What I really like about how this pattern is constructed is that you can tweak the dimensions to make a bag for just about anything, from toasters to fishing poles. Not sure why you would want to carry around a toaster, but you could if you wanted to. haha

I almost wonder about using French seams when adding the gusset, to avoid binding yet still having some structure. Just a thought I had while watching the video.

I do like the way you present your tutorials. You get vital info and helpful tips into a shorter video very effectively. I also really like your detailed presentation of the finished bag at the start. Yes, you're right, that flat end on your stiletto tool is really good at pressing down seam allowances. I tried mine when I first got it and use it all the time, even with cotton before I press it with the iron.

This is a great adaptation. I make tough, stripped down versions of bags and purses for tool bags and pouches for my outdoor hobbies; bicycling, dirt biking and camping. (And organizing the rest of my life of course!) This version of the Catalina is PERFECT for my hub's motorcycle tool bag! I'm going to add hold-down straps. I'd love ideas on how to make rain flaps for over the zipper. Love your channel!

I just finished my Catalina last week and was super excited to make this one! I used canvas and iron on vinyl to make the inside waterproof. Great tutorial (as usual)! I used my Cricut to cut the outside panels, and added a tab as well. Even added a cute patch on the front.

Just an FYI, I have seen many people use the clips wrong. The flat side is down and the curved side up so that the clips sit flush on the bed of the machine. Love this pouch and will be doing it soon.

I recently bought a similar type bag from amazon made out of camo neoprene. It's a crossbody. I wish it had a pocket or card slots. It's a fun size to carry.

Hi Jess. Great tutorial, as always, thank you. I am in the UK and the fabric from Wonderground is awesome. However a bit above what I can afford because shipping costs have gone way high lately. Is there any further alternatives you can recommends. The nylon fabric looks quite 'stiff' shall I say. I have some different fabrics in my stash but not sure whether they'd 'stand up' straight like the material you have used. Help please :-)
