We take on the long portages from Sunday into Agnes and then paddle almost ten miles up the behemoth lake to enjoy the stark beauty of a sweeping peninsula crowned with a scenic ridge line and gorgeous vistas in three directions.
At some point we take back to the trial and end up in much smaller, shallow waters after traversing several lakes and creeks. Bass fishing is good and group members come up with some surprisingly big bass. . .
Although good weather and fishing and camaraderie were all in effect, as always one of the most rewarding elements was the very thing we try to escape--people. Meeting fellow travelers is one of the most rewarding aspects of the journey, especially if we interact and provide some form of advice or assistance; moreover, the increasing frequency of encountering viewers on the trail is a blast--my new favorite form of interaction in the park!
