It doesn't have to be your prepping style, we are all different. Love, compassion and security are the main reasons for me. Hugs and kisses to all. Stay safe. 💕
+@sharebear3760 Exactly. Not only are our prepping styles individual, but also, a particular SHTF event we may be prepping for. That’s why I’ve always said, don’t look to RU-vid for prepping instructions or direction, but motivation, encouragement and ideas. NOBODY is a prepping expert except you. Thanks for the comment!
Joining a group would not be my first choice. I grew up learning how to survive in the woods. We had no running water, and no modern convenience's. In tough times there will be no trust. Family's will have to hang together to survive. I can build shelter with little and it would stop wind and rain. I know how to have make shift heat to sustain life. At my age I won't last long because of age and the need for meds. I have lived off grid and could do it again. I wish to live as well as I can today and do it without worry as a way of life in the future. Ray
Nobody has the money to seriously prep for a group. Ed has had years down there in WV. His place in NY not selling, killed his whole plan. He never recovered.
I'm not for being part of a group ....I would rather keep to myself and family and be within a village that I can share within and support myself thru commerce/trade......just like the rural town im in now
In my observations, people join groups to benefit from the work and efforts of others, while contributing very little. They will be first in line to eat, after never pulling a weed in the garden.
Being out society has been conditioned with all this modern technology, take all that away from a major shift event and people WILL lose their minds! No group gonna accommodate that. Jmo
My thoughts on others learning how to do what you know and do,,,,, THOSE same people shouldn't be watching, but they should be doing. Experience is the best teacher. I may have an idea on how things are done, but doing it is the best way I have ever learned to retain that knowledge. IF your sons are part of your SHTF plan, they too should be out there, learning and doing, not just waiting for you to do it for them. Just my opinion. I made my husband teach me how to change the oil in our vehicles a long time ago. He didn't want to do it, as he knows how, but I wanted to learn and I got under the truck, had him to show me what I am looking for, i.e. oil filter, and I removed it, got lots of oil all over me and I did it myself. So now, if he isn't able to do it, I can. I have changed spark plugs in our vehicles, with him watching over me, making sure I tighten them enough, not too much. Experience IS the best teacher. Again, just my opinion.
I hear, and I forget. I see, and I remember. I do, and I understand. I like that idea, and try to do the best I can to pass on my own experience to others when I can. I'm no genius, but i do know some stuff. I also try to learn from others.
@@odahithedubious2017 I try to learn new stuff daily. Just how I want to live my life. I may not learn big things daily but I have learned enough in my life to know that if need be, I can keep myself fed, clean, and my house clean, with food on the table, without the assistance of anyone else. I am not a genius either. I tell folks, I know a little about a lot of stuff, but it has served me well over the years.
+@wvbonbonqueen You are 100% correct! Everyone in a group should be cross trained as well. This also makes one more valuable to the group. I also agree my sons should be doing all of this with me, but like many, my family members aren’t as committed to this lifestyle as I am.
@@StBernardAcres So it sounds like they are just there because YOU are doing all their work??? That isn't going to make a very good "Group" if SHTF gets worse, as you won't be able to depend on them to help You if and when you grow older and need more and more help with the things you are used to doing now. Trust me, as we age, we need more help, I hate that fact, but it really is a fact. I sure hope they become more dependable as your group members, you may need them one day.
+@wvbonbonqueen They are there because “they” are family lol. If it was a group, I’d give them the boot lol. One of the problems with groups is, after SHTF, families of group members that you’ve never met, will be showing up. What if they don’t pull their fair share.
@@StBernardAcres I see preppers as patriots, people who love this country more than others do. How is hiding in a bunker standing with fellow citizens to take our country back? We will need the most patriotic heavily armed and prepared to stand and fight alongside us. What is the rationale to hide out and let others fight for this country back? I hope that doesn't sound snarky, it's a nagging question I've had in my head for a long time.
