Helena Kerschner, is a 23 year old detransitioned woman who identified as transgender during her teenage years and eventually was presrcibed testosterone shortly after her 18th birthday. After being on testosterone for a year and a half, she realized that transitioning was a misguided way of dealing with her social and emotional struggles. Now, years later, she is interested in exploring the cultural and psychological factors that contribute to the sharp rise in adolescents identifying as transgender and choosing to medically transition with hormones and surgeries. @lacroisz on Twitter
Colin Wright, is an evolutionary biologist, Senior Editor at the Foundation Against Intolerance & Racism (FAIR), and Contributing Editor at Quillette. His writings have appeared in The Wall Street Journal, Quillette, The Times, and more. He also writes articles and a weekly newsletter for his website, Reality's Last Stand, dedicated to keeping the public informed on the sex and gender debate. @swipewright on Twitter
Michael Laidlaw, is an Endocrinologist in Rocklin, CA. He has been specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of gland and hormone disorders for over 16 years. His writings on the topic of medical harms relating to gender dysphoria treatment have been published in medical journals and lay publications. He has spoken on the topic of medical harms and surgical procedures in a number of venues including state legislatures, Washington D.C., and the UK Parliament. He maintains his RU-vid channel at "M Laidlaw" and is back on Twitter @@gendersanity

Being a teenage girl just SUCKS. I remember and shudder.

I know and I fear that I would have fallen prey to this as a teenager. I shudder at the thought. I think my parents would have shut it down effectively.

As a male I was sucked in the same way the girls are, via the social aspect. I am not a gamer so that wasn't an option. Basically I was suffering from loneliness and depression and ended up being sucked into a group of Tumblr raised girls via a girlfriend. It happened for me exactly as she described with the added pressure of wanting to please a girl...a girl I would soon learn was super misandristic. She would praise me for my gender non-conforming tendencies while making me feel like shit for being male. For example she once said she could only see me as not a threatening person if she could label me as a "demi-boy." Thankfully I never started hormones and (after some time in the mental hospital) I have real friends and self-esteem now.

Funny that part of the TERFs think the same as your pro-trans former girlfriend, only difference is that there is NO WAY to ever be not a threatening person for you in their view.

Man, the more I look into this trans issue the more I am horrified at what is happening to our kids and even adults. These surgeries are appalling and I felt sick listening to (in multiple videos) the repercussions and after effects of those surgeries on people's bodies and mental health. I can't believe this is allowed to happen.

This is bewildering. These doctors need to be sued - Planned Parenthood, WPATH, the endocrine society, the APA - the shebang. We need a human rights tribunal for this shtshw…

These panelists are excellent. Very sad so few people have watched it. Why are comments only from last ten days?
@Cbc-networkOrg

We had comments turned off at first because of abusive and hateful comments and we just don't have the staff to moderate all the comments. Now things have quieted down a bit so we turned them back on.

This is an excellent presentation of the situation surrounding gender transition and ROGD (Rapid Onset Gender Dysphoria). I think that another reason why this affects girls more than boys is that girls have a more traumatic transformation to go through during puberty as compared to boys. With breast development and female fat deposits in the posterior regions causing them to be noticed more by men, and the discomfort and hassles associated with having a monthly period. Many girls going through puberty wish they could just find a way not to have to go through this anymore. I know this to be the case for my daughter going through this.

Everything is confusing at this point because some are trying to redefine human life, it's behavior, characters, identity, essence, etc., etc.. Where does it end or begin. I envy the animals who don't have to figure all this out.

This channel & those who come here are no doubt thinking people. So number of likes is irrelevant. May also be troll protection. This fine panel & discussion really should have about 1,000 times the number of views however.

I respect Colin Wright, but I disagree with him to some extent on pronouns; particularly, on the astrology example. I know my sun sign because that's just part of the American cultural experience, and my acknowledging that doesn't to my mind indicate that I believe that you can know anything substantial about me because of that. Similarly, I might take a place at a Ouija board, but that does not mean I think I'm about to summon the spirits of the dead. I understand people may reach that conclusion on their own, but then people adopt all sorts of silly notions and there's not much I can do about that. To Colin's point about acquiescing to the whole gender ID ideology, he's not wrong. Stating one's pronouns *is* a tip of the hat to that belief system, I concede. For myself, I don't feel like battling gender ideologues on a regular basis just to have normal interactions. To each their own, I suppose.
@karinelaxa959
@karinelaxa959 Год назад
They are however not normal interactions. They are infused with compeled language and constant awareness about the pronoun people's feelings.
@TrackerNeil
@TrackerNeil 10 месяцев назад
@@karinelaxa959To some extent, I think ALL human interactions involve awareness of other people's feelings, although I concede that these gender issues complicate things. However, I think that the benefits I derive from using pronouns as requested--within reason--outweighs the "complication cost." So the math works for me. To be clear, though, I do not extend the courtesy to bespoke pronouns like ze, zir, cat-self, whatever. That's where my indulgence stops.
