This is a little experiment in putting together 'quick craft' videos (in an attempt to put out a few additional videos from time to time).
So, in this one, I'm making some ...you guessed it ...green flames (to decorate the braziers that we made back in episode 5).
Here's hoping you like it! (please do let me know if you'd like to see more of this kind of thing in the future).

Seems a good, quick, simple technique for any color flames really. Thanks for sharing!

You sir are a genius. Said it's not great don't humble yourself this is awesome. I would have never thought to use a Q-tip and hot glue to make a makeshift Flame.

I don't know about the genius part (other folks have done slightly similar things to this in the past) - but glad you like it :)

Yeah, I like it. Had no clue that it was cotton cotton under the glue. Yes more of this also.

I don't think the cotton-bud thing is itself a new idea ...I just went about it a tiny bit differently to most (or at least I think I have ...I could be wrong :) ).

From the picture, I had thought they were plastic. I was surprised to see you used a cotton swab! Very "crafty". 😊

They do have a cheap plastic toy look/feel about them when they're done :)

Thanks. They're not really good enough for a display piece or anything like that ...but I think they're good enough for tabletop use.

Nah dude, that looks fantastic. Thats a great method idea. Thinking I'll experiment with kids-crafty-type markers, might be able to make good lookin ones in other colors too.. but honestly the highlighters would make having a blacklight over the gaming table an epic scene.
@CrookedStaffTerrain
@CrookedStaffTerrain 4 года назад
Yeah, I need to get a red marker at some point - to make some regular flames (as when I tried it with the yellow and orange highlighters that I've got, it didn't look dark enough).

Thanks ...there's probably better ways of doing them - but these kinda look OK considering how little time it takes to make them :)

By the way I love the quick little webcam tips I think it should be a series.
@CrookedStaffTerrain

Well, this was certainly a lot quicker to film (as I said in another comment, I have to rearrange my craft space, balance lights on furniture, etc. when using my 'proper' camera) - so for stuff that only take a few minutes to shoot - this format works well for me :)
@jezeski2011
@jezeski2011 4 года назад
Could use the orange in place of the green to make a 'standard' flame possibly. These still look really good. Edit: I guess other comments already mentioned that. Silly me.
@CrookedStaffTerrain
@CrookedStaffTerrain 4 года назад
Yeah ...I think I'm gonna give that a try when I'm able to get hold of some cheap pens/markers (as the orange highlighter I used on a test piece didn't look dark enough).

@CrookedStaffTerrain

I actually tried some regular flames with the yellow and orange highlighter pens that I've got - but yeah ...not dark enough - need to get some red felt-pens the next time I'm out and about (whenever that may be :S ).
@Patatatatate
@Patatatatate 4 года назад
nice :) i've seen others do the same. if you feel up to the task you can easyly make some flame with flickering led inside you can get enough to make ~20 for less than 10€ ;)
@CrookedStaffTerrain
@CrookedStaffTerrain 4 года назад
Yeah - I think this is just a slight variation of what's been done before (I'm just avoiding using paint for added speed ...and because I'm a bit lazy/impatient :) ). Also, not sure if I'll dabble much in LEDs (but I have played around with some of those tea-light things in the past).
@Patatatatate
@Patatatatate 4 года назад
@@CrookedStaffTerrain nothing wrong with being lazy ;) it's called efficiency :p but i found this flickering no wire build so good looking and requiring so little work that i thought i would mention them. and as always : good work, keep the good content

The picture quality isn't quite as good - but I can just film without the fuss of having to move my little craft table into place, setting up the tripod/camera, balancing desk lamps on nearby furniture, and so on :) As a result - I'm hoping to do a few of these short videos over the coming weeks :D
