I know we are focused on gaming primarily, but it’s 2:00 AM and I’m still listening to Red Hot Chili Peppers: Snow. HBB did great work here guys 🙌🏽If you grab a pair, as always, happy fragging.
I love this series the only channel that reviews iems for competitive gaming. Although these are out of my price rang. The highest I would spend is probably $450 and it definitely wouldn't be a impulse buy.
For sure. I recommend doing as much research as possible to feel comfortable with a hefty purchase. Especially from many of the sites with restocking fees etc !
Man, loving your reviews. I like how you explain how the IEM works with music, and in games as well (which is very rare in the community). Bought a CCA iem for music and gaming, a few months back. Love it for music, absolutely hated it for gaming. I hate how it images in-game. I had better experience with a few cheap in-ears in the past. A lot of people said iem for gaming doesn't matter, and you could use anything to game. Turns out, that's further from the truth, in my experience. That's why I love your reviews. Talks about games while also talks about audio gears. Some other recs that would be interesting to see how they perform in games: Penon Serial - 3DD XENNS Mangird Tea 2 - 1DD 6BA Shuoer S12 - 1 Planar Magnetic Tanchjim Hana 2021 - 1DD
Fantastic job on the gaming reviews on iem/headphones , it has been a ton of help. Can't wait to see what's to come. Just ordered a Blessing2:Dusk and about to jump on a set of HD650s!
I wish I would found you’re channel 3-4 years earlier when I played a lot and searched for all these comp equipment for Comp gaming. Better now than never 😂
you mentioned the xenns up, have you tried them? if so, what are your thoughts on it? i have the kinda lavas coming soon, but they weren't exactly my first choice. i was more interested in the xenns up, but couldn't pass up the kinda lavas being on sale
Did not have the opportunity to try them in game but did try them for music. Very fun. Don’t strike me as being something good in game, but enjoyable music listening experience
@@FreshReviewsYT okay cool. that's good to know about the gaming side. appreciate it. yanyin canon is another one seemed similar, but at a cheaper price point. the thor mjolnir mk2 and raptgo hook x are other interesting ones, hope to see your take if you get a chance on those. appreciate the reviews
I personally do, because the price of IEMs in this current market is actually quite high for quality. But, there are great IEMs in the 300-600 range. I personally love the kinda lavas more. If you want to save though the Dunu is great. Ultimate imaging though right now I’d go kinda lava
Nice review! I did some research and maybe you could check out the Fiio Fh3 as a budget option. They are about 130€ and should be above average for imaging. Also heard about the Tanchjim Hana having a very open soundstage and imaging, those are about 180€
I have the Hanas and they are my favorite gaming audio device out of my modest collection. So I second this comment. Also, the old ones are 150$ while the new ones are 170$. Some of the best imaging and Soundstage for gaming.
Great review as always! Already ordered one with the mother's day discount. Please try the IE600 next. It looks awesome and mmcx is easier to find boom mic cable.
Bro I've been looking for iems with capabilities like this for ages, but a lot of iem reviewers only compare sound characteristics to other iems or headphones. I love the fact that you mentioned its general tonality with music as well as its gaming capabilities. How would you compare this to the HD800S? I'll be looking at picking up a pair in the near future
The hd800s are definitely insanely analytical and open. Broad landscape. But the Kinda lavas are insane for IEMs. I feel I have amazing directional audio and a more fun tonality
Nice review as always! But I have questions. Thieaudio Oracle is also tribrid(1dd+2ba+2est), do you think there is any significant difference between oracle and ej07m for gaming? I can get this for $70 cheaper. Do you think oracle is a better choice?
From the research I've done.. The thieaudio sets all have a similar soundstage like the monarch.. So if you want to be sure only go with what he recommends.
Forgot to remind you about S8s, they also matches your characteristic about sub and mid bass. Difference between peak of subbass and the bottom of midbass on frequency graph is 5db, for example kinda lava has 6db.
How would you compare the IEMs and the over-ear headphones on your wallhack lists? Do you prefer IEMs more than over-ear headphones now? I absolutely love your reviews! Honestly, I wish you were around when I embarked my headphone search for competitive gaming. I have watched and read many of the popular reviews and they led me to get the headphones that were... disappointing (Superlux HD668B, HyperX Stinger, Philips SHP9500S, Audio Technica ATH-M40X, Audio Technica ATH-AD700X, Cooler Master MH-751, and Sennheiser PC38X). 700X was the only over-ear headphones that kind of worked for me but the fit was horrendous... After many seasons of headaches, I decided to switch from over-ear headphones to IEMs. I have gotten TinHiFi T2, KZ AS12, and Etymotic ER3SE purely for competitive gaming, and I would rank ER3SE > AS12 >>> T2. However, my daily driver is actually AS12 due to the comfort. I am not completely satisfied with AS12 and want to upgrade it in the near future. Your reviews are just so right on the spot, I can't wait to hear more from you! (Especially in the budget categories lol)
So I do still personally prefer hd560s over the IEMs in terms of competitive benefits. However, these get damn close and are so comfy light etc. it’s definitely a little trade off but still really damn good for comp
I really like the way you describe the sound of this set. If you don't mind me asking is it possible to make a comparison with the normal EJ07M. I'm coming from music perspective though not so much in gaming but that might be good to know. Especially when they're actually have the same price. Thanks in advance
Another great video fresh. I’ve never heard a truly high end Iem like this, the Olina is probably the best I’ve heard. How much better is the kinda lava in comparison. Like, would I be blown away by the difference or would there be more diminishing returns? The best headphones I’ve tried for gaming are the hifiman edition xs, I find them superb for gaming but I’m leaning towards iems recently for size and comfort. I tried the 7hz zero and chu iems as budget options and they were both dreadful, if you haven’t tried the zero i wouldn’t bother, very similar experience to the chu.
I've ordered the Ej07 now. But if I don't like them, I will sell them get a budget option just for gaming and rock the timeless 7hz for music. So yea also curious about the cheap stuff.
Hope we can get your feedback on the Moondrop CHU, it seems a really neutral IEM and sold below $30 so it might be great for customizing with EQ (it also comes with a mic, perhaps good enough for budget FPS gaming?) & also the Moondrop Quarks which are $15 with a mic too (might even be the exact same mic). This is mostly for me and people on a similar situation lol, i'm too poor for $200+ IEMs. Cheers!
So I purchased the falcon pro’s based on your review. I like them but I’m thinking of getting these instead. I want a pair of IEMs that are great for gaming and music so I can invest more money for higher quality but get more versatility out of them. Do you think these kinda lava’s would fit the bill? I play a ton of valorant and fortnite, thanks!
@@FreshReviewsYT I also bought the hd560s based on your reviews for when I want to switch it up due to ear fatigue. How similar are these to the 560s cause they are phenomenal for gaming
@@FreshReviewsYT do you think switching to the DT 900 pro x would be more comfortable, I love the 560s but I do get fatigued after a while. I saw those were your top pick headphones for gaming
@@meredithgordon4101 the 900 pro is a bit less comfortable for most because of tight clamping force, but in terms of treble they’re a bit less fatiguing than the 560s. They sound a bit more boomy for tac shooters and a closer stage so a bit better for valorant imo. The tygr 300r can also be quite fun as well but a bit too bassy in certain scenarios in apex
Out of all the IEM's you've reviewed for gaming which would you say are you top picks? I currently have some HD800S which I of course love, but recently I got the IE300 for £125 on Amazon prime day, and I honestly really enjoy them, I'm sure there are better ones for gaming, but it just has some quite fun tuning, I know that part is subjective but I have been enjoying it so I am looking to try out some more, just currently going through your quest for the best playlist!
@@FreshReviewsYT Alrighttt I'm back after a month. I ordered the Dunu Vulkans based on your review but it took about 6 weeks for them to arrive. Worth the wait though, I really like them. I think I am also going to try the rapthook x and blessing 2's. Are there IEM's which you think are very good for gaming but also very good for music? I know that can be quite subjective, but just wondered what you think. Music I guess at the moment would mainly be hip hop, and gaming would be fps, apex etc
Great review. I have been looking for a tribrid for awhile. Probably getting this when I have a budget. If possible, please review Raptgo Hook-X open back planar IEM which was recommended by HBB
I have dusks coming, would you say they would perform almost the same as the normal blessing2’s in game? Love your videos, your voice was still good to listen to.
Haha ty! The dusk will be fire. I haven’t tried the dusk personally but it’s closer to the ej07m than the original blessing 2. If you feel like you love it but want a bit more punch try the ej!
I own the b2 and the dusk and I wasn't that impressed with them I'm more into music then gaming but there are alot better iems out there for less money .like the olina from tripowin the 7htz timeless ,shuoer s12 ,mangird tea or the mangird tea2 just to name a few.the b2 was good a year or so ago but iems have come far in the past year alone check out Michael Bruce's reviews and bggar.bad guy good audio reviews is the one that turned the kinda lava and the olina's he knows his stuff same with Michael Bruce . But for a budget you just can't beat the olina's I've tried.
@@samgilliland3423 I have the olina coming. I was not at all impressed by the mangird tea for gaming and the 7hz timeless was a miss, again for gaming specifically. Looking forward to trying the olina for sure. Heard so many great things about the tea, and I do enjoy them for music, but I did have several issues for gaming which I’ll probably add to the next quest video
what shape would you describe the soundstage? i think the blessing 2 has a bit of a oval shape.. Is this a perfect circle? More depth then the blessing 2?
I have these and agree with you man, amazing. Also did you know that there was different versions that came out? Chris got the preproduction set which he personally tuned then there was the one we got. It has a reduced sub base while everything else stayed the same. This is why there are two different versions on his graphs and also why he came out with the Mahina by yanyin. That had his intended bass profile he had with the preproduction kinda lava that we sadly didnt get. I have read of others sending theirs in to letshuoer to get them retuned and I considered buying another pair just to do this with. I like the mahina but I feel as if its limited in comparison to the ej07m. Mainly because it has 2 ESTs instead of 4 ESTs. Looking at forums on hifiguids, others have said that they preferred the retunning of their kinda lava (after they got it back from letshuoer) instead of the mahina. I am very tempted..
That’s a great combo honestly. You’d be hard pressed to see huge gains. You’d gain some great level of comfort however and I personally do enjoy the lava more than the tygr for comp purposes personally
@@FreshReviewsYT thank you! And it’s a great combo bc I learned it from this channel😂 been loving it so far! They are extremely comfortable compared to my old arctis 7.
Another great review! Thank you! How are these and the Duno Falcon Pros in Hunt: Showdown? I have a lot of money spent on headphones, Massdrops Beyerdynamic DT 177X GO, Sen 58X, Sen 560s, Drop HiFiman HE 4XX to name a few, I Love the DT 177x for gaming when I cant wear open back, which is often do to my environment and noise in the household and run off Modius and Magnius Schiit Stack. Anyways, I am very interested in trying some IEMs but how are they in HUNT: Showdown? Since I started playing hunt 7months ago it is all I want to play! The game is AMAZING!! I have tried going back to other games but I just cant or dont want to. The SOUND in HUNT is just amazing. If you can please let me know how these 2 IEMs do in Hunt, for staging and imaging I would much appricate it? Thanks in advance.
@@FreshReviewsYT So, I have been using the Duno Falcon Pros in HUNT Showdown for over a month now. And they are quite amazing. The sound Stage is smaller than my 177x Go’s for sure, like shots in the distance are harder to determine which compound they are at (but in a months’ time I now can tell, it’s just still harder than it was with all my other headphones). The imagining is quite amazing and pinpoint accurate on the same elevation. The only place I struggle with them sometimes is on different elevation. I don’t play much Quick Play but the games I did play I almost felt like I was hacking they are that accurate. I could tell exactly where an opponent is and when they would walk out from cover!!! SERIOUSLY NO LIE! When playing in Duos and Trios there is just a lot more noise from teammates in game to discord chatter and I struggle but I am pretty sure that is my ears and age. I have a decent amount of hearing loss of high frequencies in my left ear so the more noises going on even my teammates footsteps can throw me off some, but again that’s on me not the Duno Falcon Pro. For the price of these they are amazing! $220.00 I would easily recommend these to friends. I paid $450.00 for my DT 177x Go’s from Drop and I don’t regret that, but the Duno Falcon Pros are all I have been using since I got them. I have not put any of my headphones on since. I am very tempted to purchase the Shuoer EJ07M Kinda Lava’s. You stated they are pinpoint accurate even on elevation, do you still stand by that statement? Sound stage is also much better than the Duno Falcon Pros? Have you had a chance to play Hunt Showdown while wearing the EJ07M Kinda Lava’s and Duno Falcon Pros? Not that I Care about my KDR in Hunt but since I got my Duno Falcon Pro IEMs it has gone up almost a quarter of a Point. So that says something.
i knew i should have held off.... OOOF lol great review though again as always brother. loving the exploration variations! if you want to keep trying more the thieaudio oracle and excalaber are supposed to be superb!
@fresh also what holds the sa6 back on your list? tbh really suprised they arent higher. and while i still have time to send them back i really want to compare.
The Dunu sa6 is great! The only reason I took them off is because of the price. I felt the Falcon pro did just a bit better in game (not for music though) and the blessing 2s are also cheaper. I think you’re right though. I feel I should add them back on my list and give them a #4 slot for what I’ve tried so far
Keep in mind though, for music I’d definitely take the Dunu sa6 for what I like over the b2 and Falcon pro. I personally think I liked the mk2 for music a bit more than the ej07m, but the ej07m is amazing for different reasons for music and insanely better for gaming. Really nice feature set in this pair. Also the comfort on the mk2 is brutal haha
@@FreshReviewsYT hmmmm so tempted to send the sa6 back and get me these ej07m. looked at bad guys ownreview too and sounds like it is up my alley. i do love music as well and love to just relax and jam. i like all generas but find myself on metal rock rap and such most. its also crazy to think how good they are for gaming over the sa6 since the sa6 have been such a stride from my old deva's. let alone music where i feel i can pick apart a song instrument by instrument. chord by chord. so hard to fathem them being so much better. but at end of day i love both music and gaming and for only 100 bcks more i can get the ej that are even a bit above... hmmmm. XD
hey man what do u think of g1wl audo technica vs hd560S? or quantum 800 i know that 2 are wireless and the sennheiser si wired but just wanted ur opinion
Hey fresh, I picked up the Dunu Falcon Pro based on your suggestion and been loving them and was wondering what nozzle do you think is the best for gaming.
@@FreshReviewsYT Is the difference between default and immersion noticeable? And would you recommend using the sedna eartips on the dunu falcon pro? Sorry for hijacking your comment @Juan
@@dcj1936 I think Dunu makes amazing ear tips. No need to upgrade imho. The immersion tips are very similar to the defaults. Maybe just a tiny tiny bit more emphasis on footsteps
How would you compare these to your top headphones list when it come to Soundstage and imaging. I'm using the HarmonicDyne Zeus and thinking of getting the Beyerdynamic Dt 900 pro x because you talked good about them. How do those iem compare to headphones. Thanks
The stage is still larger on most open backs on the list, but my localization is insane on these. It’s so close and good that it really comes down to audio quality and preference of whether you want in ear or over ear
Do you have a twitter? I had a couple things to ask you about eartips what you prefer today and if youve tried extra wide bore tips like the tri clarions. How they affect in game imaging etc as well if youve tried the moondrop ssr. I cant imagine it being better than the aria but some people in a discord im in say its great for gaming
I’m looking to upgrade from the Astro A50’s and really want to go IED for how minimal they are. If I go over-ear it’ll probably be the HarmonicDyne Zeus, how does these compete with those would you say? Either way, both would be an improvement over the Astro’s correct?
I haven’t reviewed the dusk. HBB didn’t have a graph for the blessing 2, only the dusk. The dusk has elevated bass over the blessing 2, so assume the graph would be lower in those regions on the original
Which of the three iems in your wallhack tierlist would you say is the most comfortable? I find that wearing iems for a long period give me more discomfort compared to headphones.
Would love to hear your opinion on the audeze Euclid sometime. Imo the pinnacle of sound staging and imaging in iems, but absolutely needs EQ cause the stock tuning is too dark for music and gaming.
I got these now. Thanks for recommending. I really like them. It took a while to burn in but I love them for both music and gaming. They are not 100% perfect but good enough.
@@DastikHDx they are realy great for gaming and 3D audio that sort of stuff, what is missing.. ok SOME! SOME! synthwave doesnt sound as incredible as lets on the 7hz timeless, but about 95% of the music i have sounds incredible! they have great subbase, but i would have loved a teeny bit less sub base and a bit more midbass. but again. they are INCREDIBLE. in fact. Thats it for me. im done. i will no longer buy others or look for others. this is it. completely satisfied.
@@jootai Great answer. I hope they can impress me as well. I have returned and tried out some iems and hope that this is the Endgame I was hoping for. I have been using the original DT 1990 Pro with the analytical pads and have always been blown away by Them. But them being Open back has become a problem since I moved in with my Partner. That’s literally the only reason why I hope that these will have great fit isolation and 3d audio.
@@DastikHDx cool man i hope they work out for you. I do like them , i like that they are super light weight, they isolate very good, they are so comfortable. i work at my pc, so basicly i have those puppies in for about 8 hours straight. no problem. i can barely feel em. I like them! they are not very sharp or trebble focussed ( what i like), so if you are looking for that, its not here but its a good fun clean iem with a little spice here and there.
So I am currently gaming with Sennheiser Hd8xx by drop and I’m currently debating on swapping out for IEMs. Although the Hd8xx sound phenomenal, they can become overwhelming for fps like warzone. Any suggestions?
I haven’t tried the 8xx but I hear they’re not as good as the original from sennheiser. You can certainly try IEMs! Especially if you want to not have over the ear headphones
I remember trying the starfields once. I did not review them and it was before all my IEM testing, but I remember disliking them for apex and returning them. I remember feeling that the apple earbuds did a better job for imaging in apex particularly
@@derilasong oof. You know I’m actually struggling to remember. I think at that time I was more focused on apex and I can’t really remember how intensively I tested them in valorant. If I rebuy them I’ll do a video for sure
Original hook-x is incredible music experience, somewhat uncomfortable fit might not be best for gaming unless you filter them upper mids is aggressive for sure. I have og EJ07M and love them knowing mid-bass not equal to sub bass they still sound superb if I get new job, might get kinda lava hope 11.11 sale can get them for $500 they are endgame quality!!
Would love to hear your thoughts on the Ikko OH10! Decided to hop into the iem world and I have found these to well in both valorant and music. Also surprisingly comfortable for being 16 grams a piece.

I feel silly not asking to review the popular recommendation for gaming iem, the Final Audio VR3000. Made specifically for 3D sound for fps/vr applications.
Hello Fresh ! I'm using Zen DAC V1 (2nd hand) with Moondrop Aria after I saw your IEM quest. It's a big upgrade from Gaming headset btw. I saw vaxee np-01s (?) on your desk with Lethal Cable(?) correct me if it not. Can you short review about cable and feeling comparison to stock cable ? I have issue with stock cable even if I'm using bungee. Thanks in advance Keep your work up I'm very love your apex highlight.
Consider myself intrigued, even though I don't own any high end iems yet, the prospect intrigues me because I am sensitive to headphones that are either uncomfortable or make my head sweat. Is there any microphonics on the cable?
My pair arrived yesterday! Went from the DT 900 pro X to these and holy shit! The gaming performance is damm near perfection. Sorry I gotta stop watching this channel now or I might lose a kidney.
@@jootai Definitely, they should be arriving today or tomorrow and I'm still excited to use them, and it's always dangerous to say "Well, for $100 more I could get these", because at that point you could keep moving the target and before you know it you're looking at a product way more than $100 past your original budget!
@@thearcade. i started this quest looking for iem's near a 100 tops pricepoint.. that was like 4 months ago. i now own nearly a 1000 bucks worth of iem's.. its very dangerous path to go down to! test the dunu's mate! maybe they will be just perfect for you
@@beasemo9007 it’s a fairly reasonable stack that can pretty much power anything. It has a little bit of bass and warmth. It’s really good if you want to future proof to power any headphones you get
@@FreshReviewsYT dope. I’m gunna look into it? Is there a lot of tweaking you have to do to get the sound exactly how you need it for gaming? Like in settings or software?
Hey! Love your quest for the best series. Just bought the falcon pro’s off your recommendation (currently using finalaudio a4000). I was wondering you have plans to try the campfire Andromeda 2020? When I first started down this IEM journey, I read that the andros are very holographic and some what similar to HD800’s (these are the over ears I used to use). I haven’t pulled the trigger on them yet, but would love to hear your opinion. Cheers from Canada!
Check out the Tanchjim Hanas (old 150$ or new 170$) for gaming and music. These things sound great and have some of the best imaging and Soundstage for gaming. I have Arias, Starseas, Razer Hammerhead V2s and Apple pods and these don't compare for gaming. For headsets I started with the HyperX Stingers and went for the Arctis Pros+DAC as well. I use the Hanas everyday and while the Arctis Pros compare, I don't like them as much. Plus the Hanas are way cheaper and way more comfortable. For reference I play Apex and Valorant but mostly Valorant. The sound profile has immaculate imaging with a Soundstage almost made for gaming. The mids are very clear with the treble having the floor but not overwhelmingly. The bass is perfect, not too punchy but not missing at all. If you want to change your sound profile on IEMs, the tips are what you should be looking at (along with the filter).
Nice review. I have been using the Tripowin x HBB Olina (with double filter mod) for gaming, and I think they are excellent for gaming and music. I think the imaging is phenomenal, that they actually replaced my hd560s for gaming. They might be something to consider in the 100$ price point. I would like to know your opinion on these, and how they stack against most IEMs that you have already tried.
@@USEERZID The stage is smaller than the hd560s (since it is an IEM), but I would say it is above average for an IEM,. The stage isn't claustrophobic, and there is definitely some width and height. Comparing to the Moondrop Aria, I feel like the Aria has a bit bigger stage, but images worse. IMO imaging is way more important than staging for competitive gaming. From what I have tried so far the olina imaging feels holographic, but take this with a grain of salt since I haven't tried any higher end sets.
Maybe test out Philips SHP9500? Its a budget headphone and everyone claims it's one of the best under 100$ bracket and can even compete with other headphones 2x its price. I would love to see how they compare to high end headphones. Its very difficult to find someone competitive that can test audiophile gear alongside with competitive peripherals... Love from Brazil.
These were recently $540 on sale and I was tempted to order them but very few reviews / testimonials are currently out. I've heard good things so far especially considering some people have fit issues with the ThieAudio Oracle / Excalibur and Moondrop Variations at this price point. The Dunu SA6 and Kinda Lava seem to be the safe choices for fit while also being well tuned.
@@FreshReviewsYT Will be waiting for your opinion on it 🙌🏻 I kinda wanna get a new iem and was debating ie 600 or monarch mk2. Both for gaming and media

A lot of PUBG pro players and streamers use the Bose QC20. I wouldn't expect them to be great, but might be worth testing just to put them into perspective as they are very popular with the PUBG community.

I am THIS close to pulling the trigger on these thanks to the 20% shuoer sale. Am a bit worried that upper mids (For female vocals) will be a bit lacking, and ive been reading that treble performance is alright but can be lacking in energy due to the early roll off. But I guess that compliments my tripowin olina, which btw is also an amazing set you should check it out man
