak of my performance since almost 30 years of skating. I'm not jumping down sets anymore, though. Mainly because it's not healthy and also because it's just too ruff and not fun to me. I need at least a bank or Quarterpipe to land in. But energy wise and the power and pop i gained during the last 6 years it got pretty crazy.
PROD does also. That is my favorite trick. Check out my Short Clip busting a Nollie Hardflip NorthStar on my 10.75 Zip Zogger over ball. 45 years old and going strong. Age is only a # until you fall , lol.

You just gotta cover the whole nose with your front foot. Point the toes of your back foot right in the middle of the deck just in front of the rear bolts. Closed shoulders. You'll get them every time, ghost pop or not.
Watched a dude go to battle with a nollie hardflip over that ball a Harbor City park recently. He was popping super high. Once he finally stuck it he whipped around and switch hardflipped the five stair first try. 😯
I like this video. I also understand it: I got asked to do a varial heelflip and tried for twenty minutes and didn't get it yet. But I will soon. And it will feel great.
In terms of neuroplasticity and general physical ability, there's nothing stopping you from being a lifelong learner in any endeavour (how the fuck do u write that word). there's always new avenues to explore. the reason people stop learning isn't because you're somehow physically incapable of it, but rather ideas permeating in the culture about when u reach x age u will stop improving in various areas. This is also true in other sports, i.e. weightlifting, running etc. people think when u reach 30+ everything just starts to deteriorate. it's an idea that are noceboing people and it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. according to many meta-analyses on the subject matter, muscular strength, cognitive abilities etc. don't start declining before well into your 50s IF u stay physically active throughout life. in short: don't stop hopping fences.
Hey dude love this as content. The crook nollie flip was fun too. How about trying a straight up wallie, up and onto something high. Like just riding into a wall basically and going up. I never could figure that one out but had friends who could always do it. I thought you were gonna say gnat gnat means like a tiny insignificant fruit fly ass hoe or something of that nature.😅
