I am so in awe of y'all. I grew up in Houston. Mama was a city girl. Now I so want to do all of this you are doing. I'm 71 and living with my son and his family. I don't think they understand the need for all of this. Like I told y'all before, would y'all like to adopt an old half blind 71 year old woman. I would love to learn all y'all have to teach. Thank you for sharing all that you do.
I made the recipe and I just added a hint of pumpkin pie spice. The broth was delicious, you continually bless me. Thank you so much for your contribution to wanting to teach us.
I’ve made 8 pints of these today with my granddaughter, I added some ground ginger and cinnamon to mine and it’s so good. I will make more for sure as they was delicious.
lol I'm with you on the getting older!! It's funny to hear someone else say that, I'm in my 60's and forget half of the things I want to do.. Or maybe I forget because I didn't want to do them in the first place :-)
@@rosanna3714 No I love those kind of carrots I need them all the time it is delicious and yummy but I had to learn how to do this Diabetic style and use Diabetic brown sugar it doesn’t taste too bad you should try and make sense that all people that are diabetics and add to use different kinds of substitutes or ingredients
Thank you, I just bought 25 lbs. of carrots last night and I will be trying out this recipe. I only put up about 6 lbs. last year, and they are all gone. Hubs was amazed at how much he enjoyed the home canned carrots. Most of the carrots will be canned with Onion soup mix, but glazed carrots sounds awsome for some of our holiday meals this winter.
Those sound like my kind of carrots. I with you on the brown sugar I love it too. I totally agree with you about the small batch canning because I would probably feel overwhelmed with huge batches. I do not pressure can right now but love the idea of it if I would have more room. It is always so nice to spend time with you in your kitchen. You seem to have a gift of putting people at ease because you are such a warm person. Anyway, I love ya!------Tressa Daigle
My daughter and I canned peaches with your guidance and I bought potatoes and carrots to try and can those. I just love watching you, you're a calm, wonderful teacher - just love you! 💗
I just finished 12 pints of caramelized carrots. Thank you so much for your tutorial! Thanksgiving is coming up and that’s my contributions family dinner….❤️✝️
I already dehydrated and canned up my first bed of carrots today but have another bed that will be ready end of may so definitely canning that second batch like this.
I'm just seeing this video but was happy to see this canning recipe. I cab vouch for how good these are because I made a few jars of this exact one earlier during the week. I'm gonna do a lot more. I make all kinds of food in jars for us to take on the road in a semi.
Yes mam small batch canning is perfectly fine. Most of my canning is small batch because I try to put up as it ripens in the garden. Another great video Mrs Lori! Love and blessings to you and Mr Brown❤️
Can't do those all day canning days any more. I canned 6 pints of collards and 11 quarts of okra yesterday and I was exhausted. I am in my mid 70s and each year it's harder. Carrots look so good. I need to do more potatoes and dehydrate onions. Maybe tomorrow. Lol. Love your videos. Blessings.
Hello, I just ran across your channel for the first time and I am so excited to watch all of them. Thank you so much !!! Can’t wait to learn all about you, your recipes, lifestyle and tour your cabin. Do you ever do any sewing?
Thank you for the canning lesson. I've never seen anything canned with brown sugar, before.I enjoy your channel so much. You have such a pleasant voice & you don't talk down to your viewers. That's much appreciated.
You are the Mr. Rogers of the You Tube World! So calm, peaceful and with a ready smile. I relax just by watching you. I would love to be in your neighborhood and inherit some of your good will and joy in life. You are a treasure, for sure. I guess just like Mr. Rogers song, 'won't you be my neighbor' I really am through the magic of internet.
I knew I about canning carrots but not the glazed part. We always glazed them when we cooked them for a meal. I just learned a quick shortcut thanks to you. Hope your day is going well!
Hello our lovely Mrs Lori🌸....so nice to wake up to your video 🤗 ....when we have a family get together my mum-in-law makes a version of glazed carrots in the stove...I think she uses white sugar, butter and a squeeze of fresh orange juice. You know I’ve watched a lot of canning videos and you debubble the most thorough of anyone...some just stick the stick in once or twice and that’s it but you really get in there and make sure all air bubbles are gone which common sense says that’s soo important!! Any new canner would do well by watching your canning videos. What a pretty jar your carrots make! You’re pantry is such a pretty picture. Love you Mrs Brown 👩🏻👩🏼💖
Hi Ms Lori I am back and I am going to be doing a lot of canning today and carrots is one of the veggies I will be doing. Thanks for this video because this is what I will be using today. I want to do some potatoes too. I have green beans also. I will be a busy lady today. I founds some really sweet corn yesterday and put up 27 bags for this winter use. I love your video so much.. Oh yes, I made your biscuits this morning and now my husband love you too ha ha ha. Have a great day and I will be looking to more video.
BTW, your recipe says to use a cup of orange juice with the water and brown sugar on the glaze. Is that still correct or do you leave the OJ out like you did in the video?
Whelp. I'm gonna' do these in the morning. And I waterbathed 7 quarts of Saurcraut today (your recipe!) Thank You! And Pressure canned 7 Quarts steak with tators, celery. Carrots and seasonings today.
Glazed carrots with brown sugar and oj sounds good! I made glazed carrots on Thanksgiving w Brown sugar and butter, but they weren't as good as Cracker Barrel. 😞😉 God bless you !🎄
My problem with canning carrots is I never can enough. We love carrots. Glazed or not. I'm glad I watched this. Going to check the price of carrots at the store today. We have tried growing them, but critters always eat them before we can harvest. That and the beets. So I depend on sales to put them up at a reasonable price. God Bless you two!
What does the weight do on the pressure canner? Also how do you figure out your pressures and how long to process? Thank you in advance for your time in answering questions. I love all your videos
Mother always bought naturally sweet, fresh "Candy Carrots" for juicing and cooking, not canning. They're a long, thin type that's hard to find. I haven't seen them for years.
Omygoodness, your 🥕🥕 look so good. I dont have a canner Lori, do you know how I would go about canning without one or is that possible? Thankyou so very much for ALL that You have shared with us❤ it means the world.....
You can’t pressure can without one -but look for a good used one! Make sure it has a gasket that’s in good shape. Run some vegetable oil over it. If it’s dry rotted, get a new gasket. And make sure there is a pressure gage that works (the “rattler”.). You can water bath lots of things but mostly jellies and jams and relish, etc... look online at ball fresh preserving for guidelines about that. Most veggies have to be pressure canned to be safe.
We love brown sugar glazed carrots! I was suspicious if you could can the brown sugar without it scorching! Guess what's next when I get done with my potatoes!
Is there anything else you can use, besides orange juice? I just don't like the flavor of it in my carrots? I cook (not preserve) my carrots with a bit of brown sugar and cinnamon - it's the only way my grandkids will eat cooked carrots. TIA
I finally received my pressure canner - then the instructions said that the bottom of the canner couldn't be larger than the area that gets hot on my ceramic cook top. I've been water bath canning for a while with pots way bigger than the hot area, and no problems and pressure canning doesn't use as much water so it won't weigh as much but when I called the manufacturer, he said it could cause the top to crack since some of the ceramic would be very hot and the area around not as hot. He said proceed at your own risk of having to buy a new range or new ceramic top. I'm going to go ahead and try. It makes me a little aggravated that a stove top is not capable of doing what it's purpose is - to heat pans of food. Can you tell I'm not really happy right now? Dad burn it - I want to can! I want to make these carrots instead of freezing them. Mom used to tell me to wish in one hand and spit in the other to see which got full faster. I'm going for the wish.
