*There's now a newer and easier more up to date method to run it directly on your quest. Check it out here:* docs.slimevr.dev/tools/termux-installation.html Bagel just informed me that "if you install with Termux, to restart the server (quest dies or smth) you have to run the command `java -jar slimevr.jar` " You don't actually need to re-run all the commands 😃
I was expecting one of the methods to be the one a research group developed to use the headset tracking cameras to calculate the leg position, but it was super janky as one would expect. but so are slime trackers.
Very interesting use of the OSC (Open Sound Control) protocol, which comes from audio/video production. It's commonly used as a successor to MIDI for connecting DAW's, Mixer, Drum pads and such over the network. I see the logic in using it though, as in both cases the need for low latency is a must.
yeah i actually thought about this but now i wonder, could it be possible to transfer the osc data onto another service at the same time, to receive the signals onto a DAW ? it would be soooooo amazing doing a body-tracking controller djset in vrchat (my dream honestly
@@n666tion that would be cool, i’m sure it’s possible they have those rings you can bind to vst parameters. it would be cool to map them to instruments or effects and modulate the song with dance or just movements.
@@P_nk_ yeah yeah definitely ! i'm going to read more into slimevr server thingies n stuff cause if this is doable and this browser running the backgroud doesn't slow the game, well, i'm in !
I'm so glad to finally have a tutorial that tells you the harder options based on the materials you have. So many tutorials I've seen tell you the easiest choices so I have to work backwards through each step and replace them with something else
I'm a PCVR FBT VR Enthusiast so I don't really know why I'm watching this all the way through, but it's honestly gonna be super cool seeing "Questies" running around with full movement!
Thank you for being so informational in all your videos, especially this one. It's the reason I'm subscribed, you're the only VR RU-vidr I know who actually goes in-depth with new tech/news!
been following you Mysti ever since I bought my Quest2 earlier this month. Dare I say I learned a lot about my device from you than the manual. Thanks for making great content
I tried this with my phone and it "kinda" worked, if I was trying to use my phone for a leg I could never lift it, it would turn the foot but never move it. But if I did my hip it would work but not entirely but that was my fault. Very helpful video!
@@Butterbob. I use the PC (steam), and quest method. The only thing you need for *PC,* is steam and the SlimeVR server app. For *quest* the only thing you need is the SlimeVR server app. Works perfectly, all you need to do is reset it at times No other mods required
Now this is cool. I bet in a year or two we can get full MO-CAP with just a cheap kit or even just a phone app with really good inside out tracking. Will be a game changer for indie game devs for sure.
Shiba squad! xD thanks for posting this video. There's a lot of information here and I definitely plan on using this at some point in the future. I'm always hanging out with my friends with their full body tracking and I'm always a bit jealous because of how glorious it looks, but we all get along and chill out. There's so many applications that it can be used for, but I kind of want to dance and just shake. Perfect for avatars with ears and tails - w - but for now I'm just a half body user. Recently set up my VR laptop but having issues with certain things. The cord keeps disconnecting randomly and I think it might be a problem with the port. I'll figure that out in time but thank you for posting this video. Very informational and I have plenty of spare Android phones that will do the job for now. I would love an actual setup but why not make do with the supplies that are already at my disposal
This is so much info... All this just for full body tracking.. I don't think it's worth it, I thought it would be more simple like the hand tracking and I don't know if I will get this right or if I'll mess up
just a quick warning, termux is deprecated on play store since the last time i've checked and should only be downloaded directly from github or f-droid if you want to make sure everything works without problems
I’ve actually had it where my quest2 has been able to open the browser in the middle of playing vrchat, and then get back into the game right where I left off. It was a little scuffed; definitely wasn’t intended, and I think the only reason it worked was because I clicked a link to a guide in the vrchat menu by accident and then quickly re-opened the game when I realized. So, theoretically, if you’re lightning fast about it, you could potentially reset your tracking using the complete quest standalone method. I don’t have slime trackers to test it myself, unfortunately, but the possibility’s there, maybe?
but how can you use it through PCVR? and not just stand alone? is it the same methode and i just need to launch vrchat from my pc or is it only stand alone Quest 2?
Besides slime trackers, are there any other trackers (preferably on amazon) that you would recommend? I don't want to end up with trackers that I can't even use.
Can you use any other trackers instead of just slimeVR? It kinda sucks cause I just recently bought tundra trackers and didnt realize they needed base stations so I havent been able to use them at all.
Im trying to do the third method, idk what im doing wrong. I follow everything and it just says on the browser "connecting to server" and mothing else.
Can ya make a video showing you going through ALL of it, so just in case someone is having a hard time trying to find things they can just watch that and find it easier
