Cheers man, this video was made for people like me, saved it fir future reference. It's bad enough trying to decide on what printer to get in the long run sometimes, let alone resin types, slicing softwares, how to use such software, and of course all the settings for supports etc etc AND trouble shooting/ printfails. And this is why I'm subbed to channels like you. Oh and awesome painting tutorials. 😁

Thanks for this, it definitely helped me a lot. I would orientate my models so the supports would be on the mating surfaces. I did this because I was afraid the supports would take away detail from the surfaces that would be seen. The problem was that my models would never fit together well. This video makes me more confident about placing supports everywhere!

@TheCreativeCollector

Yes that's normal. It has to do with the machines internal settings like UV output and so on.

I have been a B3Dserk patreon for 3 months and next month I will finally buy my resin 3d printer (0 experience). This helps a lotttttttttttttttt, thank you so much! I was planning to use the files from the pre supported chitubox directory hahaha. Just one doubt when I was "playing" with the pre supported files there were 2 directories "50" and "100", with different sizes, which are the scales for each one, plus are the non supported files?
@TheCreativeCollector
@TheCreativeCollector 2 года назад
Great to hear! I'm glad this helps. So, Wicked or B3dserk usually has all of their models in 1/6 scale and busts at 1/4 scale. So, I think the 50/100 thing is if you want them full size versus half size. Reach out to those guys and they can tell you for sure.

Do you find yourself adding extra supports when you use auto or do you trust it mostly to do it’s job? I haven’t used chitubox, I use lychee and every time i just use auto supports I seem to get a failed print and it doesn’t seem to detect a lot of islands. Maybe I need to swap to chitubox and give it a go!
@TheCreativeCollector
@TheCreativeCollector Год назад
I usually don't have to add any extra supports. Most of the time I take away a few.
@bobbymccourt6794

I’d like to see the support contact points close up. When I use mediums, even with a contact size of .40mm and a depth of .10 they show like crazy and require a lot of clean up. Any idea why? Thanks for the video.
@TheCreativeCollector
@TheCreativeCollector 2 года назад
I'm not sure, and I'll take a look. Maybe from the angle? I don't have any issues with a lot of clean up with mine. I'll post a follow up on this message if I find out once I research it.
@kelvinreid9606
@kelvinreid9606 2 года назад
I use 0 penetration on all supports. Consider the time you are exposing perhaps it’s a little too long and it’s baking the supports? Resins are very different too of course. I mainly use Syria Tech (Fast/Tenacious 25% mix) and Phrozen 4K. I do use a little hot water for about 30 seconds and they come off super easy. I will sometimes use a heavy support on the initial build plate contact for large heavier pieces to ensure they don’t pull off. If there are dimples I apply a small amount of resin, ultraviolet flashlight and a quick sand. And as mentioned orientation can eliminate a lot of cleanup. Hope that helps!

Awesome! Thanks for the help Kelvin!

I love the settings for the supports. It's soooo much easier to remove after print. I have one question, I keep getting tacks heads (area supports pulling from resin print) on some parts. What can I do to fix the problem...I'm printing on Elegoo Saturn and Saturn 2
@TheCreativeCollector
@TheCreativeCollector Год назад
That's somewhat normal, but of they're too big then check the settings on the base of the support going on the model. You might be able to tweak that a bit.

Hey bro, great video, however... I always get small little dents from the support tips. You pull them off effortlessly, but when I try to do that, I get dents in my resin print, which I have to putty. Very annoying. Any tips for that?
@TheCreativeCollector
@TheCreativeCollector Год назад
I get those sometimes, but I can usually sand them away with my Gtool. It happens a bit with heavy supports, so I use medium most of the time. I dialed down my exposure time a little and it helped with this a lot. Now they basically just fall off.
@geekyalexa_
@geekyalexa_ Год назад
This video is great, I'm having quite a few fails lately and I believe it's because I haven't figured out the best orientation and the support settings. My question here is, you print HUGE models, but for someone who prints in a sligh smaller scale, do you still use the same standard supports?
@TheCreativeCollector
@TheCreativeCollector Год назад
Yes I use the same supports for all models. The only thing I do differently is I add more density for larger heavier pieces.

The newest version of Chitubox doesn’t allow you to change the support density. What settings am I looking for in its place? Also, on a hollowed out model with 5% infill I’m still getting auto supports inside. Is there a remedy for this? I have Chitubox basic.
