Great product. It works and is easy to put in where needed. I leave mine in place and replace when it no longer inflates which is usually about a year.. This young lady does a great job of explaining this product.
It would have been great if I knew about this product three weeks ago. My mother had to deal with a big flood in her neighborhood last month. This product would have prevented her garage from flooding. Her driveway slopes downward so the flood water flows right down it. Looks like a great product for so many reasons.
How is that anybody else's fault????? You act like they where supposed to know you needed it ahead of time. Get out more! Find preventive options BEFORE a situation. #dumbass
Probably would not have helped much if your garage is down low in the driveway and there's nowhere for the water to go because if it's not being removed then eventually it will just go over the barrier
product wise most likely appropriate for tropical places particularly in southeast asia that are flood prone....wonder if this is open for distributorship....just asking....thanks
Good info video. I purchased a couple oh the 10' pieces. During the winter thaw, we need to divert water. This year we are in the midst of a winter rain. I have 2 quick dams guarding the sidewalk. My question is what will happen when the bags freeze? If I don't disturb them will they be good for the next thaw/rain?
They will freeze and act as a barrier. They will eventually thaw out and the same process will happen. Be careful when they freeze not to drag them, as they could tear and damage the outer layer.

okay, so we just used your product and saved our garage from a flash flood. I want to save this barrier that is 15 feet long. On your packaging and in your demo. You say salt water has no effect in absorption. And on the package it says place in salt water to deflate it. Im confused in how to store the product and drying it out without sun. Two to three months to dry it out it will mold or stink up the garage and home. what is the best option in re use and drying options and storge without long drying period. Because it is an awesome product and saved our property. Leaving it across drying out in the garage may lead to damage or kids destroying it by running over with bikes. as well as vehicles
We have only 5, 10 & 17 ft Flood Barriers, so if it's 15ft, it might not be our product. But yes, ANY product that uses Polymer to absorb liquids will dissolve when it comes in contact with salt or chlorine, not just out Bags & Barriers. Keeping it in a cool dry place, like a garage will be the best way to get it to dry our the fastest. You will be able to use it once more after it dries out but it is NOT reusable in the sense that it can be used over and over again year after year. If you're looking for a more permanent solution, you can look into our Quick Dam Water Curb's, Flood Gates & Water Gates! The Water Curb needs to be filled with water, it does not absorb, but it does allow you to drive a vehicle over it! see more at quickdams.com
@@QuickDambyASP hi..I'm confused..in the clip she says it can be used for 6 to 8 months if you leave it in place but in this comment it says it cannot be reused except for one more time ( twice total) ?
yes, but you will most likely only be able to use it twice if you use it, let it dry and use it again. after that you will likely have to purchase new bags or barriers. If you're looking for a more permanent solution that you can use year after year, you can look into our Quick Dam Water Curb's, Flood Gates & Water Gates! You mention it's the same material as children's diapers? One practice in gardening is to use the water absorbent material as a soil amendment to keep water in the soil for longer periods, would it be ok to do this with your product?
Place the Bags/Barriers in the path of oncoming flood water. As they come in contact with water, it will absorb through the material and start to swell. If a rush of water is expected or you need to stack them, pre-soaking them is recommended. Bags/Barriers reach their full height of 3.5in in 10 mins if enough water is present. hello i am living in thailand is there a distributer around phuket oer bangkok and another question , could i put 2 17 feet watergates one on top of the other if i have the nessasary backsupport because i thing one is not high enough thank you andy from phuket
This may be the most unusual question that you have received about the flood barriers, I need to repair a concrete retaining wall that partially surrounds a large pond. Could several flood barriers be submerged to form a semi-circular wall against the concrete wall that I could de-water and create a somewhat dry work area in which I will need to dig. The flood barrier would need to be over a foot in height. The bottom of the pond is mucky so the barriers may sink. The flood barriers would need to be removed while still "inflated". How heavy can I expect them to be and can they be moved without rupturing? I expect to use them only once. Could one end be cut completely open and the other end rolled up like a tube of toothpaste? Regards, John
Hi! I want to block the length of my driveway which is 75ft. When it's really stormy the water rushes across my driveway and it continues into my neighbour's yard. I think 5 x 17' flood barriers would work. That's 85ft. Question - do they velcro together at the ends? or do I need to stagger them for complete coverage?
+Ilona Covert Hi there, no you should not cut the products as the polymer substance will come out and your product will no longer work. If you go to quickdams.com you can buy 5ft flood barriers as well.
Once activated, if left in position, they can last for 3-9 months- this varies quite a bit depending on the environment in which they are used. The longer they stay wet, the longer they will remain active. When they are not getting wet, they will be drying out through evaporation & will reactivate when exposed to water again. Direct sunlight & excessive heat will speed its degradation, so these climates will experience shorter life cycle.
@QuickDambyASP Can you please offer a version that stays inflated? Otherwise, Once this stops working, Or gets to the end of its life, I can't afford to keep an eye on it to see how much water is flooding through to know its at the end of its life. I have an older home and my garage sits below the street and always floods. These have helped greatly. But I don't like that it expires. So please either offer a version that stays inflated or one with a zipper at the end so I can add sand later. Which is what I plan to do with these. I'm going to cut them open dumb your innards and then refill with sand and then dynaflex it shut. For Long term use.
@@civilizedagesabers Unfortunately, we can’t guarantee that our Water-Activated Barriers will remain full without the presence of water, but we have our Water Curb, which uses contained water to divert flood water. We are also developing a new design in our Water Curb line so stayed tuned for that. Check out Water Curb at: quickdams.com/index.php/product/water-curb/ and be sure to follow us on social @quickdams for new product announcements!
After the flooding event has passed and the Flood Bags/Barriers are no longer needed, it is best to store them in a garage or a shed. Somewhere that is protected from moisture and humidity. Also, it is best to place a tarp or plastic sheeting underneath the bags/barriers as this will prevent the staining of your surfaces. Please note that the process of deactivation can take a couple of months. For additional tips and tricks, please visit: quickdams.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/Quick-Dam-Tips-Tricks.pdf
