📝 Detailed Breakdown:
For many simple shaped patches, the two main products I use are the twill fabric from Gunold and 4mil plastic sheeting from HDX (Bought at Home Depot). The first step of my process is to get the shape of the fabric by setting it into the hoop and having the machine embroider the outline stitching. This step can be skipped if you have a capable cutter machine such as a Cricut or laser cutter. Once the stitching is done, I simply cut out the circle carefully and as closely to the stitching as possible to ensure the best for later. After this is done, I simply load up the mighty hoop with the plastic sheeting and make sure it is tight. With this, I reset the design on the machine to restitch the outline stitch that helps me identify where to place the fabric. Although I am comfortable holding my fingers onto the hoop while it is stitching down the final satin edge, I HIGHLY recommend you to either use spray adhesive or a tape to avoid injury. Many people have their fingers punctured and needles broken inside because of this. Once the edge is secured enough, simply let the embroidery machine complete the design. At the end, you can easily push out the design from the sheeting and use a lighter to clean up any excess threads and plastic that you do not want. Use the lighter sparingly as it will burn/split the polyester thread. After it’s cleaned up, you have yourself one perfect edged patch!

Hi, Good idea! Try to do a tension test on your machine, it reduces the looping of the thread and results in a cleaner look and feel.

How would you put the patch on a garment? Thanks

For most of my patches, I use heat n bond to heat press or iron on the patch to the garment. I'll definitely be doing a video in the future with this process!

@@LovesBranding Doesn't the plastic sheeting melt when you iron it on to a garment?

@@adaley8992 The iron or heat press shouldn't be hot enough to melt the plastic without damaging the embroidery/garment but if it is that hot, and manages to melt the plastic, it won't affect anything.

😂😂 I've got 9 more but you're right. Gotta be careful around the needles. Thankfully haven't gotten one through a finger yet
