What did the previous Mayor know about this? I'm sure he and Chief Davis had conversations about the unit. MPD can hold up "We Support Chief Davis" signs all they want. The fact remains that the over 600,000 citizens of Memphis have the right to know if a specialized police unit is going around terrorizing Memphis. In the end it will the taxpayers who will have to cough up the money to cover the police abuse lawsuits. Not the police retirement fund, which where lawsuit settlements should come from! Police yourself before you think about policing the citizens of Memphis.

This is what happens when you try to pathologies everything. Just because someone created the unit doesn’t mean that they are ultimately responsible for absolutely everything. The problem was not the task force but the people in it
